Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

The cottage is located above Kilauea bay and the Kilauea river valley. It is on a private estate and it is the only unit on the five acres other than the owners home. It is located with a breath taking view of the river and a partial view of the beach.

It is perfect for a honeymoon as the privacy and the details will make for a memorable stay. The beach is a short walk down a private ancient Hawaiian trail. The ocean is perfect for swimming or surfing and there is a secluded beach. Swim a few laps in the salt water pool if you don't want to go to the beach.

We bought this land and built the cottage on the bluff looking down at the Kilauea River and Bay to capture the views and tranquility the area offers.

What makes this cottage unique

We love to swim laps in the salt water pool after coming up from a dip in the ocean. The views of the ocean to the mountains from sunrise to sunset, the whales, the albatross that nest with us every winter, the perfect surf moments away.

Where dreams begin...

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely oasis of tranquility. Awaking daily to the amazing view and the light breeze wafting in the open window, and the wonderful sounds and smells of the natural flora and fauna all around. It was so peaceful and calming. Exactly what we were looking for. We only took time to use the pool once but wished we had used it more. The cottage was just the perfect size for us and was filled with everything you needed to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The fresh picked fruit and banana bread that Chris and Ken had left for us in the cottage was a welcome treat after our late night arrival. They were very gracious hosts and you almost never saw them but they were available if you had a question or to offer you their wonderful knowledge of places to explore on the Island. The private beaches and the amazing scenery below the property made it hard to leave and explore the rest of the Island as we just wanted to sit and breathe it all in. It was my 3rd trip to the Island and my boyfriends first and it is now our favorite vacation spot. We fell more deeply in love with each other during our stay here and he proposed a month later on a beach in Maui. As I write this (a little late since our visit in Dec), we are about to catch a plane to return to the Island for another romantic vacation. Unfortunately, it was a last minute trip and the cottage was already booked. Until next time.....Mahalo

This little cottage was great. The view is absolutely stunning, the cottage itself was very cozy and clean. We woke up to the sounds of nature, including the wild roosters that roamed the property. We liked this place because it felt very private and secluded, but then only a short drive from our favorite beach in Hanalei.

Ken and Chris were both incredibly nice and helpful. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family.

Nice time on the North shore of Kauai

We really enjoyed our time at "Honeymoon Haven." The bed was comfortable, and the hosts were very responsive to any concerns we had. The only thing we felt needed to be made more clear is that the cottage is NOT far away from the host residence. It's right next to it, and there is a definite feeling of being "in their space" though NOT from them. They are wonderful gracious people, and it seems that they welcome you to use the property, but it seems weird to us to use the pool as it is right next to the all glass sided house and therefore they would either be watching us, or us them... Other than that, as long as you know, you're not in some secluded place, it's a very nice place and worked perfectly for us. It's conveniently located just south of Hanalei which is a great hub of activity.

Owner's Response: The cottage is 50 yards from the home, separated by an 8 foot high fence. The pool is on the house side of the fence next to a screened in lanai. The glass windows referred to are facing away from the cottage and pool.

Wow! Words cannot describe what a wonderful time we had here. The cottage is perfect for a couple and has everything you could want or need. The property is a beautifully maintained tropical arboretum; it is breathtaking and private, peaceful and unbelievably relaxing. We walked daily to the beach closest to their property and never saw more than just a few people in the water or across the bay, and often had the entire strip of sand all to our selves. You will feel like you are in a pampered hideaway. Ken and Chris are fabulous caretakers – very friendly and helpful but in no way intrusive. Just the right amount of personal touch and seclusion, beginning with the incredible flower arrangement and fresh fruit waiting for you in the cottage that Chris handpicked from her garden. This was our first trip to Kauai and we would not consider staying anywhere else in the future. We loved the North Shore ambience. The cottage is conveniently located with easy access to everything on the North Shore, and is not far from the airport or the South Shore. We can’t wait to go back, hopefully again next year.

We had an amazing experience at this secret hideaway. Very comfortable, quiet and romantic. We had the beach to ourselves most of the time. The hike down to the beach is short and very beautiful. This hideaway gives you the best of both worlds from the views overlooking the river on one side and the beach on the other. We highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to escape the hustle and bustle.
