Over 6,500 square feet of living space. Private garden area to sit and relax. Flat screen televisions in 4 of the bedrooms and a flat screen TV in the family room. Spacious dining room. Large fully equipped kitchen with eat-in-kitchen area and family room. One of the bedroom and bathroom is a private Studio-like set-up for extreme privacy. Driveway fits 4 cars for conveniency. About Kyle

My wife and I raised our children (triplets) here in La Jolla and it is truly one of the most beautiful places to live on earth - not to mention raising children here. There is a true sense of a small village type atmosphere that lends itself to one feeling safe and blessed to be in such a wonderful caring type of community.

What makes this house unique

Our Meditterranean style home is less than a 7 minutes walk down to the village of La Jolla and all its restaurants, art galleries, boutiques - a wonderful shopping experience. It also is located a short walk to the famous La Jolla Cove with its seals warming themselves on the beach. Not far is some of the best surfing spots in the world - WindanSea and La Jolla Shores. Driving a short distance will take you to the world famous San Diego Zoo (20mn), Balboa Park and all its museums (20mn), Sea World (15 mn), Legoland (30mn) the downtown Gaslamp District (20mn), PetCo Park, Mission Bay (15mn) and beautiful Coronado (20mn).

Kyle.... it's been a week since I left 1540 Soledad which will remain in my memory as a little bit of heaven. Our family had a marvelous time together (if there were sibling problems going on, they kept them

quiet!) The house was perfect.... inviting, welcoming, sheltering, comforting.... we ate together every night except for an excursion to La Jolla Mexican restaurant... we played and sunned in the back yard, we walked the beaches, we marveled at the seals and sun and shops, we became fast friends with the folks at Vons... never got to Cosco! I

felt like I was in a golden cocoon with my children and grandchildren.

Your house appears to be a special place for all who visit there....

and what a lovely spot to come home to every now and then.

Great Visit and House!

We recently rented this house for a wedding in la Jolla. After much research we selected this home with high expectations and it did not let us down. First this was much more affordable than a hotel room would have been when you factor in eating out, parking etc. It allowed all of us to stay under one roof, and we were all coming in from different areas in the country so it was perfect to catch up and all hang out during off hours. The house had great accommodations, we had 6 couples staying there so everyone had their own bathroom which was crucial. The house has all of the supplies we needed for cooking and hosting family meals for all of us. Catherine and Kyle were very accommodating with my many questions. We took Uber service to the beach to avoid dealing with parking for $5 or less which was extremely convenient. I have already recommended this property to friends. Great back yard and plenty of room for large groups.

Simply Amazing! Absolutely Perfection

This house is extremely spacious and recent upgrades have been done to make this the perfect five star resort in La Jolla. The location is perfect distance to the airport, LEGOLAND, San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld. The owners of this house are extremely hospitable and responsive. The owners of this house provide details on all of the attractions and recent improvements to the home are so classy. Perfect for family gatherings, huge fireplace and backyard for evening dining. I would recommend this house to anyone. The way Kyle and Catherine do business is top notch.

Exactly what we were looking for

We were a group of 10 people doing an adventure race and needed a place to stay for a night. We loved the amount of sleeping space, the grilling area, and the backyard. We grilled burgers, had some cold beverages, and played some bocce in the backyard. Would highly recommend this place for families or groups of people for most any occasion.

Double Standards, Tired Rental

We rented this home for five days in March, 2015. It was ideally located for our son’s La Jolla wedding and had enough bedrooms to offer some of his young friends a place to stay that would save them money making it easier on limited budgets to travel from the east.

Our first experience with the owner nearly had us look elsewhere for a rental. The lease was sloppily constructed and gave signs of a landlord who only cared about the money. This proved to be the case even to the return of the deposit. The agreement promised a return of the deposit within 30 days. Our last day of the rental was March 8th. The deposit check was written on April 12th and snail-mailed to us. We received it on the 18th. I had to email and call to remind him about it.

That’s not the worst part.

The house, in a word, was tired. Showers required one to run around in them to get wet. Towels seemed to be leftover from a Motel 6 and required daily recycling due to how few there were. The kitchen was equipped with outdated cooking utensils that seemed like someone’s leftovers. Furniture was cheap—not what you’d expect of a multi-million dollar property that rents for the daily rate this one did. TV remotes didn’t work well—even for our extremely tech-savvy kids. The three-car garage was off limits due to the owner storing his things in it. It was not disclosed prior to arriving. Soap, toilet paper, etc. were lacking. And, finally, there was much deferred maintenance.

Rent at your own risk. This was not on par with the kind of experience we’ve had renting other similar properties.

Owner's Response: It was with great surprise and disappointment that I first read this review. As one can see from our 5 star ratings, busy calendar and our 5 star reviews, our home has been consistently enjoyed by a very large number of vacationers in the last few years and their experiences have been nothing but short of positive. I wish this guest would have shared any of his/her concerns with me while staying at home. I actually had to go back in our calendar and check to see if this person had really stayed with us. Reason being that I had not had any complaints nor had received any questions for the entire duration of their stay. Just one quick text regarding the use of a television. Turned out that the settings had been changed by a previous guest having plugged in an Xbox. An issue that was quickly resolved. In response to the accusations: Our contract is based off a standard short term rental lease agreement, taken from the California Real Estate Department. It does not contain anything unusual or weird and we very rarely receive any complaints or any requests for changes. Again, I wish if this vacationer was uncomfortable with his rental decision in the first place, he/she would have asked questions, request changes or simply decide not to sign and rent from us instead of writing a negative review as a result. If you take the time to read through our other guests' 5 star reviews you will see their experience was excellent. Very different from this. In hosting so many guests over the years, we realize it is simply not realistic to expect each and everyone one to be happy each and every time we open our home. Still, know that we work very hard at making sure our guests are satisfied and I hope that our past 5 stars rated reviews below will assure you that we do :-). Thank you.

A great time in La Jolla

I have stayed at the this home for two years in row now (2013-14). We are a business that comes to the San Diego area to advance our teamwork and communication skills. It is very comfortable and close to all the activities that we like. It has enough for bedrooms for all us which is great. Dealing with Kyle and Catherine makes the experience all the better. They are prompt, courteous, friendly and truly care about your stay. I would recommend this house to anyone!

My Rental Experience at La Jolla Mansion

We loved our stay. The house was all we needed, wanted, and a bit more. It extraordinarily accommodated our family and guests, as few other could do in the area. We were happy to have prepared for and celebrated our nuptials at such a uniquely qualified property. The experience was all the better with Kyle and Catherine on the other end of the process.

I very much respect and appreciate the way they do business. Their positive attitudes and determination to accomplish a task are top notch. They are very attentive, quickly responding to any concern we had and refunding our deposit in a timely manner. I would not hesitiate to stay at any property they own/manage.
