Yep, five suitcases from us as well. And we gave the condo quite a test because we spent three months there, hiding from the Alberta winter. I wish I could describe the mischievous joy of waking up in the morning to the warm, bright sunshine and checking out the Edmonton Journal website to see the temperatures we were ‘missing’. We fed the ducks from our deck and watched the cranes and the heron swoop in for a visit; every day we chatted with Percy the Pigeon and his wife, Penny. Just occasionally a hummingbird would hover alongside the balcony looking for mosquitoes. And most nights we watched the moorhens (we think that’s what they are) pull their circular formation for a secure night’s sleep on the lake. It was so peaceful and the only noise came from fellow Canadians – the feathered kind! We’ve seen (and heard) them flying over our house in their V-formation every Fall, and we’ve seen (and heard) them flying over in their V-formation every Spring; now we know where the little devils head in the meantime, and what a wonderful choice they make! What a pleasure it was to sit on the balcony with a cup of coffee and watch the golfers go by. Inside, the condo has pretty much everything we needed and quickly felt like “home”. It’s just off Loop 101, although you’d never know because there’s virtually no road noise. There’s plenty to do in the area. We golfed, we watched pro hockey, baseball and golf, and we went for strolls in the hills and came back to cool off in the pool; these were excellent diversions because Lynne would have spent a lot more time (and money) in the many shops (and those darned outlet stores at Anthem, about 30 minutes up the highway!). There are good restaurants nearby to suit every taste and budget. Some really neat places are an easy drive away; Sedona and Jerome are “musts” – as well as the Grand Canyon of course, and we enjoyed the drive to Tucson. We had visitors from England for two weeks, and our son and daughter (plus husband) came for separate visits. Never once did we feel crowded. All the while, Barb was super-helpful and friendly – nothing was too much trouble, and the permanent resident neighbours are delightful. We’ll be back, for sure.
Owner's Response: Bill, you should write a book or be a poet, you have a wonderful way with words! Thank you for a great review, and for taking the time to write it. We enjoyed our dinner cruise and visit with you and Lynne, and do hope that we'll see you again in the future.
