Waterlemon Villa is a private 3BR, 3BA vacation home located on the hillside overlooking Coral Bay, St.John. At 700 feet above sea level, this casually elegant retreat is high enough to capture the breezes of the trade winds and close enough to the harbor to watch the sailboats come and go. The breathtaking 50-mile view up the Sir Francis Drake Channel extends all the way to Spanishtown Harbor on the southern tip of Virgin Gorda. Two queen bedrooms and one twin bedroom accommodate up to six people so it is ideal for three couples or a family, but the privacy of the location and pool make it just as enticing for a honeymoon couple or an anniversary trip! Larger groups can rent the house next door as well and accomodate up to twelve total.
The house is equipped for gourmet cooking with Cuisinart pots and pans, good knives, extensive cooking utensils, a microwave, and, of course, a blender and a margarita set! (This is a vacation home, after all). There is a Weber gas grill and plenty of serving dishes and glasses if you wish to cook. The wrought iron table on the upper screened-in porch is an ideal place to eat and enjoy the view.
There are multiple options for relaxing at the Villa from chaise lounges at the pool, to rocking chairs on the lower level porch, to the wicker set on the upstairs screened-in porch. The comfortable wicker living room set in the great room is a terrific place for watching TV or a movie or just listening to the stereo.
Coral Bay restaurants are five minutes from the house, and the outstanding snorkeling beaches of Salt Pond Bay and Leinster Bay are a scenic 10-15 minute drive. Put the beach chairs and the cooler in the car, grab the towels and spend the day exploring. The natural beauty of St. John awaits you!
Coral Bay and Waterlemon Villa are an easy 20-25 minute drive east from the ferry dock in Cruz Bay. Come and visit, paradise is calling...
Waterlemon Villa welcomes children 8 years and older. The house is not suitable for young children due to the height of the porches and retaining walls. In addition, a steep staircase between the first and second floors may make the house potentially undesirable for people with difficulty navigating stairs. Waterlemon Villa is a no-smoking, no pets property.
Waterlemon Villa is a wonderful place to stay. It is located in Coral Bay and has the most spectacular view. I took several books to read, but just could not get into them because I couldn’t take my eyes off the view long enough to do so. The villa is top notch, very nicely decorated and meticulously maintained. There is a screened in porch on the living/kitchen level that was in constant use during our stay. It was great to be able to sit, relax, enjoy the view and not have to worry about the skeeters. There was also a lower level veranda that was not screened that was equally terrific. The two master bedrooms opened to this veranda which also had access to the pool. Excellent seating on both levels and at the pool (which had plenty of loungers and a dining set). The screened porch also had a dining table and we ate all of our meals there. Enjoyed the outside shower attached to the master bedroom. Once again, gorgeous view. The second bedroom was a duplicate of the master. There is a third bedroom with twins on the upper level. With the exception of the third bedroom and bath, there are incredible views from every room in the house. The owner was a pleasure to deal with, as was the on island manager. I highly recommend this villa, but beware, it is very difficult to have to leave when the time comes!Taylor --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our trip to Waterlemon Villa was also our first trip to St. John so we did not know what to expect. We were VERY worried that the lack of AC would be a problem in July. Many people on the forums discouraged us from renting one without air based on our concerns but we took a chance and do not regret it one bit! We are from Alabama and run our air constantly from April to September! The breezes that blow continuously were a joy and believe it or not, one night we actually got a little COLD (it had finally rained about 30 minutes)!
The view from the villa is breathtaking and the villa itself is magnificent. The beds were great and the fans kept us cool each night. Waterlemon has so many great touches that made everything so much easier. We are used to walking directly out to a beach when on the Gulf Coast and trips to the beautiful beaches of St. John require some packing and planning. Ellen (the owner) has taken that into account and provides chairs, coolers, and beach towels, which makes this so much easier!
The outdoor showers were really nice. I actually put my contacts in BEFORE the shower so I could enjoy the view during the shower! There is also an indoor shower for those nights when you come in late or for the less adventurous so all tastes are covered.
There are so many nice touches, like books, movies, candles, spices, and a really well stocked kitchen, not that I believe in doing much cooking on a vacation, but many people do! There are even hairdryers in the bathrooms with diffusers! I didn't take mine to save space so that was great! Another surprise was a speaker for our MP3 player that is NOT an IPOD. I was also able to take my computer so we could find info while there.
The drive up was not nearly as frightening some other driveways we have seen on the forums. Backing out required a few passes but my husband mastered that quickly.
After we got there, I was really glad we picked Coral Bay. I really can't imagine staying around Cruz Bay and the villas with views of just the ocean are too much like what we have at home. We researched places to stay for hundreds of hours but it really paid off! We have been to other places in the Caribbean and I didn't think any place could be more beautiful that St. Lucia, but St. John just has so many wonderful beaches and the views to the other islands make it a cut above. The colors of the water are amazing and the snorkeling was fantastic. This was our best trip yet!
We loved our stay at Waterlemon Villa! This was our third trip to St. John, and our first time staying on the beautiful Coral Bay side of the island. The views from the villa are breathtaking, with a constant breeze to keep the porch and house cool and comfortable. The villa is well appointed with comfortable and upscale linens, and every amenity you will need, from beach towels and chairs, to floats for the pool. We did not eat at the villa (other than for breakfast), because the girls in our family love to experience all the local flavors of this special island -- my husband, however, would have loved to stay in and cook in the well-furnished kitchen, while taking in the view. The owner is such a pleasure to work with, and we are now huge Coral Bay fans! As with any villa on St. John with a great view, the climb and descent to the home requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle. This is a sweet and beautiful place to spend a vacation, at a price that is reasonable for such an amazing view in paradise.
We just returned from Waterlemon Villa and I can't say enough about this property! The owner,Ellen, is a delight! She gave us such great information about the island. She truly wants you to enjoy yor time at Waterlemon Villa and is willing to answer any questions! The photos for the property do not do it justice. The view is incredible! It never gets old!
The owner truly thought of everything. The kitchen is full equipped with all the pots and pans, serving pieces and cute glasses you will ever need! There are coolers, beach chairs and umbrellas too. The home is immaculate. We enjoyed the beaches, hiking, a full day sail on Cloud 9 and a day trip to Virgin Gorda. If you choose Waterlemon Villa you will not be disappointed! Hoping our Family can return soon!
We just returned from 10 days at watermelon villa. We had a great time in beautiful St. John! This was our 2nd time in St. John, but 1st time at wv. The villa had everything we needed, including ample space and privacy for our group. We had two couples and my mother in law traveling with us and everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked and we made breakfast their each morning before setting out to a different beautiful beach. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the huge screened in porch with amazing views when we weren't at the beach or touring the Island. The villa itself is well maintained. The place we stayed last year had ants on the counter everyday, but I only saw ants once at WV and that's because we left food out. After a wipe down with vinegar, we never saw another ant. It was great having Wi-Fi at the villa to keep in touch with family at home. You will need a car if you stay here and I recommend 4 wheel drive as the road and driveway are pretty steep, but you do get used to it.
I highly recommend wv!
This was our first trip to the Virgin Islands. We chose St. John and Waterlemon Villa! When we arrived at Waterlemon Villa, we were all blown away by the view; it was exactly what the pictures show. It didn't matter where you stood or where you sat, there was always a phenomenal view. The villa itself was beautiful! It had a very fresh and Caribbean feel to it - exactly what you would expect to find. The colors of blue that are used to accessorize the villa blend into the colors of the sky and the water. The kitchen was well furnished - we love to cook and were very pleased with all the cooking utensils and cookware. There was also a grill that we used - with a great view of course. The bedrooms were beautifully furnished, and bathrooms had hair dryers, plush towels, and the outdoor showers were amazing! The pool and pool area were also beautiful - again the view while in the pool was amazing! The drive up and down the mountain was always fun and somewhat of an adventure. The owner of the villa is a wonderful individual and great to work with as was the management company. If you are looking for a beautiful view and a beautiful house - this is the place for you! Oh, and the snorkeling.....FABULOUS!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! We had a fabulous trip!!!
Waterlemon Villa is absolutely lovely! The porches are wonderful, mornings and evenings: sunrise, sunset, Coral Bay! The beaches and water are spectacular! We loved the wildlife: donkeys, goats and sheep, mongoose, seaturtles, fish, stingrays. It was a week full of family time, relaxation, good food, good drinks, and lots of adventure. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We all agree that we hope we can visit again soon, perhaps as early as next year!
Coral Bay is a quaint, laid back village on the eastern end of St. John with easy access to the beautiful beaches of the North Shore as well as the more remote East End, Kiddle Bay & perfect Salt Pond Bay. You can hike various trails from Coral Bay or ride horses around the area. There are six delicious & varied restaurants, two small grocery stores, and several clothing and gift shops. Cruz Bay & the ferry dock are 20 min to the west where you will find lots of bars, restaurants & shopping. You can rent or charter boats or book excursions from either locale. People are welcoming & friendly everywhere on St. John so come & explore!
Golf: Although there are no golf courses on St. John, there are several on St. Thomas. Mahogany Run golf course is 15 minutes from the ferry dock in Red Hook, St. Thomas, which is a 15 minute boat ride from Cruz Bay.
