My business partner and I rented this house to operate out of for a few weeks and it was nothing short of exceptional. Our discerning clientele was very pleased with the beautiful scenery and accomodations. As a result business was outstanding and we will be sure to use it again.

The title was perfect!

  • 5 of 5
We had planned a retirement party for my husband and had a lot of family coming in from out-of-state for the week-end. Rather than have them all in different rooms in a motel, we wanted them to be able to be together in one place. (We already had a house full at our house).
This house was perfect!!! Everyone marveled at the beautiful, peaceful, atmosphere that allowed everyone to be together, but not crowded. Many of us gathered for dinner on Sunday with 22 at the table! Our family is already trying to come up with dates that we could use it again.

Day Conference

  • 5 of 5
This was a wonderful place to hold our day conference! It worked out perfect! Even though we had more people than anticipated (22), the expansive home made it easy to accommodate them.

It worked out well that we were able to come the day before, prepare, and be ready for the guests as they arrived in the morning. This removed any stress of having to rush around right before the guests arrive.

The spacious kitchen had plenty of room for everyone to sit, mingle, and enjoy good food and fellowship. It was well stocked and even had a few items in the cupboard that we had overlooked. The owners also went out of their way to ensure that the BBQ was ready for our use!

With a little arranging, the living room area gave us plenty of space to sit everyone comfortably. And the beautiful view of the river through the large front windows was enjoyed by all!

Afterward, some of us stayed overnight and enjoyed resting in the peaceful environment. We were pleasantly surprised at all of the sleeping arrangement options available.

Overall we had a great experience and are looking forward to when we can return! Hopefully for a longer stay! The owners were wonderful to work with, very accommodating, and helpful! Thank You again!

Not as nice as last year

  • 3 of 5
We stayed here last year and I gave it 5 stars after our stay. This time however, the house was not quite what we expected. Here are the reasons I'm only giving it a 3 star rating this time:
We had issues with the stovetop (it's extremely finicky about the type of pan or pot is used and if it's not exactly flat bottomed and the right size/weight, the surface won't get hot.) We were cooking for 16 people and could only seem to get 1-2 burners to work at any given time.
The rugs in the bathrooms were dirty and obviously had not been changed since the last tenant. The only sponge in the kitchen had been used to clean and it smelled horrible. There were no washcloths in the main floor bathroom (not sure about the other bathrooms.) Dirty mop water/bucket was left full. The main level shower is ridiculously complicated and was difficult to get a basic stream of warm water out of it. Ahead of our arrival, the owner let me know there was a leak somewhere and that the downstairs bedroom carpet was wet - and it was.
It was obvious the house needs some repairs and maintenance and perhaps a better cleaning service.
Overall, we still had a great time with these inconveniences. The location is lovely and we had fun exploring the hiking trails nearby.

Owner's Response: We apologize for the less- than-stellar condition. We want the house to be perfect for our guests. It was one of those crazy weeks with back-to-back-to-back groups leaving at 11 AM, with another group coming in at 4 PM, three groups in a row. Kelly's group was the third group to arrive. It's a BIG house, which means a BIG cleaning job. Sometimes, in the frantic attempt to cover all of the bases before guest arrive, an item or two can get overlooked. In addition, it was one of those weeks when one thing after another was going wrong, with no time between guests to deal with them. As the saying goes, sometimes "stuff" happens. We are aware of the stove issue, and we are looking into getting a new one. Meanwhile, we provide the proper cookware to use on the stove. It is a "fancy" inductive-heat stove that requires heavy-gauge steel pots to connect to the magnetic heating elements. The idea is that when the pot is not on the stove, the element does not stay hot, which is a safety feature. Most people prefer an "un-fancy" stove that works easily, and I agree. When guests bring in their own light-weight pots and pans, they have issues. I was not able to get up to the house the day Kelly arrived to check for and take care of last-minute details, so that is why there were a few things out of order. I take Kelly's comments seriously and I will continue to make every effort to check the house before guests arrive. Please read the other reviews, and don't let this one review keep you from enjoying this amazing River Retreat.
Best Wishes,
Joanne

Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5
Our recent stay at this property was great! We had a family celebration to attend in Roseburg and instead of everyone getting separate motel rooms we gathered at this property. It was clean, peaceful, well equipped, comfortable for the great grand parents, nice large dinning table to gather for meals and share stories. The weather turned a bit wet on us, but nobody seemed to mind! We watched the river rise, played games and chatted...mornings at the coffee pot we watched the deer and birds through the large kitchen windows that looked out onto the river. We all hope to return soon!

Spacious and relaxing

  • 4 of 5
Seven women enjoyed this beautiful house and setting for a get-away and reconnection time. We enjoyed the river views, watching wild life along the river and the lower deck close to the river. The kitchen was well stocked and we loved the comfy chairs around the long dining table, easily accommodating our group. Lots of room to eithter find a spot to sit and visit, dance around, and sleep comfortably. I recommend this house to anyone who needs a spacious, peaceful setting to unwind and relax. We drove a short distance to Whistler's Bend park, across the river, to check out more swimming possibilities. Thank you for sharing your house!
Thank you for being so accommodating to our needs, too.
