Beautiful + Peaceful
There are five cabins in this small community, set back from Penrod Street so you really feel like you are away in the mountains. The nice thing is, you are walking distance to the main road, Charlie Clark's Steakhouse, Eddie's Market and several little shops and restaurants. Cabin 5 was fantastic with two porches. The back porch with the hot tub and fire "pit" faced the forest and was totally private; the front had a dining table and grill. Even though the front faced the other cabins, they are nicely spaced apart so you don't feel like you are on top of one another. The exterior of the cabins are beautiful and newer; interiors are "cabin-like" but very comfortable. While in Pinetop, I did check out other cabin properties and I'm SO glad I chose Pinetop Vista Cabins; much nicer than the rest. The owner, Sue, was wonderful to work with, very friendly and accommodating and available by phone when I needed grill-starting instructions (hint: turn on the gas!).
Pinetop is really beautiful and has many hiking trails (Rim Trail, Woodland Lake Park, Springs Trail #633). It is worth the $2 to pick up a White Mountain Trail System Guide from the Lakeside Park Ranger station. My dog and I hiked several times and also enjoyed walking through the great neighborhood to the west of the property.
It was fun to cook out on the grill, but also had a fun happy hour at Charlie Clark's (with a band), delicious triple-berry pie and lunch at Darbi's, fabulous quiche at Cafe Bocado, an incredible dinner at Salt Restaurant and Wine Bar, and a charming breakfast and shopping at Moseman's Metal Werks. There are a lot of little boutiques and art studios/galleries (don't miss High Country Art Gallery, an artist co-op).
The cabin would rate five stars if the kitchen were a bit updated and the bedroom carpets cleaned. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again and have already referred friends to stay here as well. It was a wonderful week away and I hope to be back at Pinetop Vista Cabins next summer!
