This is a large, private property, located in the center of the small resort village of Cabo Pulmo, just steps away from the dive shop, the beach, and all the restaurants.
The nearest beach is a calm one, quite suitable for children and marvelous for a dip at the beginning or the end of the day. It is only a 2-minute walk from the house. There are numerous other beaches within a short drive north or south of Cabo Pulmo.
The house is surrounded by a half-acre garden that offers privacy, beautiful views and abundant birds and wildlife. A solid, 6 foot privacy fence encloses the house and garden.
There is internet at the house suitable for email and surfing the web, a great sound system, and a library of DVD's.
The best way to check availability is by dropping us an email. We'll reply as soon as possible! We're also available by phone. We'd love a chance to chat with you about the property, Cabo Pulmo, and Baja in general.
We welcome you to our one-of-a-kind gem, hidden away in a little corner of Mexico.

P.S. A hearty 'thank you' to Bruce Lyon, who visited with his family in 2013, for the beautiful bird photos he allowed us to use!

My husband and I both work in agriculture. He is involved with vegetable seed production and I with organic certification. We raised our family Monterey/Salinas area of California, and currently live and work in Chile.
Janning Kennedy purchased this house in 2006
You have to see it to believe how special this place is. It is the most appealing, most comfortable place we've ever been. There's world-class surfing for my husband and a huge, beautiful, native garden for me. It's everything we could want. The house is both artful and designed for comfort. It's like living outdoors, only with all the comforts of a modern home. It's simply perfect.
We both love Mexico, especially the Baja, for its wonderful people, warm oceans and beautiful landscapes. When we crest the hill overlooking Cabo Pulmo we are looking down on our dream home. As we enter the property, we let go of pressures and stress, take a deep breath, and just relax. It is the perfect home: beautiful but unpretentious, warm, unique, and inviting. We love sitting on the porch and identifying birds and wildlife in the garden, and going up to the roof to watch the brilliant stars at night. We think you'll find it one of your favorite places on earth, and want to return again and again, just like we do.
My husband and 8 year old son stayed at the villa for a week and cannot say enough good things about this stunning place. The entire experience from booking to checking out was excellent. The Jannings responded to our request immediately, and our communications with Karl, the caretaker were very helpful. Karl is a wonderful person and checked in on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. The home is really beautiful, a perfect place to take breaks from the beautiful beaches and snorkeling. Well furnished kitchen, comfortable beds, beautiful deck to lounge on. It has a beautiful and large garden that is full of local birds and creatures. The town of Pulmo is remote and is about 90 minutes from Los Cabos Airport, the last 30 minutes of which you are on potholed and dirt roads. The roads are totally manageable, you just need to take your time and just enjoy the ride. Totally worth the trek out there, though, and we're already planning our return trip for next year.
My wife and I recently had a 3 night stay in the villa and truly loved the experience. The owners were prompt with e-mail responces and even a phone call during the booking process. Booking was simple and clean and Jannings information package supplied with the contract was great. Directions were exact and very helpful. Quite the experience living for a few days of the grid but once we settled in it really was not an isssue. The villa was equipped with everything you need. We would highly recomend this villa for anyone who wants a unique experience in the Cabo Pulmo area
My husband and I stayed at the Jewel in early November. What a fantastic place! The pictures do not do it justice. The property is directly across from El Caballero with privacy assured through a tall concrete fence surrounding the property. The owners and property managers clearly meticulously care for the house with attention to every detail. It was immaculate when we arrived which can be tough in an open air location such as this. The beach is a 2-3 minute walk with everything in this small town accessible by foot. Better yet, after I left my snorkeling gear behind accidentally, Karl and Kimmie made sure it got back to us in CA which is no small feat from such a remote location. The rooftop deck is unbelievable for sunrises and sunsets. If you are looking for a romantic place to get away from it all, this is it! But you better hurry before real estate begins to develop here for real. I only hope the road is never paved so it will keep Cabo Pulmo as pristine and secluded as it remains today. We did not miss phone service or electricity other than solar one bit.
Thank you for letting us stay at the "Jewel". We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back. The House and the Casita are beautiful and well maintained.
My sister, niece (9 years old) friend, her two daughters (10 & 12) and I spent an amazing week at The Jewel of Cabo Pulmo in early June. Since our return, we have all commented how much we are dying to return - both to the Jewel and the Cabo Pulmo wonders. Where to start...?? Karl and Kimmie, the very kind and helpful hosts, went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The home and casita are, as many others have commented, far more beautiful than the photos can portray. The garden is so lovely. We saw at least 25 new species of birds while in the area, and about 20 of them were right in the yard! Waking up to to sounds of exotic birds was like being in another world.
We had amazing snorkeling experiences both from shore (Mermaid and Arbolitos beaches) and from the boats. We did boat tours with Cabo Pulmo Divers (Pepe) and Eco Tours (Juan, Javier & Daniel). Both tours were wonderful, as were all of the owners/employees involved in both companies. We snorkeled at an amazing reef - the best coral & fish I've ever seen. We also swam with sea lions! On both tours, all of the guests were longing to see whale sharks, and the captians did their best to find them (one had been seen a couple of days prior to our arrival). No luck for us this trip. But, hopefully next time!! We also swam with HUGE schools of BIG fish, and a big school of bat rays, as well. Just amazing. Both tours hit the same areas. Had we been SCUBA divers, we would have gone with Janning's suggestion and used Cabo Pulmo Dive Center. We also loved walking the short path to the close beach for swimming. One of the most special things about Cabo Pulmo is how tiny the town is and how friendly the locals are. We felt very much a part of the town quite quickly. You can definitely walk everywhere. We even got invited to play in a volleyball game - Local Gringas (+ toursist) vs. Local Mexican women. We lost terribly, but it was so much fun! Oh, and, yes, the waterfall near Santiago is very worth the drive. I agree with the other guests who commented about how safe they felt in Cabo Pulmo. What more can I say? It's pure paradise. We can't wait to return!
My wife and I, and our two young children, enjoyed a beautiful and tranquil week at this remarkable home in Cabo Pulmo. The photos don't do justice to the natural beauty and architectural charm of this home and surrounding gardens. The community is well off the beaten path, ideal for anyone wanting a quiet week, free of tourist influences. Facinating granite rock formations nearby beg to be climbed and the snorkeling near Los Frailes beach is amazing. My 7 year old enjoyed a swim with the sea lions there. We highly recommend that day trip to the beautiful waterfall in the foothills of the mountian range near Santiago. The terrain and botany of this part of Baja is very distinctive, adding to the allure of being far from home (especially when home is wet Seattle). Karl and Kimmie are your caretakers and you couldn't be in more capable hands. Immmagine quiet desert nights illuminated by the glow of many lanterns around the veranda, under a star-filled sky, dining on fish caught hours earlier. The week left an indelible memory of a desert paradise. We will certainly be back.
This beautiful, half-acre property boasts a delightful garden of native & tropical plants; bird-watching is superb right from the porch. Restaurants & activity centers are 1 to 2 minutes walking distance. World-class deep sea fishing available outside the Marine Reserve, just a short drive away.
The Cabo Pulmo Marine Sanctuary is a world-class preserve that has rebounded spectacularly in the past 10 years. Diving and snorkeling are excellent, as is surfing, beach combing and hiking in the surrounding hills.
Cabo Pulmo is known for it's quiet, laid-back, relaxing lifestyle.
