Fairhaven-a place to reenergize! You've thought of everything to make this a wonderful cozy and beautiful place to be. We enjoyed adventure. We felt safe and at home.
We're definitely going back!! My husband and I went up to Blue Ridge last fall for a little getaway. We found this quaint little cabin and it was absolute heaven!! We hauled our motorcycle up on a trailer and had the most awesome time. Weather was wonderful. I will say there are some steep grades going up to the cabin which were a little tricky on the motorcycle but nothing an experienced biker couldn't handle even with a passenger. The cabin is beautiful with the most wonderful back porch with dragonfly lights - so peaceful! We've already booked our fall trip at this same cabin and can't wait to enjoy the mountain scenery again. Honestly Blue Ridge is a hidden gem! Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!
Last year two of us stayed here. Spent the night, went for a short hike, and finally started to relax. The phone rings and I get called home as my Mom had a stroke. This time we decided to finish our vacation and headed there again. This time three of us went. We stopped for groceries first at The Food Lion, and never left the cabin! We were wiped out from a crazy schedule and terrible construction delays on I-40. We enjoyed it again. I think we spent hours, just soaking in the peace of the place and rarely spoke. Mostly just sat on the porch soaking in the beauty and perfect weather this year. Last year was a sauna. We just de-stressed. Cooked on the grill, made smores in the outdoor fireplace. Watched a little television. Sat around the table during meals and had good conversations. But lots of comfortable silences too. Very peaceful. Very private as you can hear the neighbors as they drive by when on the porch, but you can't see them. Have a good system for the upstairs bathroom usage and you'll have a great time. Oh, and don't use the water when someone is in the shower. If you can, come East over the mountains from Gatlinburg, Tennessee and stop at Newfound Gap. Gorgeous views!
This was our fifth stay since last spring and we still love it! Even a monsoon didn't dampen our stay. The rain on the roof was soothing as we snuggled inside and read. It was nice to sit in the alcove and watch the rain through the octagonal window. And when the rain finally stopped, we had some great nearby hikes during the day, capped off in the evenings with a cozy fire in the outdoor fireplace. We really like Fairhaven and look forward to many future trips.
The cabin was really nice and very clean. We had a great experience there. It was a nice quiet get away with no hassles. There are plenty of things to go see nearby, and it is also a great place to just hang out and relax at the cabin.
Ok, yes it's cute. BUT....it needs some updating and a new cleaning company. The spa was filthy. We had to clean it, add chemicals and water. House had a bunch of dog hair all over. Towels are all old and miss matched. Pots and pans were not clean. Bedding was old and worn out. We also got bites all over us in bed. When I kindly told the owner she said it wasn't from the bed because she has a exterminator company that comes every month and sprays the house and The BED! The mattress was very old (gross). If you don't want to sleep on an old chemical soaked mattress then pass on this place. I felt the owner was not into hearing my complaint.
We stayed at this cabin a few months ago, and has taken quite a long time to review our stay. To start off, when we arrived at the property, it took us 30 minutes to change all the light bulbs just to be able to see in the dark to safety bring in our bags. The owner stated that there was wood provided, when we arrive there was zero wood available. I had 3 cords of free wood sitting in my home, instead ended up paying 75.00 in blue ridge for 2 nights worth of wood. Last issue, which was the largest for us. It has one central heat source, and it puts out a lot of heat... when you can get the pilot light to stay lit through the night. *I had to relight 2-3 times per night for us to stay warm. It was in the 30's during our stay.
Other issues: One of the two motors on the hot tub didn't work, Gas grill is a piece of junk and at one point caught on fire, no real siting around outside fireplace, "lighting bug's" light over once of the porches did not work. ETC.
Worst of all, I gave the owners PLETLY of opportunity to correct and/or explain the issues i was experiencing.. They went radio silence. VRBO could offer zero help as well. The owner(s) made a already bad experience much worse with how they decided to deal with this situation.
All in all, cabin is in a decent location, and we enjoyed our trip outside of all the issues. We have not, and will not return to this cabin.
