6 miles from authentic lobster villages of Jonesport & Beals. Setting is private and peaceful. Spectacular ocean views. View the stunning sunrise on your own private deck. Amazing night sky without light pollution. Watch bald eagles soar overhead, shorebirds in abundance, occasional seals playing and sunning. Located on the Great Bar - at low tide walk out and harvest your own fresh mussels or just enjoy your own private beach. Watch lobster boats at work on the water. 15 miles to Machias - UMM campus, Summer Machias Bay Chamber Series in July/Aug., Blueberry Festival in August. 80 mi/1.5 hour drive to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park depending on traffic or 45 min. to Winter Harbor ferry to Bar Harbor. 50 miles to Lubec/Campobello Island. Autumn colors are beginning to show on the coast. Enjoy cool, sunny weather. Still plenty of lobsters available.

Cottage was built in 2000. : It is very clean with modern appliances. It has been well cared for; we hope you will treat it with care if you stay with us. It is a very special place. It was our vacation retreat until we built a retirement home nearby and moved here full time in 2007.

We spent a week at this charming "cottage"(it is so much more than that) and had a wonderful time there. The pictures posted on the website are exactly the way the property and cottage looks, clean, exceptionally equipped. The owners have thought of everything.
We enjoyed lots of quiet time sitting on the deck, reading books, listening to music and walking out on the Great Bar at low tide. Enjoyed lobster, right off the dock in nearby Beals. It was the "escape" vacation that we were looking for and plan on returning.

The most beautiful, peaceful and relaxing location

We drove from Michigan and it was a long drive, but when we walked in the door of this beautiful place, we realized it was well worth it! The view was awesome and sitting on the deck overlooking the wonderful view words cannot describe. One morning I saw something swimming up to the shore by the deck, it walked out of the water and I was surprised to see it was a small deer.

The cottage is decorated beautifully and Mary has everything you could need. You just bring the groceries. We traveled to many of the surrounding cities to site see, and had a very great vacation!

I would recommend this cottage to anyone who needs to getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, or for those who want to renew some romance. A wonderful place, and I hope to be able to return there someday!

A perfect cottage by the ocean

This beautifully maintained, tastefully furnished cottage on the ocean has wonderful views from every one of its large windows. In our too-short time there we made good use of its well-equipped kitchen enjoying lobster taken right off the boat down at Barney's Wharf on Beal's Island and the last of the wild blueberries from local farms. We explored nearby coastal towns and hiked. We loved it so much that we're hoping to return next year for a longer stay.

A Fine Time!

This modern, private cottage, equipped with panoramic views of the Great Bar and Atlantic Ocean not more than a hundred yards away, provide outstanding value for the rental dollar. Its choice location allowed us to bike and hike to nearby, scenic conserved land such as the great seaside cliffs just north of Cutler and Campobello Island, at the far tip of which we heard and saw whales and two bald eagles. From the cottage deck, we'll never forget watching a full moon rising from the bluffs of Roque Island over Englishman's Bay. Lobster and Chardonnay never tasted so good!

Wonderful place to stay

If you love sitting on a deck and watching the bay, Roque Island in the distance, rainbows, the lobster boats, and loons, this is the place for you. We picked wild blueberries for our pancakes. We also hiked a Nature Conservancy Trail on nearby Great Wass Island. The house was clean and very comfortable. Wonderfully appointed - everything you could want. We had a lot of fun walking out on the Great Bar at low tide. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.
