This tastefully furnished apartment features a master bedroom with a king sized bed with en-suite 3 piece bathroom and opens on the very large main balcony (30 sq m). The large 2nd and 3rd bedroom share the WC and 2 piece bathroom with a large shower stall. Both bedrooms face on the west exposure 2nd balcony. The fully equipped kitchen and large Salon/Dining rooms open on to the main south exposure balcony. Along with central air-conditioning the apartment includes electric shutters in all rooms. A charming large tree over hangs the west end of the main balcony enhancing its view of the mountains behind Cannes. The 2nd balcony includes a view over the Jardin St. Nicolas and elegant 'Belle Epoch' villas. An underground enclosed parking garage is included. The apartment shares the dual basin swimming pool. More guest comments...: Rating 5/5 'Fantastic -the website is true!-The description and photographs of the apartment are very accurate but there is a wow factor when you open the front door. It is very modern, clean, spacious air conditioned apartment with a fantastic balcony and pool. We had read all this on the website but it still exceeded our expectations. You do get the sense of entering a luxury block of apartments because of the security, marble construction and cleanliness. It is a slow short walk (6-8 minutes) to the railway station and then a short walk (6-8) minutes to the beach through the shopping centre. We ate out and walked home at 9-10pm and felt perfectly safe. Francoise , the concierge, was an excellent help as was the owner Mathias, who was very helpful through the whole process. I would definitely recommend this apartment to a friend and we will be very happy to use it again in the future. Dave & Sue from England' June 2009

Very Pleased!

We were very pleased with this apartment. It is conveniently located near the train and bus station (a 5+ minute walk that we easily did with our young children) as well as the beach, restaurants, etc. We even walked to Le Musée de la Castre in the old town from the apartment. There are several nice playgrounds within a short walking distance if you have young kids. The building and location are very safe and quiet. No hesitation walking around at night.

The layout is perfect for a family. The kitchen was well equipped (except some new forks and knives are needed) if you are planning to cook and eat in. All appliances work well and the washing machine was quite helpful. Easy to dry laundry on the deck. The wireless internet works great.

For the most part the apartment is clean and well maintained. Would have liked to see a little more attention to detail on the cleaning and some towel racks in the bathroom, but we would definitely recommend this property to a friend or would stay here again ourselves.

Maybe this already exists and we didn't see it, but it would be so helpful to have a map and list with recommended restaurants, grocery stores, boulangeries, boucheries, atms, etc. in the neighborhood. The first 2 days we were there it poured rain and didn't really have the opportunity to walk around and explore. The super marche on the corner was flooded and we didnt know where the alternate grocery stores were. This information could go inside the folder in the apartment and/or online. We enjoyed the Boulangerie called Pains de Provence on the corner of Av. Republique and Merle. Fantastic croissants, sandwiches, salads. Stop there for a sandwich on the way to the beach. Also, there is a grocery store called Piccard (from apartment walk down to Av. Republique and turn left and is next to pharmacy). They have prepared gourmet frozen foods. Very easy if you want to eat in but not spend a lot of time prepping/cooking. We were here for 2 weeks so it was helpful.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Vacation in Cannes

The apartment at Le Ponant is just as advertised. Roomy, clean, and nicely
furnished. It easily accommodated our group of five, one of whom uses a
wheelchair.

It's an absolute joy to eat breakfast with some coffee on the terrace and
to return later to have a glass of wine. The living room/dining area is
great for chatting with your group. All appliances worked as advertised,
plus it was a great convenience to have a washing machine for your clothes.

The location is pretty much ideal. The train station is just a few blocks
away, which we took full advantage of for day trips to Grasse and Monaco.
It is just a 5 minute walk to the beach and a little closer to get to the
farmer's market where we got fresh food to use for our breakfast. Other
meals were taken out.the closest good restaurant is at the end of the
street, as is the grocery store where anything you need can be bought
easily.

The two pools on the property were very refreshing in the late summer heat
and offered another place where your group can congregate together at the
end of a long day.

For disabled guests, the building has complete step-free access, including
the pool. There is no roll-in shower but both the bathtub and shower stall
have showerheads on a hose.

The agent met us just when she said she would and was on-site on the last
day meaning we could leave on time without having to track her down. The
owner responds very fast to any e-mails for enquiries and is very easy to
deal with. I look forward to staying here again when I am in Cannes.
Owner's Response: We will make additions to the apartment to facilitate easier access to the shower stall for the handicapped.
We make every effort to ensure that our guest enjoy their stay!

Two Weeks in Cannes

This apartment was secure, clean and well equipped and the air-conditioning invaluable as temperatures soared into the high 90s. The children especially enjoyed the pool, which was rarely crowded. The proximity to various facilities was ideal--supermarket, various fresh food shops, pharmacy and a Lidl for all Lidl fans. Buses (1 Euro!!) and the train station were a short walk away and the beach approximatley 15 minutes. It was ideal for exploring further along the coast and into the hills.
Mathias was friendly, helpful and very efficient and made our holiday arrangements as easy as possible. Francoise was always charming and very helpful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Mathias' apartment and look forward to retrurning in the very near future.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
