Just what the doctor ordered, this serene mountain cabin was made just for you.
Watch the sun go down between the mountains from the swing or rockers on the front porch. Wonderful views and a gentle running creek on the property with it's own creek-side picnic area, swing, bridge and campfire-ring. This custom cedar cabin is located on 1 1/2 acres of gentle rolling hills, surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Lots of wood inside and out. The cabin is tastefully decorated in a country-mountain theme. The perfect get-a-way for a couple or the whole family.
The cabin will easily accomodate 6 persons. Located just 13 miles north of Helen, Georgia. Helen is a quaint re-make of a Bavarian town complete with cobblestone alleys, horse-drawn carriages, specialty shops, and restaurants. Hiawassee houses the enormous Lake Chatuge, a tranquil 13-mile lake wrapped up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is perfect for the amateur or professional picture taker, not to mention, the adventurous water sportsman.
It is our little piece of heaven in Hiawassee, and we would love to share it with you.
MY HUSBAND AND I LIVE HERE IN THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF HIAWASSEE, GA. I STILL WORK AND MY HUSBAND IS RETIRED. HE IS THE FULL TIME CARETAKER OF THE PROPERTY. AFTER BEING RAISED IN A LARGE METROPOLITAN AREA OF FL. I CAN'T SAY I MISS THE CITY TRAFFIC AND EVERYDAY KAOS. I THANK GOD EVERYDAY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE IN SUCH A TRANQUIL AND BEAUTIFUL AREA.
Linda Rohland purchased this cabin in 2002
BEAUTIFUL AREA COMBINATION OF MOUNTAINS AND LAKE THAT ARE HARD TO BEAT
WE HAD OUR OWN VACATION GET-A-WAY WHEN WE NEEDED ONE AND IT FELT LIKE HOME. NOW WE LIVE FULL TIME NEXT DOOR TO THE CABIN, WE MANAGE THE CABIN NOW FOR ANOTHER COUPLE WHO WANTED TO BUY IT.
We stayed a full week in the cabin, which is actually a full sized house. It was fantastic. We took 4 of our children. Ages 9, 11, 14, & 15. All had the greatest time. There was plenty of room, the beds were very comfortable, the cabin was immaculate. The view was spectacular, there is a creek that the kids had a blast walking across the rocks on, a great fire pit for family bonfires, and marshmallow roasting. I highly recommend this to any family wanting a very special time away together.
My wife, daughter and I stayed here for 5 nights and did not want to leave. The cabin is amazing. Clean and well maintained, the cabin had all the comforts of home. The decor of the cabin is beautiful with lots of nice details. The setting and view from the porch was both peaceful and mesmerizing. We enjoyed rocking in the chairs with the sun setting with a beautiful variety of trees all around and fireflies flickering as darkness set in. We saw plenty of wildlife and the hummingbirds were very entertaining. The stream is a very short walk down the hill and is the clear mountain stream you dream about. Sitting on the rocks with our feet in the water was heavenly.
The cabin is very conveniently located between Helen and Hiawassee and there is plenty to see and do in the area. The owners were very easy to work with and we highly recommend this cabin. We would definitely stay here again.
We spent the week at this beautiful mountain get-away, and are already contemplating a return trip with the grandkids. The pictures don't do it justice - it is beautiful and well maintained. Linda was very helpful, and was most accommodating when the extraordinary snowfalls caused us to have to postpone our originally scheduled trip.
The fireplace was cozy on the cool nights, and we enjoyed watching the bunnies play in the year in the mornings and evening. We were close enough to the towns of Helen and Hiawassee to enjoy them, and far enough away to have a truly time away from the busyness of our everyday schedules.
We highly recommend this cabin for those wishing to get away in a beautiful, quiet setting.
My wife and i have stayed at several cabins in North Georgia. This one we loved for a number of reasons. First of all, it's the perfect size for 5 or 6 people - we had 5, two couples, and a 18 year old boy. He had the loft bedroom with his own full bath. We had the main floor bedroom, with full bath, and the other couple had the lower floor bedroom and bath, with it's own private entrance. The cabin was by far the cleanest cabin I've stayed at. Hummingbirds were there ( feeders hang out on the deck). One morning we saw probably 15-20 deer playing in the field by the creek. The other mornings it was a bit cloudy, and so it would have been harder to see, if they were there. The location is ideal, and it was very quiet. Hardly any traffic on the main road Owl Creek. Lots of pans and dishes to use. Water was delicious. The managers are friendly and helpful. They live next door.
We will be back. Get groceries at Betty's in Helen, or Ingles in Hiawassee. Enjoy your stay!
We've rented a cabin for our vacation in Hiawassee every year for the past 8 or 9 years. By far, this was our favorite. My wife and I, and our 3 children all liked this cabin better than any of the others we've rented. Here are a few of the features we really liked compared to other cabins we've rented:
- VERY VERY CLEAN
- Best equiped kitchen of any cabin we've stayed in (spices, sugar, pots, cookie sheet, baking dishes)
- Non-stick cookware that was really non-stick and not flaking
- Ample parking (Truck, boat, mini-van and jet ski were no problem)
- Plenty of hangers in closets
- Land line phone with unlimited long distance (cell phone service is bad)
- 3 full baths (3 showers)
- Plenty of towels
- No burnt out light bulbs
- Smoke detectors didn't start chirping in the middle of the night because of nearly dead batteries
- Very nice propane grill on deck right near kitchen
- Property managers. They are very friendly and take very good care of this property. They live right next door in the event you have any questions or issues, yet we never felt like we were being watched.
I would definitely recommend this cabin to family and friends and unless additional people travel with us next year will most likely stay there again next year.
A few things to be aware of:
- Each bedroom is on a separate floor (small children might not be OK with this)
- One bedroom is a loft (limited privacy)
As for nearby activities, attractions and restaurants, I don't even know were to begin. I will say this. My father-in-law grew up in Hiawassee and moved to Ohio when he was young. When I first met my wife, and she told me she went there every year to visit her family for their vacation, I thought to myself, that sounds like a pretty boring vacation. I've never come close to being bored in Hiawassee. There are national forests, mountains and rivers all around for hunting, hiking and trout fishing. Lake Chatuge is in the middle of town. There are several very nice golf courses nearby. Some of our favorite restaurants:
- Amigo's grill
- Monte Alban
- Daniel's Steakhouse
- Starbuck's (inside Ingle's grocery store)
In nearby Blairsville, GA:
- Mike's Seafood Market & Grill
In nearby Hayesville, NC:
- Mika's pizza
- Rib country
We have been going to Georgia for Thanksgiving since I was a kid (20+ years) at first we would stay with family who live in the area but as our family grew we needed to find a larger place to accommodate us all.
My husband, son and I rented this cabin this year for the three of us and my mom ended up staying a couple nights with us to. The place was perfect. The downstairs/basement area was like a separate living space and was just right for my husband and I while my mom stayed on the first floor and my son in the loft area. The cabin is close to the family we visit and the road to and from it was not bad at all. Loved it and have already booked it for next November. This place was hands down the best place we have stayed yet..
