My wife and I are artists. We live across the lane from our rental. When the house came up for sale in 1985 we couldn't refuse.
Ken Woisard purchased this house in 1985
The house is a classic New England farm house. It has some modern features yet retains it's farm house charm with some natural and some painted floors. Located on a private lane right in the village, it shares the best of both worlds. Great safe place for kids.
East Blue Hill Village is a special place on the Blue Hill Peninsula. It is off the beaten track yet is close to the town of Blue Hill for shopping. There are lots of galleries and interesting places to visit, including hikes within a short drive. Some of Maine's best artists live close by.
This was our 2nd stay at The Long House in East Blue Hill - we returned because this location and rental is so delightful! East Blue Hill is nicely placed so that one can visit both Acadia and other Down East destinations (Brooklin - Deer Isle - Stonington - Castigne) in an hour or less. Easy walk to library, park w/ boat launch, and Curtis Cove is a huge plus. The house was ideal for our family: simple, clean, comfortable, well-maintained, everything you're likely to need is there! When you vacation here, you want a day at home - it is a restful, peaceful place and the sunny front porch is perfect for breakfasting in the sun. We hope to return for many years to come!
We had a very pleasant stay in this house. It had everything my family needed (2 young girls) and the owner was very accommodating. He provided a high chair for my one year old. While it doesn't have an ocean view it is located on very nice grounds and is quiet. I would recommend this to anyone and wouldn't think twice about renting again.
In short, the house was great and the owners were really great as well.
I would not hesitate to recommend this rental to a couple or small family. The location is a great base for exploring Blue Hill, the Wooden Boat School, and Deer Isle. Kayaking was easy to arrange and the cove down the street was very accessible for beach combing. The house was light, airy, and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and attractively decorated. The owners recommended local events and restaurants and helped us figure out the DVD player and WiFi connection. They were very helpful!
This house is a perfect rental for a family of four. Very clean and bright - with everything we needed. It is in a beautiful little village with one of the best beaches in the area (lovely cove) just a short bike ride away. Large lawn for kids to play, very child-friendly neighborhood - we even went crabbing on the little bridge nearby. Lots to do in the area - esp. neighboring Blue Hill. Kayaking, environmental cruise, sailing, swimming, biking etc etc. Owners very helpful and friendly. We had a great week!
Discover dynamic Blue Hill Village or hike blueberry covered slopes of Blue Hill Mountain. Experience the galleries, studios, and antique shops of Brooklin and Sedgwick. Watch lobster boats slip through the morning fog of Eggemoggin Reach off Brooksville. Visit the historic sites and unique shops of Castine. Enjoy leisurely fishing on Penobscot’s 18 miles of shoreline and interior marshes and ponds. Explore glorious bays and charming inlets under paddle, sail, or power. Whatever your pleasure, we welcome you to the Blue Hill Peninsula.
