La Bomba is a stunning farmhouse that has been lovingly restored and furnished to a very high standard. Situated at the foot of the picturesque village of Saint Paulet in the region of Aude, the house offers spacious accommodation for 12 people, a private pool, and wonderful views towards the Pyrennees. It boasts 6 luxury bedrooms, 4 generous bathrooms, a fab modern kitchen, an enormous beamed double height sitting room with a traditional Lauragais fireplace, dining room, a cosy 'den' with satellite TV and DVD, free broadband wifi internet access, and a library/study.

The 19th century house is bordered by a delightful stream, La Rigole, created by Pierre Riquet to feed his famous Canal du Midi. The property has a beautiful garden, nestling beneath the Chateau of St. Paulet, surrounded by sycamores and cypress.

Located an easy 45min drive from both Carcassonne and Toulouse airports.

La Bomba is situated at the foot of the village of Saint Paulet in the heart of the Lauragais region. It is a ten minute drive from three towns - Revel which has a fantastic market every Saturday, certainly one of the best in France; Castelnaudary which is the main town of the Canal Du Midi and is internationally famous as the home of 'cassoulet' ; and Villefranche-Lauragais which has great restaurants, a cinema, and excellent transport links.

A little further afield are the cities of Carcassonne and Toulouse. Both are about a 45 minute drive. Carcassonne is a UNESCO World Heritage site boasting an incredibly well preserved medieval castle. Toulouse is one of the most fashionable of French cities with superb dining, excellent shopping and fun nightlife. Both have international airports with regular flights from London and the rest of Europe.

The house is also close to the Pyrenees with a 2 hour drive to ski-ing resorts at Ax-les-Thermes and Andorra. The autoroute A61 is 15km.

Notes: This is a really substantial house offering very spacious accommodation. It's ideal for two families or a large group of friends and yet everyone can still find their own 'special' place. The beamed grand salon is the focus point where everyone can relax and eat as a group. There's also al fresco dining for 12 on the terrace and a further dining room where 8 can eat comfortably. There is Satellite TV offering access to all British channels.

Fantastic La Bomba

Our stay at La Bomba was fantastic. Its the perfect location for exploring the surrounding villages, vineyards, cities and sites. The house and grounds are wonderful and Sam and his wife have done an amazing job of renovating this charming old house. It's beautifully kept and each of the rooms have a unique character making it hard to choose which one to stay in if you're first to arrive! Sam was also extremely helpful and had some great recommendations. We spent several days lounging around the pool and going for walks through the beautiful countryside as well as making several day trips to visit the nearby medieval cities, local markets and national parks. With two full-size kitchens its also perfect for preparing large meals together using all the great food you buy at the markets!
La Bomba is also very secluded with only a single neighbour nearby who are also kind and helpful if required. This seclusion does mean that you really need a car but the 10 minute drive to nearest supermarket is through lovely rolling hills and farm land and never felt like a chore. The house itself also has several great lounges and sitting rooms making it perfect for eating and having fun when its cold out side.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it which Sam was kind enough to accommodate. We will definitely be back to stay again when we're able!

Spacious Relaxation

A haven of tranquillity surrounded by space that is the huge empty countryside of this part of sun-baked rural France. There is plenty of room for everything. Parking, bedrooms, poolside, and garden are all ample. If you are looking for a place to relax with the family and enjoy some sunshine this is it. The nearby village of Saint Felix Lauragais is lovely, has a great restaurant and offers stunning views.

First Family Holiday

It is seldom that reality exceeds expectation. I needed to find somewhere that would cater for the needs of everyone from one year-olds to sixty-year olds and most decades in between. La Bomba was just outstanding! The facilities were perfect for those who wanted to swim and play, for those who wanted to sunbathe and for those who wanted to explore the extraordinary cultural heritage of the region. The last two weeks have been idyllic and sunflowers will always now bring back the happiest of memories to all of us. I would unhesitatingly recommend this property to anyone.

Surpassed all expectations

We recently had a fantastic holiday here to celebrate the summer of all turning 30! It is an amazing house with beautiful rooms and tons of space. The house has everything you could need for self catering; 2 dishwashers, big tables for everyone to eat together and an outside BBQ. There was loads of fun stuff with a proper ping pong table, badminton and board games. We had day trips including a hike in the pyrenees, kayaking, visiting castles. A great sized pool big enough to play proper games and swim laps. I would not hesitate to have another holiday here and wholly recommend the property. There is nothing I would change.

Amazing holiday at La Bomba!

A group of 12 of us went to stay at La Bomba for a week. The house was absolutely beautiful - the photos don't even remotely do it justice! It is incredibly spacious with lots of nooks and crannies so we always felt as though we had so much space and weren't on top of each other. The house itself was spotless and the garden was in such a lovely condition with beautiful flowers. It is also equipped with everything you would need from spices to a DVD player! Sam, the owner couldn't have been more helpful- he was so responsive to all of our queries prior to arrival and provided us with a great handbook covering all things from opening times of local restaurants and supermarkets to nearby places to visit and telephone numbers of local taxis. On arrival we had a lovely welcome pack full of regional goodies which was so nice after a long drive down to the south of france! We spent much of the holiday relaxing by the pool but did venture out to Carcossonne and Toulouse, both of which are nearby for some lovely days out. The only thing I would say is that the location of the house is quite isolated (exacltly what we were after!) but I can't imagine being there without a car to get around. We were very sad that our holiday was only a week as we had such a great time in a fantastic house in a beautiful location - I can't recommend it enough. If I am ever in that part of the world again I will definitely stay at La Bomba!
