Overview

Kihei Townhome Rental Photos and Description

Townhome - 3 Bedrooms - 2 Baths - (Sleeps 7)

Aloha. Please go to our photos and scroll to the right of the last picture to view our video to help in your decision. You will be working with us as owners and not a rental agent. This is our home and you can expect just that on your island visit. Our calendar is up to date each morning. We take this serious since it is part of our retirement.

The KOA Resort is a beautiful 54 unit low rise community. This resort is unique in having 5.7 acres of lush tropical landscaping. Units are full time home owners, residents of the island of Maui and some vacation rentals. We are located across the street from over 6 miles of the most beautiful beaches in the world! Being on the leeward (drier side) side of the island provides warm dry days, cool evenings with intoxicating trade winds from the Northeast.

Our townhouse is over 1200 square feet with a 300 square foot lanai (patio). We are very proud of our clean, comfortable home which we love. Three complete bedrooms, two baths, a large living and dining area including a washer & dryer will allow six guests to be very comfortable. We have the largest pool and heated on the leeward side of the island. Hot tub spa, 2 tennis courts, cabana, gas grills, and more at our KOA Resort. This is a child friendly community great for families and guests. Our location is perfect for Maui.

Clean and Comfortable; sleeps seven. There are ceiling fans in all rooms as well as air conditioning in the living dining area and the master bedroom. Most units on the island do not have air conditioning due to the trade winds and wonderful weather. Our unit is situated to take full advantage of the trade winds. Bring a sweater for the winter evenings. For those of you that have to work, we have high speed Internet. Just bring your laptop. Our outside cabana has wireless Internet. No password is needed; just look for Cabana as the user and log on. Our home also has secure wireless Internet.

We have a high chair, pack-n-play with linens, and a new queen hide-a-sofa for that extra guest. Our cabana and property area have free Internet access. Gas grills are at the cabana. Grills on lanais are against the fire code in Maui.

The KOA Resort has the largest heated pool on the south side of the island, a very nice hot tub spa right by the pool, and an outside shower. Two tennis courts, a large spacious cabana, gas grills, putting greens, and shuffle board are all within steps of your front door. Shopping, dining, Safeway, Starbucks, Hilo Hattie’s, Stella Blues, Kihei Cafe and more are less than a mile to the east down Kihei Rd. This is a non-smoking property.

Our town home is very close to the best things to do in Maui. The Maui Ocean Center and Ma’alaea Harbor are a few miles to the west to include Humpback Whale watching with the Pacific Whale Foundation, snorkel trips or deep sea fishing excursions. Whale season is mid December through mid April. The beach is right across the street. Two blocks to the west is the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary. You can watch the sunset or whales from their deck, visit their education center, explore the ancient Hawaiian fishpond, or walk six uninterrupted miles on the white sand beach to Ma’alaea Harbor. The Kihei Canoe Club is one mile down Kihei Road right on the beach and welcomes guest paddlers on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Snorkel, swim, wind surf, paddle, or just sit on the beach.

Lanai’s are made for sipping Mai Tai’s and you can definitely try that activity as well. For your Holiday on Maui our location, cleanness and comfort should be your expectation in choosing the right lodging. We have a none smoking home and property.

Mahalo for considering our home.

About Andrew Anderson & Phyllis Johnson

Aloha. I am a retired Colorado firefighter and my wife is a retired Colorado teacher. We travel to the mainland often to spend time with our grand children. We are owners so you work with us and not a leasing agent. Our calendar is up to date each morning. You can expect a nice home for your stay because that is exactly what it is; not a rental.

Andrew Anderson & Phyllis Johnson purchased this townhome in 2005

Why Andrew Anderson & Phyllis Johnson chose Kihei

This property is in a residential neighborhood. It is very close to everything you might need but you are not in the tourist froth.

Our property is low density; 6 acres with the largest swimming pool (heated) on the leeward side of the island.

This property has shuffle board, table tennis, tennis courts, hot tub spa by the pool, and two blocks to a state beach park and Marine Sanctuary headquarters. Parking is not an issue on our property. We have a very nice cabana with gas grills, restrooms, and picnic tables and ceiling fans with wireless high speed Internet.

What makes this townhome unique

Three bedrooms with a great location. Largest pool on the leeward side of the island. Heated; most pools are not heated. Grounds are very nice. Hawaiian Fishpond two blocks to the West. Next to the Fishpond is the Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary. This facility has a wonderful visitor center with a deck for watching whales and sunsets. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. is a free whale lecture for families year round.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We are now back home and back to reality. We had a very nice time in your Condo. The grand children loved the pool and of course the beaches in Maui are the best. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Thanks again.

I'd like to thank Andrew and Phyllis for making this wonderful home available for travellers. The condo is perfectly clean and has everything that is needed. The grounds are green, clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub are a great place to spend water time away from the ocean. Maui is a wonderful place to vacation and explore. Every day brought a new adventure. I would love to come back to this condo and certainly recommend it.

Best Kept Secret in Maui!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I were lucky enough to stay at this oasis for a month this summer. This peaceful and lovely KOA property became our home away from home. It was the nicest VRBO property we have ever encountered--clean, comfortable, well-stocked, and so peaceful. The grounds are exceptionally beautiful and spacious--a nice change from many of the cramped highrises on the island. The pool was THE BEST! We had a hard time getting our kids out of it long enough to see the island! It is immaculate and large, with a hot tub and shuffleboard. Andrew and Phyllis (owners) went above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable and comfortable trip. The beds were more comfortable than ours at home, and there were plenty of bedrooms for everyone. The lanai (balcony) was lovely--perfect for a morning cup of coffee with the scent of plumeria in the morning and the cooling breezes in the afternoon.

We loved the location in Kihei. We could walk one block to the beach and the Whale Sanctuary. We could drive to the grocery store, coffee shops, and stores in less than one minute. We found Kihei to be a wonderful central location for the island. It is easy to get anywhere on the island from Kihei, but it is not a place overwhelmed by tourists, which is what we were looking for.

I highly recommend this property, and we hope to return ourselves in the future. Mahalo for the wonderful stay!

Andrew and Phyllis had great suggestions for us--from the Lavender Farm upcountry to Haleakala to the best beaches to the Tropical Plantation. It made all the difference to us that we had such personalized

An absolutely lovely home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This year I turned 60 & wanted to find a great way to celebrate. We decided to search for a vacation spot we could afford for 5 weeks,a real extended vacation.I began a dialogue with Andrew after seeing his property on VRBO.He was simply awesome. From the get-go he was a pleasure to work with & we booked our 5 weeks. We were so excited. There would be 2-7 of us at different times in our stay,1 guest is an amputee, and we had 2 babies, all considerations to plan for.

When we 1st arrived I had a pang of disappointment because at first glance the kitchen looked a little dated.(I have since learned from Andrew that it is being fitted this summer with new cabinets and granite, perfect. Without that knowledge I would have had to rate the unit a 4 star,so I am thrilled about that development). But it was clean and quiet so we decided to reserve judgment for a few days and see how it worked for us.

Well...it was simply perfect! The property met the needs of 3 generations in every way with 3 roomy bedrooms/lots of storage & 2 bathrooms that worked really well for our family. The kitchen appliances are updated & were in great working order. The lanai was roomy & private and we had many a happy-hour out there. The in-suite washer/dryer was a godsend & there were plenty of beach towels & toys for the pool/beach.

The pool is simply amazing.A large 2ft deep section so toddlers can enjoy, all the way to 9 ft at the other end for adults who may want a kid-free zone. The grounds - astoundingly beautiful & groomed every week.

The location is perfect. Central to shops, gorgeous beaches,(Keawakapa was our favourite by far), hwys for sightseeing trips local coffee shops and boutiques. It is residential,so the feeling of family and belonging is everywhere. We certainly felt safe there. For us it was everything the Hilton is not.We never felt like just a number. It actually felt like OUR home for 5 weeks. We just loved it.All of it.In every way.I SO didn't want to come home.I could easily have stayed another 5 weeks.

This experience could have gone so wrong. But from the initial contact with Andrew, who is a veritable wealth of information, this process was simple, straightforward and extremely gratifying. He was available at all times via email during our stay, and any concerns were dealt with promptly and to our satisfaction.

We will NEVER stay in a hotel again!

To Andrew and Phyllis:Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We look forward to revisiting in the future.Aloha!!!

Amazing adventure in paradise

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed at this wonderful paradise for a week to celebrate her graduation from college. We could not have picked a better place. The townhouse itself is spacious and inviting with comfortable beds and living area, as well as a nice kitchen with well stocked cooking utensils and bathrooms with plenty of towels. Our favorite place to hang out was the patio (lanai, I think they call it) with all of the beauty and smells of the blooming tropical plants surrounding it.

Location, location, location is everything. This unit's property is right across the street from the beach, where we saw the sunset many times while there - very easy access. We also went star gazing there, where we saw the stars from hemisphere to hemisphere. Awesome. It is also very convenient to restaurants, grocery stores and other beaches and parks - without being in the middle of the hustle bustle of all the tourists.

The owners, Andrew and Phyllis, are extremely easy to work, gave very detailed instructions and directions, and were very responsive with any questions. They also provided suggestions for entertainment and eating. We did almost everything they suggested - couldn't do it all in one week - but we had one of the most memorable weeks of our lives.

I would highly recommend this townhouse for anyone wanting to experience paradise in a comfortable and convenient location. We are already making plans to return with other family members.

At peace in Kihei

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed at this peaceful Koa Resort property for 6 wonderful days in April. The bed was quite comfortable and the ceiling fans very effective in keeping the tropical air moving gently through the condo. There was an A/C which we never needed. Everything we needed for cooking was available in the kitchen and having the washer and dryer right in the unit was extremely convenient. The entire unit was very clean and nicely decorated with Maui themed wall hangings. There was an ample supply of bath towels and beach towels as well as beach toys available for play. We greatly enjoyed the lanai surrounded by lush tropical plants. There we ate our breakfasts, had drinks and snacks, and a few suppers. A very peaceful place that we always took refuge in after a full day of activities. Road noise was minimal as the condo was set well back from the main road with a buffer of pine trees between. The pool was a godsend the day after our arrival from a very long flight. Very clean, surrounded by flowering plants with the water temperature just cool enough. The condo's location in North Kihei is perfect for exploring the whole island with West Maui, the Road to Hana, Haleakala and the beaches of South Maui all within easy reach as well as numerous restaurants and the airport. The owner's recommendations for dining and activities were terrific and greatly appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to a group of friends. There is plenty of comfortable space for three couples in the living room, the dining area and on the lanai.

Marvelous Maui Lodging

  • 5 of 5

Our three generation family of seven were very comfortable in this well furnished condo. The kitchen and linen closet had everything one could imagine. A highchair was available as were numerous beach toys for the children. We had beach chairs for our elders and an umbrella to shade the sun once it got hot. The location was just perfect to the beach, sites, restaurants and airport. We also took advantage of the pingpong table, tennis courts (rackets provided), pool and hot tub daily, it was wonderful! Working with the owner prior to arrival was easy and all questions were answered promptly. Indeed I highly recommend this lovely two level condo!
