Absorb a bit of history in our 145 year old + converted barn, built by a 19th century sea captain who sailed around the 'Horn' in the China Trade. The outside has the nicks and dings, and the effect of the sea air over its 145 years [that's on the agenda], but the inside is completely refurbished and furnished. From the porch swing is one of the best views of Penobscot Bay, with deep-water ships, day-sailors and schooners from Camden. From the windows of the master bedroom see the Bay Joanna Colcord saw as she wrote her sea Chanties. Sit on the private deck and enjoy watching the boats go by. Sunbathe on the beach below.

Searsport has a world famous Marine Museum, antique shops and a Antique Mall with dozens of stalls. Belfast is 6 miles down the road with a host of art galleries and specialty shops. Camden is 45 minutes away, the homeport for several one and two mastered schooners, available for a day sail or longer.In the other direction, about 12 miles away from Searsport, is the 1812 Fort Knox. Penobscot Narrows Bridge has the tallest observatory tower in rural America. Bar Harbor is 1 hour away. If you are an early bird or a night owl you can watch the sunrise or sunset atop Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, the first place in the US the sun touches.
