Located in colorfully stunning southern Utah within a hour and a half drive to several National and State Parks including Grand Canyon, Zion Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Grand-Staircase Escalante and many more. Also close by is Lake Powell and Dixie National Forest, Cedar Mountain with its clear streams and lakes for fishing and hiking. Hundreds of western movies were made in this area and the sets still exist for many of them. There are scenic hiking and ATV trails with acres of country to explore. Located nearby are Indian ruins. Also located near downtown where you'll find quaint shops, museums and restaurants. Don't miss the yearly Western Legends Roundup where Kanab celebrates it's rich Western movie making history. And, just an hour's drive away is either Cedar City's Shakespeare Festival or St. George's Tuachan outdoor amphitheater with it's Broadway productions. Make Kanab your home base. Additional information about rental rates

  • $200 refundable security deposit required when booking. Must be 25 yrs. or older to book a rental.
  • $10 per night extra charged for each guest over 5 persons. $10 per night will be added for pets. Advance payment of 50% of total rent due 60 days prior to arrival with the balance due 15 days prior to arrival. Until confirmed, rates subject to change without notice.
  • Cancellations made more than 60 days prior to arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advance payment and securtiy deposit. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit.

  • Shower is very large and is a step-in. Although the bathroom is small, it is very tastefully decorated with a pedestal sink and shelves for your convenience. Plush towels are provided for your comfort.

  • There are four 5' thick floor mats for sleeping on the floor. Decorated in pioneer period, you will find an upholstered chair, a desk and/or a chest of drawers in each room. Bedroom 1 had an antique armoire and a gas fireplace. Hardwood floors are restored original and there are area rugs for comfort. Beautifully decorated in moss green and rustic reds and creams, all linens, blankets, and comforters are provided.

A little history....: This home was built in 1910 by George A. Swapp and owned and occupied by the Swapp family up until July of 2006. Since purchasing the home in July, we have completely gutted and remodeled the entire home, putting in new electrical and plumbing, restoring the original wood floors, building a balcony over the front door, and bringing it back to it's original charm and beauty with modern conveniences and safety. Located on 1/3 acre on the main highway through Kanab, it has been lovingly and beautifully decorated with luxurious comfort in mind. Photos of the original home and family adorn the walls. Take a step back in time....

We very much enjoyed the home. The location on Rt 89 was perfect and it was central to the national parks. The accomodations were very nice. The house was clean and there were many extra touches such as movies to watch, games to play and the kitchen was well furnished for our cooking needs. We recommend this property for you to rent!

Girls Getaway!!

Thank you Patty and Dan for having such a lovely home we loved coming home after exploring at Best Friends, Zion and Bryce National Parks. The kitchen I felt was the one of the best parts of the home, we had wonderful dinners and even better conversations around that table we can not wait to go back next year!! If you are traveling with and older parent, they will love this house. There are two very nice size bedrooms and a full bathroom downstairs. Only 3 or 4 small steps up into the home. Enjoy, we know you will we did.

Perfect spot

We stayed here as an extended familiy - three generations - in June, and it fit our needs perfectly. It was clean and welcoming, with lots of little extras, including great resources on the area and the nearby parks. I highly recommend it.

Truly a Home Away From Home!

Our family stayed here in June, 2009. We hadn't rented a home before but have rented timeshares so we were not sure what we were in for....but to our surprise, this place was excellent! We felt like it was our home away from home while our family of four was on vacation. The house and everything in it were perfect and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. This was also a perfect location for us as we used it as a base camp for visting Zion one day, Bryce the next, the North Rim the next, and Lake Powell...all under 2 hours. Thank you Dan and Patty for a wonderful place, we loved it!

This house was perfect for our visit to Utah. It is centrally located to so many places we visited such as Zion, North rim of the Grand Canyon, Powell Lake, Glen Canyon Dam, Antelope Canyon. The place was clean and had all the amenities you would need. The kitchen was perfect with all newer applicances. We enjoyed coming back after a full day of hiking and sightseeing to relax at the cottage; we played horseshoes one evening! Patty and Dan were delightful to work with.
