WATERFRONT CONDO IN DOWNTOWN VICTORIA, VANCOUVER ISLAND
This trendy downtown condo at Mermaid Wharf has an up-market design which is contemporary yet warm and cozy. It is an open-plan studio style with bedroom alcove containing a queen size bed. The sofa is a custom-made, convertible double bed of commercial grade ensuring comfort. There is a full, well-equipped kitchen, gas fireplace, new wall-mounted flat screen 40” TV, new computer with high-speed internet plus free Wi-Fi. Taking care of laundry while you're travelling is easy here with the in-suite washer/dryer.
The location is great - on the harbour, close to the downtown area and an easy walk to many of our attractions and excellent restaurants. And due to the downtown location, it encompasses both the excitement and the business of an urban environment.
The living room views are of paddlers, rowers and the life that generally makes up the harbour, plus glorious sunsets over the water. Catch stunning views of the harbour and waterways from the rooftop patio which also has BBQ facilities.
Kayak and canoe hire is available a block away at Ocean River Sports. The dock is also a stop for the little harbour ferries – pick them up at many spots along the seawalks around the harbour. The condo is a short walk from the inner harbour, Empress Hotel, museums and Legislative Buildings. Chinatown with its wonderful restaurants and markets is two minutes away. Golf? Lots...from spectacular Bear Mountain designed by Jack and Steve Nicklaus, to fun and inexpensive courses, and many in-between. Victoria is extremely cyclist-friendly with many dedicated lanes - for venturing out-of-town or for more of a workout, check out the Galloping Goose trails which are accessed near the condo.

This condo's location could not be better for visiting downtown Victoria: it's right across from Chinatown, and just a few minutes' walk to the Empress Hotel (their buffet lunch is superb! Served in the Bengal Room, once frequented by Rudyard Kipling), the Royal Museum and IMAX, the Legislative Buildings and so on. The condo's condition was immaculate - wish our own home could be as clean! There's a useful desk area and there's WiFi. Underground parking was much appreciated as street parking can be hard to find. Maureen, the owner, met us at the entrance when we arrived and showed us around the condo. She was a super host! If you want a clean, comfortable and affordable place to stay while visiting Victoria, this is it!
This very cute condo is conveniently located walking distance from all downtown activities and easily accessible from the ferry locations. Maureen, the owner, is a wonderful woman and was very friendly to deal with and great at communicating back and forth. The unit is great for a couple or for a family with a younger child or a couple of guys visiting Victoria. The unit has great Internet and wi-fi service for those who want to keep in touch with loved ones or blog about their journey to wonderful Victoria and Maureen keeps a fairly well stocked pantry for basic kitchen/cooking supplies. We were provided with very clean linens and towels to last us through the trip. One must visit the roof top common area patio in the summer to enjoy it.
The one (very small and miniscule) downside was the loud garbage/recycling trucks that show up early on Friday and Monday mornings but that can be easily ignored by keeping the balcony door closed.
This was our fist visit to Victoria and we rented a condo from Maureen! This condo is exquisite with everything you need for a great vacation and the location is fabulous! Unit is clean and updated; beds are comfortable, sunsets are gorgeous and Maureen was helpful with ideas for places to eat and visit. We ate a few meals in which we really prefer to do. The location of this condo is absolutely perfect. It literally is a 10 minute walk from downtown Victoria. It was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The platform bed in the center of the space was a bit strange but comfortable. Maureen, the host was wonderful and very helpful. The condo is VERY secure, you have your own dedicated parking space in the gated garage (a big deal in Victoria as there is nowhere to park) the doors, elevator and garage are all keyed and have a security fob as well. You are very safe here. The water taxi drops you off literally at the back of your building so if you are exhausted from exploring you can just jump on and for 5 bucks you are back home in minutes with a tour of the harbour thrown in. Literally across the street is Canoe, a brew pub that is excellent. It can get quite rockin towards the end of the week and the weekend and you may need to shut all windows and the sliding door to keep the noise down. If had been hot it may have been not so nice. But we had absolutely tremendous weather and it was no problem. Bottom line, the condo is a perfect location to launch your vacation in Victoria, highly recommended.
This apartment is in a great location, right across from a restaurant called Canoe. It has good amenities including secure parking and bike lock up. Many good restaurants within walking distance.
My husband and I had a wonderful relaxing getaway. Maureen was very gracious and informative with any questions we had prior to our booking. The location is wonderful and provides easy walking access to the many restaurants, coffee shops and inner harbour activities within the downtown area. The condo was very clean and the"little extra's"provided make this rental an exceptional value. I would highly recommend this property.
There is an award winning brew pub/restaurant across the street. Kayak and boat rental at the on-site marina. Lots of golf. Many good restaurants of all types closeby. The condo is easy walking distance for concerts and events at Save-on-Foods Memorial Arena.
