We were totally in awe of our "luck" in finding this cabin through an online source, rather than friends or referrals I had never booked a vacation this way and was skeptical at least. The owners have excellent customer service/communication and have an incredible attention to details and hospitality. The cozy, classy decor was exceptional and hard to leave! Loved the secluded, private setting. Thank you JJ's Retreat for your part in a truly unforgettable family memory. Some tips highlights follow!
We dined at the Dillard House (total wow factor according to the teens), they LOVED Alpine Helen and Cherokie NC and meeting the Indians, the culture. Their favorite was "grubbin" at Gold N Gem's where we found HUGE rubies, sapphires, emerald among many gems and had the stones cut and rings made right there! They even liked hiking and all the N GA waterfalls and nature. They actually became antique junkies and wanted to hit every antique shop. I don't think I saw them TEXT all week!!

JJ's Retreat is a fabulous place to stay in the north Georgia mountains! We arrived in the dark, so at first simply marvelled at how well appointed the cabin was, and went to bed. The next morning we got a real treat when we woke up to wonderful views! The sunrise from behind the mountains opposite the rear porch is stunning... and at the other end of the day we star-gazed from the hot tub. The first morning, my dad, who doesn't sleep heavily, said he had the best night's sleep for the first night in a new place / bed he'd ever had, which is quite an achievement!
Brian and Dale have thought of just about everything, and far more than most vacation rental owners usually do - it almost felt like a show home that we shouldn't be spoiling, everything was so beautiful, yet it was very homely and comfortable at the same time.
All 4 of us (myself and hubby, plus my parents visiting from the UK) enjoyed our stay and really had a hard time leaving. This is the first vacation rental we've stayed in that we have immediately wanted to go back to and take other people with us to enjoy! Truly memorable for so many reasons, all of them good :-D
I should also add that the whole rental process, from the first enquiry to the directions we were given to get there, was also very easy and pleasurable, which of course sets the trip out on the right footing.
Thank you for everything - whenever we can find the time off work (!) we will be back again, probably with different visitors or maybe even on our own, despite the place being a bit more than 2 people need!
My family met for Christmas at JJ's Retreat and we had an absolutely fabulous time. The cabin was decorated before we arrived so we were able to relax immediately. I rarely feel at home in a rental but this was definitely an exception. There were a couple of rainy days during our stay and my 8 year old niece was easily entertained with the game room (as were the adults!). I would highly recommend JJ's retreat!
My friend and I stayed at JJ's Retreat for a week of class at the Wm. Holland School of Lapidary Arts. The logistics for our week was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The house was well equipped with everything we could possibly need (or want) and very clean. The home was a mix of "cabin feel" and upscale, which was perfect for us. We will certainly try to grab this place again for our next class.
It would be a great location for a family retreat. Kids would absolutely love staying here due to the fact that the owners have gone over the top to provide entertainment for their guests with children - game room with Foosball, Shuffleboard, cards, movies, books, hot tub on the deck, etc... Plus WiFi.
The best part of the house for us was the cool evenings sitting out on the deck with a glass of wine without the worry of bugs. The main deck (which there are three) is screened in keeping those pesky little gnats and mosquitoes away. Loved it.
What you see is what you get, and it is wonderful. Super clean and everything you need. I actually got to meet Dale, the owner, and she was so cool and really easy to get along with. If you want to get away and relax and spend time with the family this is the place to go. Our favorite restraunt was Brothers (3 miles away). Great food, good prices and awesome staff. Boating on Lake Chatuge is great.
We had such a wonderful time at JJ's Retreat!!! This was the first cabin we have rented that had "a home away from home feeling". The game room in the basement will keep people of all ages entertained for hours. The wrap around screened in deck has surround sound speakers and its very relaxing to listen to music out there as a thunderstorm comes over the mountains. Within a couple miles of the cabin there is Crane Creek Vineyards, Brasstown Valley, and Lake Chatuge - all our great day trip destinations (and the Marina at Lake Chatuge has a really awesome Tiki Bar!) There is also a hot tub on the side part of the deck, so take time to soak in it, and enjoy the mountain air. Brian and Dale were wonderful people to rent from - they made the process very easy and accommodating. JJ's Retreat is our new cabin rental from here on out - it even has our thirteen year old son's approval!!!
JJ's Retreat is a truly great mountain get-a-way that is a couple of miles from everything you need. We were familiar with the area put could not picture where the cabin was located. We were happy to find it was very private while only a few short miles from YHC, antiquing and resturants. The cabin was well appointed while maintaining its rustic charm. The views were amazing. We watched the sun rise a couple of morning on the back porch and enjoyed the sounds of turkeys in the early daytime hours.
Brian and Dale have a super place and were extremely responsive to our pre-visit inquiries. The 5 of us enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again!!. The rental process was seemless once we got past the user error on my part. Still cant figure out what I was doing that day but Dale got it all straight for me.
We are located a short driving distance to horseback riding, golf, water sports, several lakes, white water rafting, Brasstown Bald, hiking, John C. Campbell Folk School,John Holland School OF Lapidary Art, Cherokee Casino, Crane Creek Vineyards, Georgia Mountain Fair in the fall and summer, and of course the wonderful fall foliage.
