Come enjoy a relaxing time in our cozy renovated country farmhouse located in the beautiful rolling hills of the northern Catskills. We're only about 3 1/2 hours from New York City, but are truly a world away!
For your group of six or less, our house has three bedrooms, 1 full bath and 1 half bath with a fully equipped kitchen featuring both a modern gas stove and a 1926 Glenwood cookstove. There's a dining room for evening meals and a cozy table by the wood stove in the kitchen. This is a house where you can put up your feet and just relax!
You'll find that our house is the perfect location for exploring the outdoors...whether by a walk or a bike ride on the Catskill Scenic Trail, a day trip to Cooperstown, or a night-time bonfire in the fire pit on the hill above the house. Or maybe you're just looking to relax? Settle in with a good book you picked out at one of the local used bookstores or watch that movie you been saving for a quiet day. So...lots to do if you want to....but only if you want to!
Wonderful relaxing house. We have rented many houses in Catskills and this one is by far our favorite. Antique stove was a great bonus. It kept the house very cozy. We'll definately be back.
Christmas, with views of farms and rolling hills. We didn't get snow, but everything else was perfect. We read books and cooked and enjoyed our time together. Everything was closed for a few days, and that was fine with us.
The farmhouse, now painted a pretty shade of green, was perfect. Rooms are close to each other, except the upstairs, so we were always together instead of spread out throughout the house. The bed, with a memory foam mattress, is extremely comfortable. Cooking in the kitchen was comfortable. Although the warm temperatures prevented the use of the 1926 stove, it was a beauty to look at. The home is very clean and well maintained.
We met Barbara, Scott and Eleanor and knew they were there for us if we had any questions. The fresh eggs were a delight.
This was an odd time of year to visit local shops as many were closed. We did drive to Oneonta and eat at Brook's Barbecue, a busy crowded restaurant. We arrived with big appetites and found the food good. The bookstores in Hobart were fantastic and we spent hours browsing the collections.
Thank you Barbara, Scott and Eleanor for such a wonderful visit!
My wife, myself, our 8-year-old daughter and another couple stayed at the farmhouse for a long weekend in early November.
We had a great time and felt right at home in the cottage, on the grounds and throughout the surrounding area.
We had some cold weather the first night and the hillsides were dusted with snow, which gave everything an early-winter feel.
We cranked up the wood-fired cookstove in the kitchen and it filled the house with that warmth that only cast iron can provide (there's also a regular furnace and thermostats to heat the place).
The house was clean, neat and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed with cookware, utensils, dishes, etc.
On the first morning, our host gave our little girl a quick tour of the henhouse on the working farm, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
After breakfast that included some of the farm-fresh eggs, we took a long walk on the rail trial right out back. It passes through quiet old farm country bounded by the wooded hillsides of the northern Catskills.
We spent many hours in Hobart's bookstores right up the road, there are seven of them by my count and the town is a mecca for anyone who loves reading.
We toured some of the country roads and stopped in to some antique shops, farmstands and sampled some other local spots.
We hope to return in the spring with our bikes to ride a longer section of the rail trail. Also, I'd like to bring my flyrod to fish the West Branch of the Delaware, a stone's throw from the farm.
In all we had a great time and I would highly recommend the farmhouse to anyone seeking a quiet getaway.
As our first VRBO rental, the process could not have been easier! Barbara was very informative and accommodating to a last minute schedule change. The home was immaculate upon arrival!! There were pamphlets with suggestions of things to do, and we enjoyed our time at the farm. Kids loved the trail and bike riding around the property. We visited the County Fair and enjoyed visiting with the very talkative chickens. The fire pit was a great way to end each day and enjoy spending family time together. Dont forget your telescope for stargazing!!
We had a lot of fun with the cookstove in the kitchen! In fact the kitchen was so well equipped, we did not eat one meal out! We enjoyed preparing all of the local meats and produce we found.
The house itself was cozy and we felt very at home. We only had a couple of instances where we needed to contact Eleanor and Scott, and they provided immediate help. We look forward to returning!
Could not find any hotel in Cooperstown that was not way overpriced. Did a search on VRBO and found this wonderful farm house. Went with my buddy and his family and the place was really great. Very spacious, nice kitchen, satellite TV and comfortable beds and a nice area out back with a fire pit. Went on a nice run into town and on trail. Town a few minutes away had restaurants and place to get groceries. I would highly recommend staying here. Only 45 minute or so drive to Cooperstown and a scenic drive.
My fiancé and I stayed at the farmhouse for a long weekend in April. The house was prestinely clean and well kept. There is plenty of room for a larger family, with twin beds in a large bedroom, the master bedroom, and an additional sleeping area upstairs. The kitchen was bright and well equipped for a weekend stay. The wood burning stove was perfect for the chilly nights. With convenient access to the hiking trail behind the house, nearby coffee and book shops, and a grocery store, everything you might need is relatively close by. Eleanor and Steve were very helpful and knowledgeable which made us feel at ease in unfamiliar surroundings. Very easy drive to the baseball hall of fame only an hour away. I would highly recommend the farmhouse to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. We will certainly be returning.
