Our Original restored Palmer+Kriesel designed Alexander mid century sits on 11000 square foot lot on a cul-de-sac and was featured in the New York Times 'Home section' entitled 'Desert Cool' in 2005. Inside, you'll find classic modern treatments such as Eames tables and chairs, Case Study beds in both bedrooms, mixed with completely renovated bathrooms and kitchen with everything you’ll need. High vaulted ceilings and refinished flat cement flooring throughout with Design-Within-Reach throw rugs and FLOR tiles.
The Living Room features a Hi-Definition TV and DirectTv with movie channels (HBO, SHOWTIME, CINEMAX), and a SONOS sound system. The master bedroom also features a wood burning fireplace. Wall-to-wall sliding glass doors open to a kidney shaped pool, surrounded by palm trees. There's even a private outdoor lounging/eating covered patio, framed by Frosted resin panels. 2 separate in-ground gas fire pits, one by the pool and living area, and the other by the hot tub, provide some privacy even when together on the property.
As of September 2014 we’ve upgraded the house with new pool loungers from Design-Within-Reach, re-plastered the pool including new imported tile from Japan, upgraded the TV to a new 50” LED Sony, and added new LG Washer/Dryers. Last year we upgraded the hot tub to a Hot Spring Spa with Moto-Massage® jets, complemented by a Quartet® jet system, to soothe your neck, shoulders and back. Its comfortable seating, styled armrests, and SoothingStream® water feature provide maximum relaxation.
THREE LOUNGING AREAS : Additionally, a third seclusive lounging area off the middle bedroom (away from the other areas) by the hot tub features original Balinese wood loungers. Overall - magical and relaxing...
COMPLETE PRIVACY: The house is located on one of the larger lots in the Racquet Club Estates and is completely enclosed and private (backyard, pool ,spa, lounging areas).
GOLF + PARK: While 'true' golfer's probably won't want to use the clubs we make available, we do have an old set at the house for your use...in case you want to golf at one of the local public courses for fun.
Just one block away is a large grassy park with trees and benches, etc.
Owned by Hollywood entertainment professionals.
Privacy. The house sits on one of the largest lots in our neighborhood of restored historical Alexander homes.
We loved staying here! I wanted to move in permanently. The house is casual but elegant. Cool
contemporary art, great mid-century furniture, smooth concrete floors and a chic grey 70's
fireplace in the master bedroom (loved it!) awesome outdoor areas...loved the lava rock
firepits and covered patio. I love the Parker and Ace but didn't really ever want to leave the house!

My family and I had a great four-day weekend in Marcel's cool little PS pad. Every morning I took our big poodle for a walk, made bacon and eggs for the family, and laid by the pool with my better half while reading a month's worth of NewYorkers. I also took the time splash in the pool with my sons and play croquet on the green grass. We enjoyed our poolside cocktails at about three o'clock and our barbecued our dinner at seven. The best part was ending the day in the jacuzzi with the Mrs. watching the light of the Palm Springs Tram climb up the shadowed, Mt. San Jacinto, back-lit by the day's setting sun. All in all, a pretty perfect weekend. Thank you.
We had a fantastic week in this property. Marcel runs a slick operation and the property is well maintained. Pool and hot tub are fantastic (who would think you'd use a hot tub in the desert!) and we enjoyed the outdoor fire one night. The kitchen is well stocked, BBQ is great. Bed was comfortable. Location is good for downtown Palm Springs - we walked every day and it was about 35 minutes or a 5 minute drive. Overall a fantastic property and highly recommended.
We recently stayed in Palm Springs for the first time and were fortunate enough to stay at a wonderful mid century home. In the first part of our stay we shared the house with our daughter and her family so there was six of us. We never felt on top of each other as there is more than enough room inside and outside of the house. There is only one shower in the master but we never found it to be a problem as there is two toilets.
The yard is absolutely beautiful with lots of sun and shade morning, afternoon and evening. I really enjoyed the butterflies and the hummingbird that showed up every afternoon. We had the pool heated so we swam at all times of day. The hot tub is nice too but we especially enjoyed the outdoor table for dining. With such an amazing yard we spent most of our time outside. The area is so quiet and peaceful you find you totally relax.
The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and there were a lot of towels available as well as a great washer dryer if it's needed.
Being only minutes from the downtown was a great plus and Marcel the manager is a dream to deal with. We would definitely stay in this property again.
This was a perfect place for my friends and I to spend a fun weekend without kids or husbands. The yard is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of different seating options for morning, afternoon and evening. We swam in the pool, lounged in the hot tub and especially enjoyed the outdoor table for dining al fresco. The landscaping is beautiful. We didn't spend much time in the house because the yard was so amazing, but the kitchen is well stocked for cooking and there were a lot of towels available. The only qualm is that there is only one shower, in the master bedroom, which may be difficult for multiple families but wasn't a problem for us. I would also add that one of the best things about this rental was the attention to detail and promptness displayed by the manager, Marcel. I have rented 10 to 15 VRBO properties, and he is the BEST host I have ever dealt with. I think every email I ever sent was responded to within an hour or less. I would definitely rent this property again.
I write this review poolside on the last day of a 5 week stay at this property. The only thing about this house I don't like is the despair I'm feeling about leaving it.
Marcel is a great host and he's done a terrific job with this house, updating appropriately while preserving the charm and character of this classic house. All of the furniture is high quality and stylish. The kitchen is stocked with everything a home cook needs. Just before I arrived he upgraded the stove and dishwasher There are tons of towels for the shower, pool and hotub as well as a high capacity front loading washer and dryer to refresh them. The TV and SONOS sound system provide great indoor entertainment when you need it.
Palm Springs mid century homes are really about seamlessly blending indoor/outdoor living and this house really delivers this. The first thing I admired about the yard was the beautiful old palms and other trees that are gorgeous and practical as they provide the perfect amount of shade and break the wind when it guests. Sitting by the pool in the comfortable lounge chairs staring at the mountains through the backdrop of this yard does not get old.
The classic kidney shaped pool is perfect for daytime relaxing and its lighting made it a focal point while in the living room at night. It does get cool at night in the desert, so the firepits and hotub make it possible to thoroughly enjoy the yard at any hour.
I'm 100% thrilled with this house and hope to return asap.
It's taken me a long time to write this review... But that doesn't lessen its impact. First of all let me say that Marcel is awesome... Definitely a man with integrity and good will. This was our first visit to Palm Springs but hopefully not our last. From the moment we arrived at "Desert Cool" we knew we were in for a treat. I came to Palm Springs to see the worlds best in mid-century modern design. I not only saw it... but actually lived it! "Desert Cool" is an original "Alexander" home. Very mid-century... Very modern... And very cool. The home itself has been thoughtfully remodeled to the period. Very clean and very well maintained. Location is great, tucked away in a very cool neighborhood of other "Alexanders" and period homes. You will need a car to get downtown. But realize that just about wherever you are in Palm Springs, you'll need a car to get anywhere. We flew into LAX because never been to Southern CA we wanted to include a couple days near the ocean as well. This worked perfect for us. I'm not sure what else to say except you will NOT be disappointed with this rental home! I also have to give a shout out to "The Purple Room" restaurant and bar / nightclub / supper club. In my mind... a MUST visit in Palm Springs! Thanks Marcel for everything!
