Capri Apartment Rental Photos and Description
This ample flat with large private terrace is the perfect holiday destination
Situated in a luxurious period villa in a marvellous location with wide views of the old town and the sea, this spacious house with large private balcony is the perfect destination for a romantic holiday or a great family experience.
This magnificent three-bedroom home is located on the piano nobile of the historical Villa Mezzomonte in Capri, mentioned in several publications about the island's stately homes. It is within ten minutes reach from the world-famous Piazzetta and sports a more-than-180-degree view of the sea and of the old town from the al-fresco dining terrace.
The villa and the property are bursting with period features, including the majestic double marble staircase leading up to the first floor, the giant star chandeliers hanging from the 6-meter-high vaulted ceilings, and the iconic stained-glass arch window, which casts an ethereal emerald hue into the immense entrance hall.
From the bustle of the cafes in the Piazzetta, through the busy artisan workshops and little archways of Via Le Botteghe (so narrow that you will brush shoulders with the people coming from the opposite direction), you make your way up an oleander-shaded path to La Croce (The Crossroads), once the main node of the old mule tracks of upper side of the Capri, and an obligatory walk-through for the archaeological site of Emperor Tiberius's Villa Jovis and for the Arco Naturale (Natural Arch).
Right beyond the stone wall with overhanging lemon branches to your left, you can see a towering yellow villa framed by white eaves. You'll probably spot some tourists taking pictures through the ornate wrought iron gate. Reach the building glass front door across the citrus and cactus garden, and step into the cool entrance hall, with original ceramic tiles, period wrought-iron chandeliers and a gigantic marble staircase which takes you up to the first floor.
Step through the hallway into the spacious 33sqm (360 sqft) reception, with hand-painted ceramic-tiled floors throughout, a gigantic nautical star-shaped glass-and-iron chandelier hanging from the six-meter-high cross-vaulted ceiling, and an impressive wrought-iron-balustrade staircase leading up to the secluded mezzanine floor. A collection of original furniture from the time the house was converted in the early 70s is complemented by a selection of newer pieces and refined decorations, including ornamental maiolica masks from the artisan town of Vietri Sul Mare and designer pieces such as the Arco Lamp by Achille Castiglioni. The reception is the perfect place to relax during the hottest hours of the day and to enjoy a perfectly-cooked meal of one of the many delicacies of the island. It also has access to the private terrace though the tall French doors.
The terrace is the true jewel of the home: spacious enough for a large party to comfortably dine al fresco in the gentle breeze that favours this spot, this area features extensive views of the sea, of the old town, of the Monte Solaro and the Monte di Tuoro. With the wrought-iron balustrades and period globe-shaped lamps, it is perfect to lie in the sun on a reclinable chair or to enjoy a chilled local white wine before dinner while peeking at the multimillion-dollar yachts and twinkling cruise-liners which regularly parade off the coast of Marina Piccola. The terrace also overlooks the villa's citrus garden and picnic area.
From the reception's polished-stone staircase you can access the master bedroom, which is separated from the reception below by the means of sliding glass doors and curtains. This bedroom features a king-size bed, an original hand-made five-door built-in wardrobe with lots of storage, comfortable bedside tables, a small couch and a large mirror. It also leads to the en-suite full bathroom with vanity mirror, glass cabinets, shower-over-bath, sink with mixer tap, bidet and toilet. The window overlooks the pretty XI century S.Michele Church, the garden of which is carefully manicured by the local community and is definitely worth a short visit. If you'd like to attend, they also hold singing Sunday services.
The master bedroom also gives access to a small utility room which hosts some more storage space and a new washing machine.
The south-facing bedroom on the main floor has also access to the terrace, and features two twin beds, bedside tables, a double built-in wardrobe, a large wooden chest of drawers, a full-sized mirror, high vaulted ceilings and a smaller version of the star-shaped chandelier that adorns the reception room.
The adjacent east-facing bedroom also has two twin beds, which can be joined to form an additional double bed. It also features high ceilings with a maiolica chandelier, a large hand-made wooden wardrobe, bedside tables, a wide window sill, and additional shelving. The large window also looks over the gardens of the S.Michele Church.
Between the two twin bedrooms is the family bathroom, which is fully tiled and equipped with sink with mixer tap, shower-over-bath, vanity mirror with cabinet, toilet, bidet, and extractor fan.
The kitchen comes with large fridge, gas cooker, electric oven and dishwasher. The furniture is original from the 70s conversion and is in perfect conditions. You will find a wide range of cookware and tableware at your disposal.
You will have exclusive use of the property, although some space might be reserved for our personal effects. You will also have access to the villa's communal citrus garden and picnic area.
From mid April till mid October, we offer our guests the chance to gain access to the exclusive panoramic swimming pool of a nearby hotel for an additional fee.
