Photos and Description of the Mpumalanga vacation villa rental

Sabana (named after a tributary of the lovely Sabie river which flows through the complex) is a spacious, fully equipped house set in the secure Kruger Park Lodge development about 20 minutes drive from the Phabeni entrance to Kruger National Park. But there is not just the wildlife of the Kruger to see. An easy drive into the Drakensberg Mountains takes you to a world of canyons and waterfalls. At Kruger Park Lodge there is something for all the family, be it the Gary Player designed golf course or the swimming pools, tennis courts, bars and restaurant. Or why not simply chill out on your own veranda with a cool drink and a herd of gazelle grazing just feet away? The welcome is warm and you will have an unforgettable experience. Sabana is one of the larger type of houses available at Kruger Park Lodge and offers excellent value for money.

Location

Nearest airport:   Nelspruit at 60 Kilometres
Car: recommended

Sabana is located near the Kruger National Park in the Kruger Park Lodge golf resort, which is on the edge of the small modern town of Hazyview. Hazyview has everything needed, just like the UK., but the shops are much more fun! Its an interesting and easy 400 km drive from Johanesburg on excellent roads or 60 km from Nelspruit where the regional airport has links to the rest of South Africa, including Jo'burg. You'll need a hire car and this can be collected at Nelspruit or Jo'burg. All the main stream car hire companies have offices at these airports and you can easily book on line.

Notes: Sabana is fully equipped, spacious and the sort of house you could live in permanently if you wished. There is a large deck (or stoep), part covered and part open so you have a choice of sun or shade. The master bedroom has French doors leading on to it. The BBQ is built in, undercover, and wonderful for those cook outs using the superb value foods you can buy in South Africa. The high ceilings give a sense of space and airiness, with electric fans as well as air con in the bedrooms. Furnishings are luxurious, all linens and towels are there and the maid service will look after you. Sabana really is a home from home, with space to chill and soak up the sounds and ambiance of Africa while reflecting on the wonderful things you've seen - be it the close encounters with big game in Kruger Park or the lovely scenery and sights of the nearby Drakensberg mountains. Just planning your next day in this fascinating part of the world is fun because Africa is so different.

Additional Information: Please contact us for our web site address and for more details including a plan of the house. We can be contacted by e mail or by telephone in the evenings if you would like a colour brochure. The local village of Hazyview has everything you need and includes some very pleasant shopping precincts. All medical services are available locally. Holiday insurance is a must. The climate is sub tropical which means winter (in June) is equivalent to a very pleasant English Summer. Summer is a lot hotter! The area is green and hilly with rivers and interesting countryside. The Kruger Park is only about 15 minutes away, or the Northern Drakensberg Mountains about 45 mins. The latter offers a total contrast from the lowlands.

References: Our visitors book is full of praise for Sabana, Kruger Park Lodge and the area with all its interesting things to see and do. But what better recommendation can there be than the fact that four of Sabana's guest visitors have themselves bought similar houses at Kruger Park Lodge?

Things to Do: Its tempting sometimes to plan everything in advance, but really we recommend you make your bookings for game drives, activities and your plans for visits when you arrive. You need at least two days to visit Kruger National Park. The staff at KPL will be only too happy to help with bookings of any type and we also have an excellent travel agent friend who is a resident and can sort out any longer trips you might like to combine with your holiday - what about a few days at Victoria Falls for instance, or a week at the Cape? Its all there and very, very good value. Locally there is every sort of activity from golf to horse trekking, quads, canyons, fishing, rafting, balloons and helicopters as well as a traditional village with food and dancing, an old gold rush town in the mountains and wonderful scenery. Excellent restaurants abound and are superb value.

Golf: The golf course is Gary Player designed and rates are very reasonable. Its an interesting course with a variety of challenges, immaculatley kept and which adds considerably to the ambience of the Kruger Park Lodge. Local hazards include gazelle and monkeys!

Other Activities: Safaris, quad bikes, white water rafting, canyon jumps, balloons, microlights.
