The River House is the perfect getaway for the whole family, or just the two of you. Located just outside the SW/Paradise Entrance to Mount Rainier National Park, on the banks of the beautiful Nisqually River. The cabin is private and secluded. The river, and the mountains are your views and you're free to explore them all. The cabin is located off the main road in a quiet, wooded area. From the cabin door you can go walking, biking, hiking, snow-shoeing, or cross country skiing. The magnificent, glacial Nisqually River makes a beautiful setting for your recreation.

Relax and unwind in the newly remodeled River House. This two bedroom, one bath, knotty pine accented home is surrounded by forests. All luxurious bedding and towels are provided for you. The full kitchen is stocked with service for eight and everything the modern chef needs. What makes this cabin unique

The River House is the best location in proximity to views, and the river that I have ever seen in Ashford. You can even see the tip top of Mt. Rainier. The entire Tatoosh range spreads out in front of you and makes for a spectacular view. The real gem is being right on the banks of the River. Just upstream 100 yards is the confluence with Copper Creek. The branch of the river that runs in front of the house is gentle enough for the kids to play in. You can easily walk down the banks of the river bed to the main part of the river, which is much wilder. This is the perfect place to spend a few day reconnecting with nature for both kids and adults. The property includes two extra lots on the river, so you can explore down the river as far as you like.

Great Cabin

  • of 5
My friend and I stayed three nights and liked the cabin. The only improvement we would suggest would be to have better reading lamps in the living room. The overhead lights were not good for reading as they were too bright and the small lamp too low. We are readers so this was an issue for us. The pluses were how well the kitchen was stocked and the great riverside hot tub. Also the park was very uncrowded and beautiful.

Quiet Cabin Close To Rainier

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed three nights in the River Cabin. The furnishings are very comfortable. The location is very conveniently located close to Mt Rainier National Park. The hot tub was a perfect solution to aching feet after a full day hiking in the park. We enjoyed sitting in the living room every morning or in the hot tub every evening watching the weather and the river. We loved it.

There are only a couple downsides... the area is prone to power outages. Unfortunately, there is no cell phone coverage in the area. So, if the power goes out (as it did for us one evening), you just have to ride it out. A recommendation for the owner would be to install a hardwired phone, instead of a cordless phone so the renter can call the power company or for other emergencies. In our case, I had to drive about 15 minutes until I could get a cell phone signal to call the owner to report the outage to the power company.

This is a great place to get away from the rat-race of city life. We would definitely rent this property again. I have already recommended it to my parents who are planning a trip to the area for the spring.

PS. Tammi, the owner, is very nice and helpful. Thanks Tammi :-)

Excellent experience with one-day getaway

  • 5 of 5
Thanks much to Tammi for setup everything nice and smooth. Both driving direction and door access code are simple and straight forward. All interior details are tidy and very well organized; exterior (water front + mountain) activity spaces are excellent. The only negative thing is that tap water comes with red or muddy color. Tammi has warned us in guest book; however, we still worry some while taking shower or cooking. Thanks again.

Nice location

  • 3 of 5
The location of the cabin is perfect if you're planning on going around Mt. Rainier trails and hiking areas. The hot tub is a nice addition to the house after a long day at the mountains. Having all said that, we have trouble opening the numerical door, it took us many tries and still the door won't open and since we didn't any phone signal, we have to go to a nearby restaurant and make a phone call to Tammy but she never answered. We went back to the cabin and tried again, and this time we got lucky and door opened. Good thing there is a wifi at the cabin and we were able to email Tammy about the problem. Since we got there at 3pm, we planned on going to nearby trails but we could not leave with a peace of mind because when we tried opening the door again, it won't open. It was frustrating because we don't want to leave and won't be able to get back in esp with no phone signal. Anyway, we end up leaving and I emailed Tammy about the door problem. When we got back, there was a spare key in the front door. (I guess it's safe to leave it there), so that is what we use to get in the cabin.
The cabin overall has everything that you need but it has that old house smell probably from the old carpet, but it's tolerable!

A Gem!

  • 5 of 5
This place is an absolute gem. The cabin is well equipped and comfortable, quite private and the setting is a show stopper. Having coffee in the morning on the sunny deck with the snowy tip of Mt. Rainier in the distance, we were 50 feet from the Nisqually River and 5 miles to the entrance of Mt. Rainier NP. We could opt for sightseeing and exploring or relax in this wooded setting with the hot tub and quiet.
The only glitch we had was an empty propane tank for the outdoor grill. We notified the owner and she was very quick to bring us a full tank right away. Customer service! We would stay here again without even thinking about it.
