This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and spacious apartments in Paris, in a stately renovated Haussmannian building of the Napoleon III era (1850's to 1870's ), which is adjacent to the river Seine, just across the water from the Ile St Louis.
Enter from the street through heavy wrought iron and glass doors, and take the marble and carpeted stairway (or elevator) to the second floor, where huge carved wooden doors open into a spacious, elegantly panelled entry foyer, then into the first of two salons (living rooms), filled with warm antiques, art and oriental rugs. The second, larger salon has a marble mantel, comfortable sofas and chairs, numerous cozy places to settle in for reading or conversation and a huge flat screen TV.
And there's more - a comfortable, separate dining room decorated with a magnificent Louis XIII cabinet, a long corridor leading to two bedrooms, two baths, a large, renovated, eat-in kitchen, a water closet and laundry room.
And location? Couldn't be more perfect. Via subway (metro) - you can be in the Louvre in about 6 minutes, the Opera Garnier and Grands Magazins (department stores) in 10, or go by foot in about 30. And on Sundays, the highway along the Seine is closed to cars, and you can walk or bike along the river all the way from your apartment to the Alexander Bridge and Grand and Petit Palais, then on to the Eiffel Tower if your energy permits.
We offer full concierge services from a nearby hotel that handles your housekeeping, meet-and-greet service. The concierge is available 24/7 should you need anything, including translations, reservations, use of internet, etc. as if you were staying at the hotel. For an additional fee, they can also arrange for private chaffeur pick up at the airport as well as breakfast at the hotel.
This is truly a grand apartment, beautifully decorated and maintained, very large (about 150 square meters), and you will feel as if you are living among the Parisian aristocracy -because you are!
PS Please note, we have wonderful neighbors, and in a spirit of cooperation, they've asked if at all possible to reduce the amount of noise generated from this apartment. In an effort to work with them, we ask please:
1) no children under 18 years old,
2) no check-ins or check-outs prior to 9am,
3) please consider taking off high heel shoes , and
4) no parties after 9PM
We thank you in advance for your understanding.
This apartment is truly wonderful. We had 4 people, and it gave us plenty of space to relax after some long days in the city. It is beautifully furnished and comfortable, with all of the conveniences of home. We loved the quick access to the Metro stop, and the location on the river and near Jardin des Plantes and Jardin du Luxembourg was so nice for our morning runs. There are grocery stores, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, etc. within blocks. Mathias, the concierge, was extremely responsive and helped us arrange to store our luggage for a few days and have a driver meet us with the luggage at the train station on a tight schedule. The housekeeper was also delightful - with our limited French language skills, we communicated in Spanish and with charades! We could not have had a better place to stay while in Paris.
Thank you for a lovely holiday at the Proust Apartment. Our holday began with an introduction to the apartment by the concierge, who also set-up a beautiful welcome breakfast of fruit, cheese and croissants. The apartment is conveniently located and steps away from the Sully-Moreland Metro stop. The apartment was perfect as a home base for the week we vacationed in Paris.
The entire "Our Home in Paris" team did everyting they could to make our holiday a complete success. We look forward to staying in another "Our Home in Paris" property as travel plans will allow.
PERFECT! Location great, apartment very large and well equipped kitchen. First visit for my daughter-in-law and she loved it. Mark was great, and had all the answers to our questions. Would recommend. Have rented from Jim before and both apartments have been great.
Our short visit to Paris was made all the more enjoyable by the wonderful accommodations and concierge support provided before and during our stay.
The "Celestins" apartment was even better than the photographs implied with plenty of old world charm complemented by modern bathrooms (a walk-in shower!), good beds and a modern kitchen. The location is simply unbeatable with a view of the Seine, easy walking distance to Ile St. Louis and Ile de la Cite' and the metro outside the front door.
Concierge support was excellent and included help in planning the trip, arranging train station and airport transfers and support during our stay. We had high expectations for the eateries reccommended and were not disappointed.
What a wonderful apartment. We were there for 8 nights with another couple and we all agreed that we would rent it again in a heartbeat. Great location, beautiful art, furnishings and rugs. Overall an "old Paris" feel to the apartment that really enhanced our stay. Made a few dinners at the apartment. The kitchen had everything we needed, and eating in the dining room added a touch of elegance to the meal. The beds were very comfortable, which is important to me. Yes, you can hear street noise through the windows, and it is very loud if the windows are open. However the bedrooms were quiet, and we got used to the street noise after the first day. More important, it did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the space. The bathrooms could use better lighting, but again, it was just something we accepted. Our concierge Marc, and Mathias(who initially welcomed us to the apt) were extremely nice and helpful. Marc had good restaurant recommendations and was kind enough to make reservations for us. Everyone involved with the apartment, including Jim and Dottie, were professional, communicative and committed to making sure we enjoyed our Paris experience. Thanks and see you next year.
Our family of four enjoyed the apartment, location, and overall environment. With windows open at night, the street and nearby park could be noisy, so be prepared. The apartment itself is extraordinarily charming and elegant, with period furnishings and art, yet with modern conveniences throughout (updated baths, W/D, kitchen, etc). Location means everything in Paris, and we were able to walk to most attractions, shops, etc. Further, the nearest Metro station is directly in front of the building! Finally, our concierge, Marc, could not have been more helpful or responsive.
