Le Tilleul is situated on the edge of the village of Bach in the department of the Lot. The village is between the towns of Lalbenque and Limogne, and just 15 minutes from the N20 and A20 motorway. Bach itself lies in the southeast corner of the department amidst rugged, forested scenery which is so typical of the Lot region. The area is renowned for its wine production, being at the heart of the Cahors and Coteaux de Quercy wine region and there are numerous vineyards offering tastings. The area is famous for its Quercynoise cuisine and delicacies such as foie gras, truffles and an infinite variety of cheeses. That's in addition to the dazzling array of fresh fruit and vegetables available in season from the local markets in Concots, Limogne and Caussade.

Le Tilleul is one of the most comfortable and well equipped holiday accommodations we have stayed in. After a long drive from Germany we arrived early evening to a warm greeting from Valerie who showed us around and recommended some good restaurants. The weather was great and Valerie had thoughtfully put a jut of water in the fridge in the morning so it was nice and cold and had topped up the ice-cube tray. There was also a bottle of nicely chilled Rose. However, we were pretty tired and, as well as all we needed for breakfast the next morning, we noticed a basket containing more than enough for an easy meal - but not till we had jumped into the glorious pool
Le Tilleul is well maintained and wonderfully peaceful. Valerie checked in on us several times to see if there was anything we needed but we never did as it was all there from a well equipped kitchen, good size bedrooms with comfortable beds, hairdryer, large bath towels and hairdryer to a sewing basket for emergencies. Oh, and the fig tree outside, full of wonderfully ripe figs. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and the satellite television meant we didn’t miss our Radio 4! Highly recommended!

Peaceful, private and relaxing location

Maria and Tony St. Albans, Herts
Review Submitted: August 31, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We stayed at Le Tilleul in August with our 2 sons of 5 and 8 and had a very relaxing, peaceful stay due to the private location. The photos are accurate, but they do not do the property justice. Our boys enjoyed a large twin bedroom with its own ensuite and outside, the garden is much larger than we expected. There are 2 sets of table and chairs for dining 'al fresco', which we used daily.

The boys were able to play football and cricket without having to be near the pool. The pool was clean, easy to use and our boys would have been happy there all day every day. It was a welcome relief from the heat!

The property was clean, very well equipped and maintained. Valerie and David were extremely welcoming, very helpful but discreet. They arranged a welcome pack for us on arrival, which was especially helpful as we arrived late Saturday evening. They also recommended three child-friendly restaurants (all with great food for adults!)...La Petite Folie for great mussels & frites, Le Chantilly in Cahors, and the village restaurant (in Bach). We found Le Lamparo in Cahors, which was excellent with generous portions, great food and a big selection. Valerie also booked our tour of the Airbus factory in Toulouse, which was well worth the visit. Thank you!

If it's a peaceful, private, relaxing location you're after, then this is your place. However, there is also lots to do nearby if you want it...walking, cycling, canoeing. We would highly recommend it.

It was the most relaxing 2 weeks we've had.

Fabulous holiday

The cottage was excellent value for money and offered a total idyllic and peacefull setting for a family holliday.
Having Valerie and David next door gave us useful information on local activities which we may have missed out on left to our own devices.
Weather was great, except for a couple of storms in the evening, and the pool gave a welcome respite to the hot sun.
Would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely place as a fab family holiday destination.

Everything you could wish for in a holiday cottage

Richard and Penny Telford, Shropshire, UK
Review Submitted: July 16, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We came down from Calais via Orleans in two days and arrived at Le Tilleul (the lime tree.... the large tree just inside the gate), hot and tired. Valerie and David, had opened the gates to the cottage in expectation of our arrival and on hearing us drive in, came to greet us from their house next door. Valerie showed Penny around the cottage and David took me to the pool and showed me the procedures for using it. Within a very short time, we felt we were with old friends. We had, at Valerie's suggestion asked for one or two grocery items to be bought in for us but a hamper with some basic (and some not so basic!) items was provided anyway. However, with the temperature in the 80s and after a 300 or so mile drive our principal ambition was to get into that pool!

Later, we discovered that the TV carried 'Sky' and our happiness was made complete when we realised that we would be able to watch the second week of Wimbledon........... and after each match... go for a swim!

The cottage, garden and surrounding countryside are beautiful. Just sit by the pool in the evening and watch the sheep grazing on the other side of the fence.

We had several trips to Cahors which is a fascinating city. It has the only surviving fortified bridge in Europe which is well worth looking at and walking over, as it is now a footbridge; and while you're there you could do worse than to get yourself a table at a delightful restaurant on the other side of the road, 'La Petite Cour'... good food and wine at good prices (good and friendly service as well!) There's even a free public carpark, during the evening, a few minutes walk away... heading away from the centre.

What else can I say in the remaining few words allowed here? We went to see the cave paintings at Peche Merle, spent a fascinating morning at St-Cirq-Lapopie followed by a river trip from Bouzies in the afternoon and went to have a look at the copy of the Rosseta Stone at Figeac on another day.

The furthest south we went was Carcassonne to see the walled city which is about 120 miles away almost entirely by motorway and so will only take a couple of hours or so. An interesting day, but in some senses I wish we had called at the 'Space Centre' in Toulouse which you pass on the motorway, instead!

Go and stay at Valerie and David's cottage and have a relaxing holiday which will be as full of interest as you wish to make it.

Second year in this cottage-and we'll definitely return. The cottage is extremely comfortable and very well equipped-the dvd and satellite tv were very welcome in autumn evenings. Our days were spent relaxing in the large and private garden;the pool area is immaculate and lovingly maintained.
David and Valerie are excellent hosts, hospitable and always willing to help with anything.
Lovely French village down the road has a lively bar and a good Sunday market.Plenty of things to do in the area.Recommend it to everybody who loves France.
