A Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

This was our fifth time renting a place in Hawaii and by far the Cottage by the Sea was the best.

Everything was very new and clean, a great value for the price. It is located in a very quiet area of new homes separated by acres of former sugar cane fields. The hosts, Yu Yok and Mike were very fiendly and helpful. They respected our privacy and we respected the fact that this was a family area.

The cottage location is in a fantastic location to explore old Hawaii. Just a short drive south into Hilo for the Farmer's Market. Our return from Hilo usually was by the scenic drive. Look for the "4 Mile Scenic Route" sign on the ocean sidea. The scenic drive ends just a short distance away from the cottage.

Most of our time we explored places norith of the cottage driving the Old Mamalahoa Highway and side roads to discover some beautiful areas. We visited many of the state parks in this area and old plantation towns. Many days our plans changed as we discovered another beautiful area to explore.

Some unexpected sightseeing came from the cottage views. Rise early in the morning to watch cruise ships pass by with all their lights and great sunrises. On a clear day look out the bedroom windows to see the snow on the top of Mauna Kea. For three days we were reminded that the cottage is a place to relax and take it easy, that was the time it took a Giant East African Snail to make its way from the front to the back of the patio.

We enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year.

Sunny Cottage in Pepeekeo

  • 4 of 5

After the stark, but beautiful, landscape of South Kohala this cottage was located close to the tropical landscape that covers most of this side of the Big Island. Staying in the cottage gave us a chance to see what life in the "country" would be like. It allowed us to take daily trips of exploration, such as Hilo, a volcano tour, Pahoa, Hawi, Laupahoehoe Point Park, and the Hawaiian Botanical Gardens. The location is quiet and secluded and our hosts are lovely people, checking in with us to make sure our needs were met. Sunrises and the moon over the water were just some of the incredible views from the cottage. We appreciated the filtered water in the kitchen as well as having access to a washer and dryer, the large bathroom and closets, and the secure premises. It was hard to leave this lovely area.

Lovely clean home in great location!

  • 5 of 5

Cottage on the Coast is conveniently located near Hilo and Akaka Falls, but it is so quiet & secluded, you don't feel like you're close to anything. The home was clean, open & had everything we needed to enjoy our stay on the "Hilo side". We had lovely sunrises over the large yard facing the ocean. Also, the back yard has a great view lined with palm trees and we saw several rainbows against that awesome backdrop. The washer & dryer were greatly appreciated as it helps reduce the amount of luggage needed.

Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise with us.

Everything was great...

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay on Hawaii. In this cottage everything was perfect, new, very clean and well arranged. Also the owners were very beautiful, friendly, likeable and always at our disposal.

Everything what we required was already there. Specially appreciated was to having the laundry facilities, a large bathroom and a full kitchen,

We enjoyed our stay very much and started some nice daily trips from the cottage. The cottage is very good located, Hilo and a lot of other points of interest are in the close area. We spent wonderful days at this accommodation and would strongly recommend "Cottage by the Sea" for visitors and explores of Hawaii and the area of Hilo.

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome and for everything to Jasmine and Mike. If we will visit Big Island again, we would like to book this cottage again.

Impeccable Cottage in a great location!

  • of 5

This was our first time in Hawaii and we spent a full week on the Big Island splitting our time between Kona and Hilo-side. We stayed at the "Cottage by the Sea" for 3 nights and absolutely loved the place - it was impeccably clean and is situated in a beautiful secluded area yet conveniently close to major attractions like the Volcanoes national park, Akaka falls, Tropical Botanical Gardens, etc. Given we had two kids under 2 years of age, we definitely appreciated the openness of the property! To top it off, Jasmine and Mike were exceptionally gracious hosts and made us feel very welcome. We would strongly recommend "Cottage by the Sea" for families looking to explore the beautiful northern/eastern coast of the island.

Wonderful visit!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was nice to come back to such a peaceful place after a busy day spent exploring the island. There is so much to do in the Hilo area but we also took the saddle road and explored other areas on the island. Our girls loved the expansive grounds and spent lots of time trying to weave grass skirts and just enjoying nature.

THANK YOU!
