Great East Lake in August

The Pros:

* Great East Lake is a big gorgeous lake
* Use of canoes, kayaks, floats, etc were a great bonus
* Kitchen is large for a cabin
* Nice big family style table that can fit everyone at it
* Basement has a ping-pong table for any rainy days
* Tons of beds in the house
* Screened in porch is awesome and keeps the house cool even on the hot summer days
* There are a couple of firepits which are perfect for a summer night

The Cons:

* The road in is VERY VERY rough
* There is no handrail down to the beach meaning it's difficult, dangerous for grandparents or very young to make their way to the water
* Furniture was from the 70's and starting to fall apart
* The dock was extremely old and felt like it was going to fall apart and it did come off it's moorings when we had our boat docked to it
* Once at the lake the owner is some what difficult to get a hold of if there are any problems (emergency numbers on fridge were wrong).

Recommended for: Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Owner's Response: This is a classic waterfront home. It has all beautiful stone work all the way to the beach with no need for intrusive handrails or the like. Nature prevails.

The furniture is clean and very comfortable allowing guests to enjoy there every moment and not falling apart.

Emergency numbers if so needed are provided in the "Welcome Package" and are mobile numbers so that guests can reach us directly. If you've ever been to the Lakes Region coverage can be spotty.

When docking your boat on the dock there is a side with bumpers in which to do so. If you choose to dock it on the other side as did this guest you may cause yourself unnecessary problems, otherwise everything works wonderfully and there is nothing but smooth sailing ahead.

Look forward to serving you and your family at the quintessential lake house location in the Lakes Region.

Great Lake Getaway

I have been thinking of my week at this lake house ALL winter LONG! Perfect home away from home which reflects a respect by all of its renters to include clean lake water, sandy beach area, Loon calls, spacious living area with multi-levels to get away from the group to read or nap, wonderful big meal kitchen with lots of places for family and friends to enjoy food and company, plenty of sleeping areas, big windows and screened in porch, blueberries & black raspberries found on walks, dock for fishing, kayaking in still clear water and just all the fresh air! Pack up the food, family, friends, games, books, swim-suits and just relax and enjoy the place like we do!

Recommended for: Age 55+, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Summer Fun

This is the best way to enjoy summer in NH. Clean lake water, sandy private swim area, Loon calls, water view, away from neighbors, large spacious home, big meal friendly kitchen, company friendly, blueberries, black raspberries, sun & shade, dock for fishing, kayaking, multi-level floors - hide away spots for reading & napping, very clean and well respected by all renters, lots of wood, huge windows, screened in areas, plenty of parking, fire pit near water & gas grill. All that is needed are the basics - family & friends make it all that more special! Enjoy as we have!

Recommended for: Age 55+, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Spring clean someone elses house on your vacation?

I DO NOT recommend this property.
This property was difficult to get into. Not convenient to local store.The sun never made it to the beach area as promised because of all the trees.The water was clear up to your knees then weeds. Horseflys and mosquito's were bad. T.V. had an antenna and no cable.
Customer Service was poor.

Owner's Response: Hi Everyone,

I personally had the opportunity to meet Sid G. upon his departure after his weeks vacation at our gorgeous lake house. He couldn't say enough great things about how wonderful, big and accomodating our lake house was. As well as how great the beach was etc.

We were nice enough to allow him to bring two dogs because he insisted they were well behaved and would be no problem. We, after speaking with him outside and saying good by to him as he was leaving we went inside too find the following:

The house was left in a condition less than he received it. My wife and I spent over an hour each cleaning the house for the next renters.

Secondly and most disturbing, our 3 pieces sectional couch was torn and ripped by the dogs and was no longer in unblemish condition. We had to write a note to our next renters apologizing for it's condition and now are put in a position to spent our time, money and efforts to get back what we had prior to his renting our property.

His stay was so disasterous that his own grandkids left us several personally handwritten notes expressing there total joy, excitement and thanks for a great vacation. They are so precious we saved them. It was a very nice touch. If you would like a copy of the Sid G's grandchildrens testimonials we would be happy to provide them to you.

Thanks kids for expressing how much fun and enjoyment you had at our beautiful lake house!
