Local Color:
Caretaker Sands is a Staniel Cay native and will take care of any needs. He will pick up at the airstrip and help with golf cart rental, boat rental and secure any fishing or sightseeing guides required. Any problems or instructions will be taken care of by him. The cottage is a short cart ride from town and the renowned Staniel Cay Yacht Club. There is an excellent restaurant and bar there and an array of yachtsmen, private pilots and a friendly international crowd. The island is populated by a lovable group of 'characters' who love their island life. Club Thunderball (where the James Bond movie was filmed) Happy People Bar and bars and restaurants on close by islands provide local entertainment and great food. There's always a party, or you can hideaway in total privacy on your secluded ridge.
What to Do:
The island is only 1 1/2 miles long and 1/2 mile wide but it provides fabulous hikes and beach power walks. Fishing, snorkeling, diving and swimming are great right from the shore. Guides are available for fishing, off shore fishing and sightseeing. The Exumas are a chain of islands like stepping stones. Many are uninhabited and provide hours of entertainment shelling and observing the local fauna and flora. The iguanas, swimming pigs, curly tailed lizards, and variety of birds are delightful.
