Classic Maine camps on the edge of Damariscotta Lake have been converted into housekeeping cottages with present-day amenities while retaining their rustic charm. Outdoor fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, claw-foot bathtubs and large screened-in porches offer a classic Maine vacation experience.

Many of our customers have met here and made fast friends, timing next year's vacation so they can meet again. This is especially important for the children who develop lifelong friendships during their Sunset Cabins vacations. They entreat their parents to bring them back again and again.

I grew up in the Austrian Alps, and as an adult lived and worked in New York City. In 1984 my family discovered Sunset Cabins and fell in love with this beautiful place. It reminded me of the woods in Austria and we purchased the place two years later.
Aloisia Pollock purchased this cabin in 1986
When I lived in New York City I missed the country life and the Austrian woods and lake district near Salzburg. But I also loved the ocean. This unique setting gives me everything I ever dreamed of; a beautiful lake where I swim several times a day during the summer months, ski and ice skate right on the lake in the winter. My family and I love to take our customers on a ferry to a nearby island in Penobscot Bay and hike for the day and we share our secret lobster wharfs.
I fell in love with the trees, the sunset and the simplicity of this place. My love for my haven has not diminished in over 25 years.
Damariscotta Lake is a large lake with 4,625 acres and a max depth of 110 feet. It has an abundance of fish and there are approx eight Bass Tournaments on the lake each summer. The average trout or salmon is usually 15-20 inches long. -
Damariscotta Lake is also home to loons, osprey, bald eagle and a variety of mammals. We even saw a moose stroll in our parking lot and swim across the lake.
