Photos and Description of the Captiva Island vacation condo rental
Condominium - 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s) - 2 Baths - (Sleeps 4-7)

The Captiva Vacation Condominium is your personal home base in the middle of one of the finest world-class resorts on earth. Nothing quite compares to having your own private beachfront condominium getaway in an exclusive resort. It is the best of both worlds: Privacy, convenience, outstanding amenities and plenty of room to comfortably accommodate up to 7 people.

(Editor's Note: This is for all the people who ask even after reading this. THIS IS A BEACHFRONT CONDO. THIS CONDO IS ON THE BEACH.)

Your Captiva Condominium getaway is not jammed into the back of a maze of tiki-taki cottages. Captiva's legendary white beaches are just a few feet away. And there is no end to the possibilities. Swimming, boating, kayaking, even a day cruise on a luxury yacht are all within easy reach.

Your waterfront view of the Gulf of Mexico is spectacular. Captiva's beach is front and center for sunset, every single night. The views you will see from your vacation condominium are unparalleled photographic masterpieces.

Stay indoors, stroll along the pier, explore the breakwall, or just stroll into town. But be sure to get out on the water — the out-islands are just a short boat ride away, and sailing, fishing, shelling, parasailing and kayaking are all available.

Captiva Island is joined to Sanibel Island, beloved for its beautiful white-sand beaches, an abundance of seashells and the huge variety of wildlife that calls this Gulf coast island home. Long a vacation haven for families as well as romantics, Sanibel Island offers the slow pace of island life with just enough fabulous amenities to make it unparalleled.

The 'Ding' Darling Wildlife Refuge on nearby Sanibel Island is probably the most well known wildlife destination in the area. Captiva is visited by hundreds of bird species, some nesting on the shoreline. Protected birds like Plovers have been spotted nesting in North Captiva.

Other birds include Bald Eagles, Osprey, Terns of many varieties, Roseate Spoonbills, Wood Storks, Kingfishers, Black Oystercatchers, Skimmers, Brown Pelican, White Pelican, Great Blue Herons and many more.

Manatees can also be found in these waters. In fact, Pine Island Sound is a traditional stomping ground for Florida's manatees. Manatees spend most of their time feeding and resting. They graze for food along rivers, coastal bottoms and the water's surface. Manatees have been known to hold their breath for as long as 20 minutes, but usually surface every five minutes to breathe.

Friendly dolphins abound in the seas surrounding Captiva. They regularly swim right up to the docks. A Dolphin Watch and Wildlife Cruise is the perfect family outing. There is nothing more exciting than to see these beautiful marine mammals jump in the boat's wake. Visit secluded Florida state park beaches that are only accessible by boat. Most tours feature food, drinks, even live music.

Captiva was recently rated number-one in Romantic Beaches in the U.S. ('The Best Beaches' May 2004). Exciting adventures and the experiences of a lifetime await. With endless walkways, fine dining, entertainment, shopping, and personal services just a few minutes away, you're never far from your destinations.

The Captiva Vacation Condominium is available year round. Off-season and monthly discounts are offered, as well as special promotional and group rates. References are available upon request. Please read some of the testimonials we have received from past visitors.

The Vacation Condo is strategically located between Pine Island Sound and the Gulf of Mexico on beautiful Captiva Island in Barrier Island GeoPark. Captiva is joined to Sanibel Island. Sanibel is beloved for its beautiful white-sand beaches, an abundance of seashells and the huge variety of wildlife that calls this Gulf coast island home.

Long a vacation haven for families as well as romantics, Sanibel Island offers the slow pace of island life with just enough fabulous amenities to make it unparalleled. Visitors and residents alike choose whether to spend their days biking along protected bike paths, observing wildlife in refuges (and right at home!), attending cultural events, enjoying fabulous fresh seafood at one of the many island restaurants — the list goes on and on.

Captiva Island may be connected to Sanibel by a bridge, but in essence it's another world. Though both islands are delightfully distinct, Captiva was also voted among 'Best North American Islands'

Beautiful unit and well maintained. It's decorated, furnished and looks like a home rather than a rental unit. It was spotless when I checked in. I've eaten at all the Captiva restaurants and recommend the Green Flash. The Bubble Room is also very good. Also, the storage unit is in the building to the right of this units building as you face the unit from the parking lot. South Seas i's a great place to unwind and enjoy. The sunsets on the beach are spectacular.

Southseas Plays Hardball with Private Guests

Captiva is truly a natural gem that offers the most outstanding beaches, bird watching, dolphin sightings and fabulous weather. This condo has a great location, perfectly positioned for those outstanding sunsets and only steps away from an amazing white sand beach. The gated community of SouthSeas ensures privacy and restricted access but they sure don't like the fact that owners may rent thru alternate management companies. We approached the staff that handles privately owned condos on site and were immediately dismissed since we weren't part of their managed units. What does this really mean? Well, first you won't get a chair on the beach nor a towel, you can't buy items in any of their shops, you can't rent bikes without a SouthSeas account. They will happily sell you a "membership" to allow access to any of the amenities. So plan to spend additional $$ and if this isn't in your budget expect to be treated as a second class citizen in this elite village.
The condo was clean and spacious as promised (although 8 guests would be a stretch). Basic kitchen supplies, VHS videos available but no player, VCR without remote provided a lot of exercise, but the TV is about 20 years old and the colors are distorted (couldn't adjust). Internet access was extremely frustrating in the fact that there was only broadband available with this unit. Once again you must buy WIFI from SouthSeas in their membership option. The broadband connection was as fickle as a light switch; on one minute off the next. If you need to access the internet for business, pay the extra to management, it isn't worth the hassle with broadband.
This location is excellent for families that enjoy pool activities (a few steps from condo) but if you don't have children and are in search of a quiet restful vacation you might be disappointed with the excessive noise from the pool area.
Cute little village a short walk or bike ride with very unique and creative art galleries. Take advantage of the library- best deal in town and you can borrow up to 7 movies as well as FREE WIFI! Highly recommended restaurants: Green Flash & Doc Fords offer great menu options and reasonable prices for the area. If you're into nightlife, look elsewhere. This is a very laid back island, enjoy the sand, sun and quiet. Exercise picking up all those shells.

Owner's Response: We go to great lengths to insure our guests understand they are staying in a private beach condo. Many of the beach condos on South Seas Plantation Road (like ours) are independently owned and operated by the Captiva Beach Villa Association. Other South Seas Resort condo locations offer amenities similar to those already available to our guests. However, proximity to the "South Seas Resort" complex does not automatically grant unlimited use of their facilities.

"South Seas Resort" requires each visitor wishing to shop in their in-house stores to purchase an "Amenities Card." Needless to say, very few of our own guests support this peculiar practice, as everything offered (including restaurants, gift shops, kayak rentals, bikes, general store, and much more) are all conveniently available (and at far lower cost) via a short, comfortable walk to Captiva village. We hope this clears up any confusion.

We were very sorry our guest had trouble with Internet access and we now have reliable DSL. 2 of the 3 TV's in the condo have been replaced and the 3rd is also scheduled for replacement. As to pool noise, yes, kids can occasionally be noisy, but that comes with the territory and usually it's pretty quiet. Beach equipment is also included with our condo -- but if you need more personalized service, a small tip to a beach employee invariably results in instant service with a smile.

Our guests have access to 2 pools, private beach board walks, poolside gas barbeques, swim accessories, dedicated elevator, parking and much more. We're also glad our guest recognized that "...Captiva is truly a natural gem that offers the most outstanding beaches, bird watching, dolphin sightings and fabulous weather. We spent a week in this wonderful condo in October 2009. Could not have asked for anything more. Very clean, well maintained, beautiful decor. Well stocked kitchen. Everything in perfect working order. So convenient. Beautiful property. We spent evenings on the covered patio feeling blessed. I would not hesitate to recommend this condo to anyone. We hope to return this year and many years to come.

A quiet and relaxing place to stay

The beach villa at South Seas was at a perfect location right on the beach, and only steps away from two pools and bbqs to choose from. The inside of the condo was in nice shape and had everything you would need for your vacation, along with a locker full of beach accessories for kids to use at pool or beach. Pool and beach were very clean. Chairs, umbrellas and towels are at the beach with attendants there to set up for you. Water Activities are just a 5 minute walk on the beach away, wave runners, para sailing, banna boat rides. We ate out once at rc otters it was ok. Upon arrival we stopped at publix and bought a weeks worth of good food and saved a alot of money. Before renting the condo I spoke both by email and on the phone with the owner a few times, and he was very nice and helpful with any information or questions I had for him, that made it alot easier. If you like nice beaches, warm waters, fishing, shelling, wildlife, sunsets, meeting people from all over, resturants, water activities, shopping, relaxing, this is the place. This is a very family oriented vacation, if your looking for a wild time, this is not the place. I will be back for another vacation to this exect spot.
