Waldoboro Vacation Rental farmhouse

We rented this property in August 2008 together with one other couple and my own two teenage children and it provided us with an excellent introduction to the Maine coast. I had been fully briefed as to the state of the house beforehand by a previous tenant who recommended it as the perfect Swallows and Amazons base and it was everything we could have hoped for (bar the quality of the tv!), being well used to English seaside holidays. The position was terrific with a wonderful outlook over the sound and the proximity of four other very pretty houses did not impinge in any way. Although old fashioned, the interior provided the six of us all with all we needed and we were not expecting five-star comfort for the price. It is fair to say that we arrived in the teeth of a thunderstorm and the damp did initially permeate a little, but otherwise we were well set. The outside dining table and barbeque were in constant use and provided the perfect spot for lengthy lunches, and both the boat and the tennis court were an added bonus. Equally the house is well placed as a base from which to explore: we took in several local towns, a country fair, some golf and inevitably a day's shopping in Freeport and the eating out was always good value.
All in all we had a wonderful week and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the house to other families incorporating all ages - hoping they get the blue skies and sunny weather we had.
