Set among pines, the whitewashed 'La Pineda' apartments are a mere 5 minute walk from the heart of the old fishing town of Calella de Palafrugell with its sandy coves, inlets and beautiful beaches. La Pineda has a large swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court and table tennis. The apartment has a newly fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washer dryer, microwave and fridge freezer. The living area is a large sunny room leading on to a terrace with views towards the sea. There are three good sized bedrooms (one double and two twins). 24 hour security is provided by the concierge. There is a parking space available at extra cost accessed by security coded remote control. This gated community is extremely safe for families with children and there is also a small children's pool. This is an ideal setting both for those who enjoy lazing by the pool and for the more energetic who prefer to burn off a few calories on the tennis court before seeking the shade of the pine trees.

The Costa Brava is one of the most beautiful parts of the Spanish coast with it's wooded coves, pretty beaches and high cliffs. Calella de Palafrugell is situated on one of the most picturesque stretches. Along with it's neighbours Llafranc and Tamariu, Calella was once a fishing village and it's whitewashed villas and narrow streets make it a charming low key and low rise resort, popular with Catalans. The French border is a 90 minute drive away and attractions such as the medieval fortified village of Pals and the archaeological site of Empuries are within easy distance.

The town is lovely. A very 'middle class' resort with restaurants, bays, clear water (child friendly) and a lack of tacky shops.
The apartment is 3 or 4 minutes walk to the beach. It is a large apartment which feels very homely and has all the facilities needed and they were all working fine! Its was clean, the beds comfortable. The tennis court is great, the pool also has a junior pool and is big enough to swim lengths in if you like. Overall it was perfect for us. The Spanish do keep late hours - but that is just part of life. The owners had left tennis rackets, table tennis rackets etc and this made life easier & more fun. Recomended.

We had a lovely week in this apartment in September 2008. It is very much a home from home - both spacious and well furnished, decorated and equipped - we particularly appreciated the modern kitchen with dishwasher etc, the large collection of books and children's DVDs, and the buckets and spades we were able to borrow on trips to the beach! The only slight downside was the road behind the property. It's not busy but drivers do tend to rev their engines to get up the hill. Not a big deal but worth mentioning.
La Pineda itself is a very pleasant complex with good facilities, including the tennis court, the swimming pool and the children's splashpool. It is just a few minutes walk from the centre of Calella which itself is lovely, and we really enjoyed walking around the coast to Llafranc which has a great beach. Tamariu and Aigua Blava were also really nice.
Calella has all the local amenities you need, including some nice restaurants, and 5 minutes away by car there are good supermarkets in Palafrugell.
We also visited various nearby medieval towns, including Pals and Peratallada which were very pleasant.
The owners of the apartment provided good customer service, and we would definitely recommend it to our friends.
