Originally from Ohio, we raised our family in Naperville/Chicago IL and here in this forest/nature preserve . We feel strongly that you learn best about people/diversity/cultures in the major urban areas of the World. We feel just as strongly that you learn the most about yourself when you are exposed to the natural world.

This lodge was exactly as described and more. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The chairs are awesome! All you need to bring is clothes and food. Everything else is there. The property is very well maintained. The care keepers and owner were very helpful. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who loves the peace of the north woods.

We can't recommend any activities outside the property because we never felt the need to leave. We loved the trails for four wheeling and the gun range. We didn't want to leave and will be going back next year.

We had such relaxing, amazing visit. We stayed for 10 days and we could have stayed longer. The house has wonderful amenities from the kitchen, the laundry and the bathrooms. Lots of towels. Comfortable beds. The outside keeps the kids busy. Canoe and Kayak, sand toys, swings, chairs, hammock. We used it all. The home is immaculately kept with lots of furniture to sit anywhere. An office so you can work from while you are away. We had hummingbirds ALL DAY LONG. We heard owls. There are 2 turtles that the kids loved to try to get near. The grounds were kept so well. You can walk all around the lake and through the trails. Iron Mountain is 15 min. away. Easy trip to the grocery stores. We needed to take a kid to the doctor and there is a late hours clinic at the local hospital. It was very nice. I recommend Sleeping Bear !

Sleeping Bear Lodge is as beautiful as the photos. It was wonderful to stay in up-scale accommodations with dogs, who by the way, took a few days to recover. The owner and the caretaker could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The trails are well maintained and provide great hiking, but the lake is the real attraction. There are fish, water toys and boats. The lodge absolutely had everything we needed and more. We also took day trips to Florence county waterfalls and Pictured Rocks in MI. We loved Sleeping Bear Lodge!

Very nice and beautiful place. We really loved out stay at the Sleeping Bear Lodge. This was very the most relaxing and peaceful vacation ever. The owners made us feel very welcome. The caretakers of the property were always available if we needed them. Every little detail was thought through. There were plenty of activities outdoors and indoors for kids and adults. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
