Secluded Keystone Sand Spit Beach House:
This smoke-free home is centrally located in the middle of Whidbey Island in Coupeville on the Keystone Sand Spit, very close to the Keystone Ferry Terminal. This home is a great choice for a family group that wishes to be close to services yet feel away from it all and maintain their privacy. The home is bounded by Ebeys Landing National Reserve Park to the east, Puget Sound to the south, Lake Crockett bird sanctuary to the north and several other private property owners to the west. Our home is surrounded on three sides by public lands allowing you a lot of privacy.
Whidbey Island is the home of Naval Air Station Oak Harbor. The aircraft, ships, subs, and parachutists can appear at anytime. The aircraft and parachutists have been seen flying in most areas, including overhead. Outdoor activities abound here, with fantastic salmon fishing and crabbing, wonderful kayaking or world class diving from your backyard. The public boat launch is less than one minute (1/4 mile) by car.
Getting Here & Ice Cream at the Keystone Cafe:
This home is 90 minutes from Seattle (including Ferry) and 75 minutes from Bellingham by car. The local airport is 15 minutes away and air taxi can be arranged with Kenmore Air. The 25 minute air taxi trip from Seattle is scheduled 4 times a week.
All Island County Community transit rides are free throughout the Island and we are 1/4 mile away from the Keystone Ferry Terminal which is a big transit connector.
The Keystone Cafe recently reopened across from the Washington State Ferry terminal and offers a variety of soups, sandwiches, drinks and excellent Cascase Ice Cream in waffle cones. A nice walk to get an ice cream cone (before an 8pm closing time) is a great way to end a wonderful day on vacation.
The Beach House is equipped for 8 persons and one baby (bed ) and is kid friendly. It can easily accommodate an additional 4 persons upon request. There is one additional semi private sleeping area with a king size Murphy bed not including the great room.
Connecting to outside world when necessary:
The home has high speed satellite Internet and a wireless router (802.11 A, B & G) for easy use by guests. DirecTV is available on 3 tv's and it has some 255 channels including all premium channels and XM satellite radio.
The upper floor living area also includes a flat panel desktop computer connected to the network. Since it is in the open living room, it allows for control of content if the kids try to use it.
Each of the bedrooms have multiple Cat 5 Ethernet jacks for you to plug in to the internet and home network. Wireless access is also available if you wish to check your email or surf out on one of the recliners on the deck. We also provide an HP Laserjet multi function printer, fax and scanner for when you absolutely need it. I know you should be out having some fun with your family and friends, right, but just in case you need to take care of something back in the real world...
