Cottage getaway at its best

Let me preface my review by saying if you are looking for luxury, stay at the Grand Hotel a little further north. If you want a peaceful cottage getaway with a great spot on Lake Huron where you will often be the only person on the beach, you have found your spot. Like any cottage, this one has its eccentricities and quirks but that is what makes it a cottage. The cottage was clean and ready for us when we arrived and all of the staples were ready and waiting. We used the kayaks and bicycles that were there for our use and they were in great condition. We swam in Lake Huron (brisk but refreshing) and would definitely recommend water shoes for this due to the rocks on the bottom. There is a fabulous gazebo where we ate almost all of our meals and one of our children slept at night. It was decorated in an eclectic maritime fashion The gazebo overlooks the lake and we loved sitting in it and relaxing. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals. The neighboring houses are fairly close in proximity but the trees make it feel like you are very isolated. The cottage is about 6 minutes from Cheboygan and 20 minutes from Mackinac City so you can zip to either for a meal or other activities. We had a very relaxing experience and would recommend it to friends and family!
