Marco Island is located in the gulf of Mexico in the far Southwest corner of Florida. It is nestled just south of Naples area. The Island is 4 miles by 6 miles and encompasses 6,800 acres. It is the largest island of the surrounding 10,000 islands. Marco Island features 6 miles of beach and over 100 miles of waterways. Within 30 minutes driving are air boat tours in the Everglades, shopping in Naples and fantastic golf. Airports: 30 minutes to Naples; 50 minutes to Fort Myers; 1 1/2 hours to Fort Lauderdale; 2 hours to Miami and 3 hours to Tampa

Big Disappointment on Marco Island

The house was very dirty and needed alot of updates and alot of detailed cleaning. Pulled in the garage, full of junk. The coffee maker was missing the pot. Needless to say we didn't stay there. The pictures were very deceiving on the wed site. The owner who rented us this house, said he wouldn't be of any help to us, he was having his own crisis. So Bernice stepped up to plate to accomodate us. We will not rent from Pendalbean Rentals ever again.We would not recommend this property to anyone. This house needs alot of attention.
Owner's Response: We make every effort to make our home clean, comfortable and welcoming to our guests. The house had just received a seasonal detailed cleaning in late June. The coffee pot was clean and in the dishwasher. If there are any issues or concerns, either we personally try to correct them, or Bernice will handle them on our behalf.

San Marco Rd in Marco Island

I should start out by saying that this house has a lot of potential, if there was an owner who cared about the house and his guest. I am used to staying in the Outer Banks, NC, where the Rental company makes sure that everything in the house is perfect. This house is no where near perfect. If I were the rental company, I would not be accepting anymore payments for this property owner as he does not fix anything that needs to be fixed. There are two large areas in the screen area around the pool ripped(which apparently have been ripped for some time) allowing bugs into the pool area. There was no coffee pot, only a coffee maker (which the women at the rental company stated they had just given the owner another pot to provide which he did not), soaps that were provided? they were a tiny soap bar (from a hotel) which were opened and broken into two pieces. The pads for the outside furniture were thrown about, and were so dingy looking that I wouldn't sit on them unless I had my own beach towel covering them. Siscors were left out on one of the chairs with a fishing hook on it. No one came to service the pool. I don't know if any chemicals were in the pool. Prepare on washing towels everynight if you have a family of four or more as there are limited towels provided. There are only 3 beach towels. The cooler that was provided, had a dish in it with dried up magets in it. We bought all paper and plastic products so that we didn't have to use their cups and dishes. There are very limited amounts of TV channel options. We had to buy some movies for the kids to watch things in the evening as the lights in the pool do not work and we couldn't swim in the evening after dusk. Overall, I would NOT recommend renting this house or renting with the rental company as the owner doesn't respond to issues and the rental company keeps taking payments for him. This house is up for sale and owner doesn't do anything extra for this house.

Beware! and definitely do not rent in mid-winter

This house is fine as a clean, basic replacement to staying in a 2 star hotel (of which there are none on Marco). But my main issue is - I guess they're allowed to advertise a pool as "heated" when it's really not. This pool uses a "solar blanket" as it's source of "heat". You are to unfurl this contraption and cover the pool after dark to "keep in the heat" from the day. Only problem is - there isn't enough heat in the day during January-February to even come close to making this pool warm. To me, a non-pool owner, a house listed as having a "heated pool" means the water is "heated" and the pool is usable. Well, this pool is totally UNusable - the water was freezing cold, and that is no exaggeration! I literally was unable to get into the pool for the entire week - and that was the main reason I rented the house to begin with. Also - the pool pump is about to break, and woke you up each morning as it was belching and groaning against the outer wall right on the other side of the headboard in the master bedroom. One entire section of the screen roof of the pool lanai was ripped open, letting in bugs at night, so you had to keep the house buttoned up after dark. The prior comment about the TV channels is still correct - about 25 available - mostly shopping/spanish/cspan, in other words - the most basic of basic cable, and the picture on the old 13 inch TV in the Master bdrm is green tinted and can't be adjusted. IF you plan on preparing any "gourmet meals" during your stay - better bring your own cookware - since this house has old, worn out, broken pots and pans, and not many of those. The listing also says there is a BBQ grill available. In actuality - it's a small electric 'george foreman' type thing that was so filthy when we arrived, we never even used it. Totally inadequate, and almost as if it was bought as an afterthought just so they could list the house as having a "BBQ Grill".... Finally, the location is on a busy road - very noisy!

In summary - I stayed the last week in January for much cheaper than if I had been there one week later, or I would have been livid at such a ripoff price for this house. Even at my rate, I had to keep reminding myself that "you get what you pay for" - at least in January..... My impression is this house is run on a shoestring budget by it's owner, who long ago decided he's more interested in getting your money, than he is in providing you a nice stay for that money. You'd be better off looking elsewhere.

What can one say about a great place!

My wife, son and I stayed here in July 08. We spent 7 days and loved every minute of it. It was nice to even sit outside, yes I said outside during the day, and enjoy a glass of juice or water and take a dip in the pool now and then...
Very clean house and the owner was great to work with. He really cares about your stay.
There is only 2 things that I would change and I believe the owner may have changed one of them. #1 is the cable TV was ok but needed more channels. When it rains sometimes you want to stay inside and watch a little more. I believe he may have installed Satellite TV or upgraded this. #2 is the mirror near the kitchen needs to go. I can't count how many times at first when I almost walked into it. LOL
All in all I would highly recommend this house. If I had the money I would buy it!

Great house!

This house is better than described!

Our family rented this house in June 2008. We had a fantastic vacation here! The house has all the amenities you could want and the private pool with screened lanai is a wonderful feature we used constantly! It is furnished nicely and the layout is very family friendly! It sits on a quite corner of a main road (although you would never know, because you never hear it)!

The owner went above and beyond to fix a few minor problems (with the pool and ac...all normal wear and tear unpredicatable gliches)! He was so very friendly and made sure our vacation was perfect!

I will definately return to Marco and to this house! I highly recommend this house and owner!
