Local Area:
Small hillside village for peace, tranquility and the quiet life, yet close to the spa town of Salsomaggiore, and the market towns of Fidenza, Lugagnano, Fiorenzuola - and the local provincial capitals of Piacenza and Parma. Close to the medieval castles of Castell' Arquato, Castel Nuovo, Vigoleneo, Bardi. Visit Giuseppe Verdi's birthplace, theatre and museum at Busetto - catch some local opera to go with the local food and hospitality.
This is genuine unspoilt Italy and can be likened to Tuscany, as it was 30 years ago - without the tourists. Yet due to its central location, the major cities and lakes in Northern Italy can be visited as day trips with a two/three hour drive or train journey, thus avoiding expensive hotel stops overnight. Use the Villa as your hub for exploring Italy.
Local Food:
We are right in the middle of the food belt of Italy, home to naturally produced proscuito, ham, parmesan cheese, pasta etc etc.
Sample the local trattorias where you will find superbly cooked regional foods together with quality local wines.
Or...have a restful night at home in the Villa, and try the local pasta speciality, freshly home made and recently frozen in your freezer. Take your meal outside and enjoy it 'al fresco', or even have a barbecue. Watch the sun go down over the hills with a bottle of local wine, also available within the Villa whenever you want it!! What more could a weary traveller require!
