Ocala is a peaceful town in central Florida, approximately 78 miles west of Daytona Beach. This is horse country, and Ocala is known as the center for Thoroughbred racing and training. Rolling hills, sweeping fields and white horse barns make this area seem more like Kentucky than Florida. In fact, at least five Kentucky Derby winners were trained in Ocala. Horse farm tours are available in the area. Ocala is also well known for the Ocala National Forest where over two million people visit each year. There are a total of 600 lakes in the forest, 23 spring-fed streams and two major rivers. Enjoy camping, picnics, swimming, canoeing, horseback riding and woodland hikes all year long; although fall through spring is the best time to avoid thunderstorms and mosquitoes. Just outside of Ocala is Silver Springs, a 350-acre natural theme park that has the world’s largest collection of artisan springs. The park is listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks and features wild animals.

pleasantly relaxing and cozy...

My husband and i were looking for something that was both cozy & relatively cheap while visiting family in Florida. We both agreed that staying with family members isnt always the most relaxing so we searched for a rental home that would fit our needs during our stay. Our search was exhausting until i happened upon this rental.Not knowing exactly what to expect and more than a bit nervous after reading the only review available we arrived on 1/11/09. What a pleasant surprise!!! Neither my husband nor myself smelled any evidence of pets. The property has a partially fenced in yard that could have been used for dogs however this was NOT apparent. The yard and surrounding areas were nicely maintained & well cared for. The rooms were very clean, sheets fresh, & bathroom spotless! My husband is a sports fan so he greatly enjoyed the huge flat screen TV above the fireplace. During the evenings we both enjoyed relaxing on the veranda & often walked the short distance to the private park. The week flew by & we found ourself needing to return home. Our stay at this property was both cozy and much more than what we were hoping for. The owner truly went above and beyond making us feel comfortable and welcome! My husband and I strongly recommend this rental property!!!

I stayed with my daughter and it was the best with two preschoolers I can say it was good. for them. We went to the waterfront and visited around the area. We found the people in the area friendly. We appreciated the help when the DVD player wouldn't work. I just wish the weather had been warmer. The house was very comfortable though and we had all that we needed. I don't know if my daughter will reply also but we are impressed.Although I had to come back early and they are still there I could have wished to stay longer but couldn't. I thought the house was very tastefully decorated. It was very convenient to grocery stores etc.

One Family' Thoughts

First off, our family has been renting through vrbo for years. We have always had our expectations surpassed. Although this was a nice home, the advertising of it is a miss. It is not private, from any side of the home you can see eight other homes. The back side shows a few trailers. It also mentions "lake view". There is no lake view from any window or porch in the home. If the neighbors across the street cut down the huge trees which border the lake, you may get a small glimpse of it. It was clean, although it was certainly cleaner when we left. There has also been a dog in the home, which you could frequently get an odor from. We have stayed in beach homes on the beach for much less. We did go with this home on the basis of it being "private" with "lakeview". Which neither were supplied.
Owner's Response: This is the first negative comment I have ever had on any of my 10+ vacation rentals in over 5 years of doing this. Falls under you can't please all of the people all of the time, I guess. Upon arrival this guest was unhappy so I offered to refund 100% of his money. He was told that the property was Lake Access and not Lake front by my secretary Brittany several times leading up to the rental. Then when he got there he for some reason was disappointed it wasn't Lake Front. As far as the other concerns, the home was cleaned thoroughly prior to their arrival by the same cleaning company I have used for the last two years and never had a complaint and the listing does not say private or secluded anywhere so I am not sure why they thought it was such. The lake is a private lake not a public assess lake, that is the only time private is used in the listing.
