Here is another review for this year:
2 YEARS IN A ROW!! This is the second time staying here. The first time was for a week and we loved it so much we booked it for 2 weeks this year. It was so relaxing and this year we decided to enjoy more time at the lake and less viewing the sights. It was perfect. I went for daily bike and or mountain bike rides, while the rest of the family woke up slowly and ate breakfast on the screened in porch watching the wildlife and the boats go by. Great bike trails in Kingsport (Green Belt Trail – info at the house). The trail which is a must do is in Damascus, VA about 30 minutes away called the Virginia Creeper Trail, which is part of the Appalachian Trail. Well worth it but takes the entire day. From Damascus it is a 34 mile round trip, from Abbingdon it is a 64 mile round trip. It is uphill one way and downhill the other. What an awesome bonding time with the family. We went swimming every day and rented a pontoon from Rockingham Marina from Landon. The kids enjoyed the tubing and the open peaceful lake during the week to swim off the boat. Scott was awesome as usual checking up on us. He put a railing in for my mother-in-law to make it easier to get down to the water. He came over a couple of times just to make sure all was going well. TCBY is a must to go to while there. My wife and I grew up on it. If anyone in the family is a quilting enthusiast like my mother-in-law, then this peaceful retreat on the Lake Boone is a great base camp with many quilting shops not too far off. If only rained 2 or 3 days while we were there, and it was in the late afternoon or early evening when the biking and swimming was already done. The only regret we had was coming back to civilization and reality when we drove into our driveway at home.
