Photos and Description of the Florence vacation apartment rental 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 2 living-rooms, sleeps 3

Elegant apartment in the historic center of Florence. Two blocks from the Duomo. Centrally located in one of the oldest streets in Florence, the Via La Pergola area. Very convenient for sightseeing, Ponte Vecchio etc. The apartment is very quiet and peaceful. It is in a delightful city-centre small 'neighborhood' with its own good, reasonably-priced restaurants, coffee-bars and artisan shops, near the open-air food market of Sant'Ambrogio. The apartment has been restored with immense care, using the finest Tuscan materials, with fine tiles, parquet floors and marble bathroom. It is really well furnished. It is airy and bright, with a small terrace. The beamed entrance hall is set up as a second living-room so the apartment has a really spacious feel - 805 square feet. It is ideal for 2/3 people. Wi-Fi Internet access. Really good A/C (included in price). It is on the third floor (in US terms fourth floor). There is no elevator; the only drawback of this perfect apartment.

Florence is one of the most popular destinations in the world and deservedly so. Its stunning art and architecture, museums, churches and galleries, great food and wine are world-famous. Outside Florence, you can explore nearby gems like Siena, Cortona, San Gimignano and the wonderful Chianti countryside. Florence is a lively city, with open-air markets. S. Ambrogio market is a short walk from the apartment. There are numerous theatres and music throughout the year. A trip to Fiesole, in the hills above Florence, is about 20 minutes by No. 7 bus and well recommended. In the summer, there are several public swimming pools and the beach is 1 hour away (frequent trains); there is skiing in the winter in Abetone not far from Florence. We are happy to provide details. Sit on a sidewalk cafe and enjoy! Stay near Cortona: Combine a stay in Florence with a stay in our lovely cottage near Cortona (sleeps 4): Property 171412 on this site or contact us for details.

Further details for this vacation apartment rental in Florence, Italy

Visitors Book: A delightful home from home, and great to get back to after our days out. The flat is much bigger than it seems! It is really spacious. We were amazed - we were not expecting anything like this level of comfort. Try the coffee bar up the street on the corner - awesome! A tip: go marketing in the open-air Sant'Ambrogio market for food like we did: better and less crowded than the big market at San Lorenzo, and just around the corner. Those flights of stairs got us so fit - we worked off all the great meals!

Your home in the heart of Florence: The apartment is located in a genuine Florentine neighborhood, full of life and all services like pharmacy, coffee-shop, antique dealer's, hairdressers just a few steps away. By renting an apartment, you get to share in the life of the city and the neighborhood. There is a supermarket nearby but you may want to try shopping in the nearby Sant'Ambrogio open-air market: it is the one used by the locals so you know its got to be good!

Churches and Synagogue: There are several Anglican and Episcopalian Churches in Florence and the historic Synagogue is within walking distance of the apartment.

I can't think of enough superlatives to describe this wonderful apartment. It's absolutely beautiful....sort of like living in a fine home while on vacation. The furnishings are very tasteful and the bedroom is enormous. The bathroom is attractive and efficient. Though located in the city center, it is blissfully quiet day and night. The air conditioning works very well, which was important in August. There are two front rooms, live half living rooms a small kitchen and separate attached eating area. The kitchen has a washing machine, and it's fun to hang your clothes on the clothesline out the kitchen window! An apartment of this quality would cost double this price in a major city in the US. I felt so lucky to be staying here for a whole week!

It is a great location, a five minute walk from the duomo. We had no problem walking to the train station, art galleries and sights....all very easy and close enough to walk back to the apartment to rest or take a quick nap.

The owner could not have been nicer or more helpful. Very accomodating and had excellent suggestions. Book this this place before someone else does!!!

Fabulous Apt in Florence

Bethann San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Review Submitted: August 13, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My husband, 13-yr old daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights in July. This is a great apartment (and I would also highly recommend La Colonica, same owners, self-catering lodge outside Cortona) - very well furnished and equipped, and the location couldn't have been better. We walked everywhere - most major sights are within a 15-20 minute walk and the neighborhood is nice to walk in. Nearby is the Mercato Sant Ambrogio - great, and the flea market - Mercato delle Pulci - very quaint by day, and by night, folks spilling onto streets from one of the cafes. One of our favorite restaurants in that same area is Il Pizzaiuolo (book in advance!). Great pizza and seafood pasta. Owners of La Pergola are helpful from the moment you begin to inquire and book. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family. Far superior to staying in a hotel and a much better deal.

Real Florence experience

Review Submitted: January 27, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We stayed here after Christmas and over New Year to celebrate our anniversary. This is a gorgeous apartment – the sort that you always hope you will find and rarely do. As there are a number of reviews already, we will focus on the things we found important.

Making the reservation was easy. We got quick replies in perfect English to our many questions in the months leading up to our stay. The owner helped us with our museum bookings and he did not charge.

The street is one of the most historic in Florence, full of ancient palaces standing side by side much smaller buildings like the one the apartment is in. This area still has a life of its own, unusual for Florence city center. In our block there was the Accadi, a very good neighborhood favourite. We ate there several times, and we enjoyed the genuine Florentine food, the friendly service and the very moderate prices (less than 30 Euro each for a full evening meal with wine)! We do not eat lunch but they do a very good value lunch (set menu, limited choice).

We enjoyed getting to know this particular bit of Florence well – one of our great finds was the chapel of St Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi, up the street. This is almost impossible to spot unless you are looking for it – there is just an ordinary street door, but when you go in, there is a perfect cloister with garden, the gorgeous church itself, and the mural by Perugino. We went to the New Year Mass there and it was an experience that we will never forget.

We shopped a lot at the open-air market (Ambrogio) and enjoyed going back to the same stalls to get our produce and being recognized! There is a supermarket much nearer which we used occasionally. I went to the local hair stylist and we both went to the local coffee bars and enjoyed them. People were friendly and good humoured. The other people in the apartment building were Florentines and were friendly and welcoming when we met them on the stairs. That made a real difference and we felt we really did make contact with the people.

We loved this apartment and what the other reviewers stay is true: it is very clean, very well maintained, very well furnished, well-decorated, perfect for sightseeing etcetc.!!! Two big negatives: the apartment is not at all suitable for young children or for anyone with mobility issues. Our stay in Florence, not just this apartment, but the whole experience, was magical. We had such a good time.

Our Home in Firenze

JohnandSusan Raleigh, NC -USA
Review Submitted: January 18, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
We were pleased with every aspect of this beautiful apartment. It is well designed and furnished and the location couldn't be better. We stayed for a week and used it as our base for walking tours in the old city areas of Florence. We never needed public transportation although it is conveniently available down the street. Also nearby are supermarkets as well as an internet center and many restaurants, cafes and gelato shops. We did not need the air conditioning but did use the heat on a couple of chilly mornings. The washing machine was a welcome amenity and we hung our laundry out to dry in the sunshine. All three of us are over 60 years old and we had no problem with the stairs. We met a couple of friendly and personable neighbors and became regulars at a cafe a few doors down. The place is very quiet and security was never an issue.

good base in Florence

simeon Dublin, Ireland
Review Submitted: June 13, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We stayed in this apartment a week ago. We picked it because of the reviews on this site, so here is ours.
This is a centrally located place - no need for public transport. Everything is within walking distance. There are some small inner city buses passing about 100 yards from the apartment. We did not use them.
We picked an apartment because we wanted to cook and eat in - the kitchen is well-equipped but small. There is a good sized dining area leading off the kitchen. We shopped almost exclusively at Sant Ambrogio market which is not far off - it is cheaper than the central market, and less people.
The apartment (particularly the bedroom) is very quiet - that was a big plus.
We did not find the stairs a problem but it is not suitable for those with mobility-impairment.
The apartment is extremely well-ventilated (we did not use the air-conditioning, which we do not like).
As for the rest, I agree with the other reviews. The apartment is very well decorated, and well maintained. It was good to have this as a place as a base. Overall judgment - This was a good experience and offered value for the money.
