COZY CRAFTSMAN COTTAGE IN 'SCONSET VILLAGE Located on over 1/4 private acre, in 'Sconset Village. EASY WALK TO CENTER AND BEACH. You can hear the surf from the home and see the Sankaty light cross the tree tops at night.
'Sconset Village:
'Sconset is a village of historical cottages and summer homes situated on the eastern end of Nantucket Island, the 2nd most eastern town in the US. During the hubbub of the summer crowds is delightful to get away to the quiet nature of 'Sconset. It was originally a seaman and whaler village, followed by an actors and writers colony. The 'Sconset Casino continues as a tennis club, and as a theater. There is a cafe, small grocery store, liquor store and a post office in the center of the village and 2 four star restaurants: Summer House and Chanticlair. Folks are unassuming and friendly here and you may well run across some rather famous folks strolling about (authors, actors, painters), as there is a an art and literary tradition (I will refrain from mentioning any names)
Beaching, Fishing and Sailing:
The three main sports events of beaching, fishing and sailing excel all others. The beautiful beaches (around the island) range from high surf on the south shore, to moderate waters off of 'Sconset, to the end of the Harbor at Wauwinet, to calm Dionis, to Great Point, Dionis, Cisco and Madaket. The fishing is renowned world-wide. You don't need a boat as the surf casting is outstanding: stripers, blues, Spanish mackerel, bonita, false albacore, flounder. The sailing is outstanding from the dn of the bay at Wauwinet to the Nantucket Harbour to the open ocean. There is fresh water fishing in the many ponds.

There are 2 public golf courses and 2 very exclusive private golf courses, as well as riding stables, and a fabulous skating arena.
