Great location in Ensenada

My family and I lived in Ensenada for the 2008-2009 school year, while my wife was a teacher at a private school there. During the Christmas holidays, our good friends, as well as my wife's brother and father came down to visit. Our apartment in the center of town was much, much too small to allow us to spread out, so we started looking for something that was close to town, large enough and comfortable enough for all, and preferably close to the beach.
Score!
The house is large, clean and comfortable. It is at the southern edge of town near the Walmart and Costo and Home Depot. And it is essentially right on the beach (though you have to walk about 1/2 block, I guess...such a hardship!). If you happen to be driving down to Ensenada from southern California or someplace, this is a great location. You can easily buzz into town where parking is a snap, zip to the Valle de Guadalupe to the wineries, or head south toward the Bufadora. As a location, we much preferred this to the larger but more remote (& predominantly gringo) location of Punta Banda.
The owner as well as the property manager were very helpful and easy to work with. The place was very clean & tidy. Plenty of room for 8 to sleep comfortably.
We did experience a few glitches having to do with not having enough kitchen utensils (we actually did a lot of cooking and hosted some of our Ensenada friends for dinner--but had to bring our own can opener, for example). Also, the dining room table sits only 4--but the place can sleep 6 or 8 easily. And the property manager left us with only 4 sets of towels, though we did make clear we were 8 people. Still, we made do, had a great time, and would happily stay there again if we were faced with hosting more out-of-town guests.
A word about the beach. This is not the romantic, secluded beach of the area. There are plenty of others around, but this is the urban beach. Sometimes it's beautifully clean, sometimes it's not. There are lots of people on it, quite a few cars and ATVs at times, and the occasional horse. But it's a safe beach for kids (no huge waves or dangerous undertow), and it's plenty long and flat for a good morning run. The beaches of Punta Banda are going to be more secluded and quiet, but they are not any cleaner, really, as they are all sitting on the same bay. If you want a beautiful beach, head south toward Santo Tomas and take the 17 mile dirt road out to La Bocana. Then come back to town for a taco.
Owner's Response: This is a great location and the beach is perfect for a run or walk in the morning, then people start heading out to the beach area .where there is a area where people can horseback riding and Atv driving, but plenty for room for swimmer's.The other area's in ensenada that this guest had explain are great also.we will be adding more item to our rental as we go into 2009. for our guest. Thanks for staying with us Reese.
