The rates for this condo are super low. Off season rate is $125/night for a lovely condo in top condition on the sand. Daily maid service is provided. Two couples can easily share this condo and split the $125/night rate. The condo at these rates is a huge bargain. High season rate of $175/night also is well below the competition. We now have 2 pools since we are just completing a new pool (11/11). Large, quiet condominium on the sand. Fabulous views of the Caribbean.Great snorkeling and diving right in front. Condominium is in top condition and has a fully equipped kitchen and daily maid service. We do have wifi on the property.
Smoke-Free condominium has a large private patio with hammock. Each bedroom has a king size bed and private terraces. Property is walled for privacy and has a pool and is beautifully landscaped. We have an ideal location at the end of Half Moon Bay in Akumal where the road ends. We are set back 50 yards making our location both very private and quiet. We have an excellent management team that is very responsive to our renters and are right on the grounds to help solve any problems.
We have many restaurants in Akumal and are within a short drive to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. Shopping is also available in Akumal.
We are within driving distance to Chichen Itza, Uxmal and Coba. Many wonderful excursions are available. Car rental is available and reasonably priced right at the Cancun Airport which is one hour from the condominium.
This is not a densely populated area. No large hotels. We are located 300 yards from wonderful Yal Ku Lagoon. Owner has a guide to the area and is available to help renters with travel plans.
We have just added a vonage phone and offer our renters free usage of this phone for calls to the U.S. The vonage phone is in our manager's office. We ask that calls be limited to 5 minutes.

the owners are Carol & Marty Klein. We are a retired couple that purchased the condo in construction in 1991. It is our goal to make this the best condo and La Iguana the best complex in Akumal. Our other owners are agreement to do all we can to make La Iguana Condos the best in Akumal. I (Marty) love to talk to prospective renters to tell them about the condo and the Akumal area. I have a lot of suggestions for excursions and for restaurants in the area. Because I have owned now for 20 years, I have a lot of knowledge about what the area offers the visitor. Serving our renters is on the top of our list so that they will have a memorable vacation in Akumal and will return and recommend us to family and friends.

We were visiting the area in 1991 and thought this was paradise. We purchased the property while it was in construction when we saw the bay, the location and the view we would have. The snorkeling in Half Moon Bay was wonderful and the fact that the water was so clear and that waves did not break on the shore but broke on the other side of the protective reef. We have a large covered private patio behind locked doors. This patio has a hammock, sofa, table and chairs and a storage area. There are also Caribbean views from this patio. The condo does not have a/c because we have not needed. Our unique location at the northern end of Half Moon Bay and on the north side of the building gives the condo exposure to breezes off the Caribbean, from the north and from the west. These exposure provide almost constant breezes that keep the condo comfortable. We also have high speed fans throughout the condo and have 2 tower portable air coolers that can be placed where ever needed. Even during the hot months of July & August we are almost always comfortable in the condo. Because we do not have a/c, we can rent the condo for rates that are below our competition that does have a/c. The condo is always in top condition and our on site manager is there to handle any problems instantly.
A top notch condo on the sand for incredibly low rates. $175/night in high season and $125/night in low season. Two kid friendly pools on the grounds.Quiet privacy, amazing views from almost everywhere in the condo, wonderful breezes that blow off the water. The amazing amount of activities that are available, the wonderful native people that service the area. The brightness and comfort of the condo. The wonderful management team that is on the grounds and assists with any problem we or our renters may have. Our great maid Ana who always has a smile on her face and does a great job of cleaning the condo everyday. All the wonderful artwork throughout the condo. The fully equipped kitchen that has all the appliances you would need. Yal Ku Lagoon is a wonder and is only a few hundred yards from the condo. We keep our rates very low because we do not have a/c. We have high speed fans throughout the condo and supplement that with portable tower air coolers. Because the condo is at the far northern end of Half Moon Bay, we benefit from our location and the fact that we have exposure to breezes from the east (off the bay), from the north (northern winds are very common in Akumal) and from the east. These exposures and our screened windows that open to let the breezes in, keep us cool and allow us to keep our costs down and therefore our rates very low. Air conditioning is very expensive to maintain in Akumal and why pay for something that you won't need. I have many renters who will attest to the comfort of the condo in the summer. During the months of September through April it almost never gets to the point that one would use a/c but condos that have it charge higher rates all year.
This condo was terrific. My husband, daughter and I enjoyed a week at the condo in September 2014. Located on Half Moon Bay in Akumal we snorkeled right outside our front door. The big windows in the living room afforded us a wonderful view of the Bay.
The condo was fully equipped with water gear, lounging chairs and hammock as well as kitchen supplies. The staff was fantastic - very helpful with suggestions. Hector helped us hire a local chef for one of our evening meals at home - a real highlight enjoying his artistry with Mayan food.
Condo owner, Marty, was very accessible and a wealth of information as we planned our week there.
The condo is close to so many venues - cenotes, Tulum, Coba.
We loved it and felt so comfortable during our stay.
My spouse, twelve year old son and I just returned from a week at La Iguana #5 and could not have been happier with our snorkel holiday. The condo is fully equipped as a home away from home. The Mayan art and furniture add a distinct touch to what is a fabulous layout. The condo would be ideal for two couples but could in a pinch sleep six. If you are looking for a relaxed, quiet spot for snorkelling, checking out the local cuisine, and the turtles in Akumal Bay then this is it. Marty recommended a car rental but we opted for a transfer from the airport, a stop for groceries and we were all set. Bike rentals were readily available and this suited our needs for checking out the local area and getting out and about. In the end, we came for the snorkeling just seconds away and were not disappointed. Marty was a consummate host and offered information and was readily available when I had questions. This was an affordable, low season getaway that I can only heartily recommend. Many thanks Marty for a wonderful week!
The view from this condo is literally breath-taking. The pictures do not do it justice. We kept wondering if we were in a dream; it is so open you almost feel like you are outside. We really enjoyed the snorkeling right in front of the condo (for good swimmers) and also in Akumal Bay to see the turtles. The on-site staff were very friendly and helpful. We rented this knowing there was no AC; although at times it was a little warm, the breezes kept it comfortable. The only complaint I have is that the memory foam mattress on the master bed was too thick for my comfort. So I just slept on the cushions on the benches in the main room which were very comfortable (my daughters loved their bed in the second room). We had our own hammock to hang on the porch (but were offered one by the staff). I hope to be able to return here again and have a feeling that some of our family members may be looking into it after seeing our pictures! Marty was always very prompt and thorough answering all of my questions. We also went to Coba and Tulum; and really enjoyed a beach restaurant to the south of the ruins- San Francisco(have to drive into town and take left up road on coast). Also enjoyed La Buena Vida on road to condo, and ice cream at Lucy's in the Turtle Bay Bakery and Cafe (many restaurants were recommended we just didn't have time to eat at all of them). Recommend grocery shopping in Tulum or on way down from Cancun area; kitchen is well stocked for cooking (though no spices except salt and pepper). Recommend having a rental car if staying at this condo. An amazing condo for a great price!
We had the pleasure of staying in this condo the week over Christmas. When we saw the amazing panoramic view of the ocean, we were spellbound. This condo had everything we could need in amenities, privacy, location and ambiance. The kitchen was fully equipped and gave us the freedom to enjoy some meals lingering in front of the amazing view. Even with 4 adults and 2 children, it was very spacious. There was a lot of space to stretch out and relax. With the spacious balcony area overlooking one of the 2 pools and garden, and the sunning area in front of the ocean, there were more than enough areas to have your own quiet space when you wanted it. The beds were very comfortable, and our showers were always hot. Our maid was very sweet and kept the condo sparkling, and our filtered water stocked. The condo stayed wonderfully cool, with the cross-breeze coming through. I also very much enjoyed the art and decor around the condo. There are so many touches that display the owner’s love of the culture and the art of Mexico.
We also loved the location of the condo. Although its true that you really do need a vehicle to get around and explore, any inconvenience at driving to meals or groceries is well worth it. The Akumal beach resort area is lovely and fun, but busy. We loved heading back to our quiet oasis. A few days before Christmas, information went out to the condos regarding traditional Christmas dinners you could order from the Turtle Bay Bakery & Cafe and pick up on the 24th. We thought it was a great value, and the food was delicious. This enabled us to still enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner together with our family (but without the dirty turkey pan!). Right in front of the condo is wonderful ocean snorkelling. Within a short walk is also the calm Ya-Kul lagoon, which made us feel like we had jumped into a page from National Geographic.
Marty was a pleasure to deal with, and he has a ton of great tips to make the most of your time. We are already dreaming and plotting of when we can return to Akumal, which we seriously hope is later this year. I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else there. Thank you!
I agree with others that this condo has the best view of all, being right at the end of the cove of Akumal. I love it early morning, and evening when all the lights come on. We have stayed here a couple of times, and it is a lovely place to stay. The condo is well planned out and has lots of space. The floor to ceiling windows allow you to see everything on the water, but no high rises, nor large buildings, nor noisy discos anywhere near. You are within easy driving distance of the best part of the coast here, although this is one of the best beach areas, and the beautiful lagoon is a very short walk away.
We come for a short break from our life in the interior on the Yucatan peninsula, and I am sure we will be back. The staff who manage the condo are very good, and everything is perfect when we arrive. The photos, while good, can never do justice to the actual view!
The condo is beautiful and so very Mexican! A wonderful location, close to the best attractions on the coast. The view is beautiful, and while the weather was very windy, with large waves, the bay was quite calm - enough for snorkelling with the turtles. Don't bother with the turtle tour, just start swimming off the beach (wear water shoes and beware sea urchins!) The town has one of the best gift shops I found. Rent a car (be careful, research the pitfalls. If your credit card covers any of the liability insurance, make sure you take the paperwork with you). By having your own car, you arrive at attractions such as Xel-Ha hours before the tours arrive, and pay much less. Who wants to spend their holidays on a bus? There is a tv, but only used as a dvd player, so plan accordingly. We did not miss it. A 5-minute walk to Yal Ku lagoon, snorkel all day for @ 12.50/person. Entrance to Tulum costs 57 pesos (5.00 CDN). It was honestly the best vacation we have ever had. Thank you so much Marty for your recommendations and the use of your condo. If you are planning on renting this condo, book early because I am recommending it to every one I know, and planning already for next year.
Birdwatching, caving & cave diving, Mayan ruins, jungle excursions. I do have some weights that I would be glad to loan to any interested renter to work out with. We have a cook that can prepare a meal for renters. Ask me about it if you are interested.

I have owned my condo now for 23 years and do all renting myself. I do not have agents. I personally will assist renters plan their vacation. My goal is to make sure my renters have a wonderful vacation at a very reasonable rate. I am happy to assist with planning and to answer all questions.
We require a 30% deposit to confirm your reservation. Balance is due 60 days before arrival at the condo.
Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (USD) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.
