no toilet paper, leaks, unrefunded deposit

we rented the house for 4th of july weekend and ran out of toilet paper because the owner did not leave any extra rolls and a ceiling that leaked into the kitchen whenever the 2nd floor shower was used.

worst was the owner's claims that we left the house in worse than normal wear and tear condition. i repeatedly asked for invoices than showed extra costs above normal cleaning and offered to have her take the difference from our deposit, but she never responded to this issue, claiming that this was not necessary. we were a group of 8 women, all mid-aged professionals and all of us have rented houses many times and not one of us have *ever* had such issues with an owner not refuding a security deposit.

we followed her sole instructions of taking out all trash in regulated trash backs and left the house in normal condition.

feel free to rent this house if you don't mind getting shafted on your security deposit.
Owner's Response: I am sincerely upset with this situation. When I walked into my life long charming family summer home after these tenants departed, there was raw garbage (including food) left on the floor in the kitchen (honestly, I could tell you what they had for dinner the night before by what was on the floor and bags of garbage left in the kitchen). The sink was filled with dirty dishes. Every bedroom was trashed. The ceiling leaked because the shower curtain was not placed inside the old fashioned tub when the tenants were showering. I spoke with Suzie numerous times, trying to amicably resolve the situation with no success. I have had success renting this beautiful family home for years and have not had any problems before. Please disregard this review. I can provide references if so desired.

Wonderful Vacation in East Marion!

Our family very much enjoyed our great vacation in East Marion.. This lovely farm house is so charming and relaxing.. Plenty of room for our 10 family members, both adults & children..
Our daily walks to the beach, a short distance from the home to gather shell, stones and just feel the sun & breeze was a treasure..The yard around the home was a great place for children & adults to relax and play games..
The games and puzzles inside were great for the children on one rainy day.. Every thing for the home was supplied.
We did bring paper plates and such, didn't want to do dishes.. The upstairs shower is a little tricky, but was figured out in no time.. There is no DVD player for kids movies and such, but there is cable for the TV viewer. It is also air conditioned. If you are looking for a quaint old farm home to to relax and renew, this one is it.. It is close to many attractions in the area.. Plenty of things to do in the area for kids and adults....
So glad we experienced this lovely, peaceful and charming home for our family vacation this year...

Great House for Weekend Winery Tours

My friends and I rented this house for my 40th birthday. We planned a weekend of winery tours and shopping.

The house is very accurately represented in the photos. It was very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. We liked the privacy of the whole house, especially the back porch. Several deer stopped by to visit!

The only negative is that due to the sloped roof, the shower upstairs is not for tall people! If you are under 5-5, no worries. Otherwise you really have to use the stall shower in the bathroom that is downstairs off the kitchen.

I think this house would be great for an extended family or a group of friends. We had a great dinner at the nearby Hellenic restaurant. There are not a lot of stores in the area, and they don't stay open late - so plan ahead!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
