LEXINGTON - LAKE HURON - LARGE LOG HOME - SANDY BEACH/SUNRISE

We rented this beautiful cabin to celebrate and host the Christmas holidays for our large families. The pictures are great, but they don’t represent how amazing the place is. We drove onto a winter wonderland property, where even the entrance way columns were decorated with ivy and lights for the season.

Once we stepped inside, the 14 ft decorated Christmas tree and sweeping views of Lake Huron were quite impressive. My husband, son, and I had arrived a few days early to enjoy the cabin and prepare for our holiday guests.

Most of the cabin interior is knotty pine and the rooms are quite spacious. The large inviting stone fireplace in the great room even had Christmas stockings hanging from the mantel. Pillows, comforters, & blankets are provided. You could rent their sheets, but I brought holiday flannel sheets for all the beds.

We hosted 32 people for Christmas Eve dinner. There was plenty of room to have our appetizers and cocktails separate in the beautifully appointed kitchen and foyer. We had our formal Christmas Eve dinner in the main room with the tree, view of the lake, and fireplace. We did have the event catered. We have some religious and family traditions that we follow on Christmas Eve and being in this beautiful home, just made it all the more special. After dinner we cleared the tables and chairs, sat around the fire and tree singing Christmas Carols, while waiting for Santa to arrive. Once Santa came we passed out all the presents. Some went to Midnight Mass and some spent the night. In between the festivities, people could go downstairs and play pool, ping pong, basketball, or foosball.

15 people very comfortably spent the night and we all helped prepare a wonderful Christmas morning breakfast. There was room for all of us to enjoy our breakfast and each other’s company around the kitchen table.

Later on Christmas Day, early evening, we hosted my husband’s family of 20. It was all so very magical. A few guests spent the night.

Even with so many people, the home has such a special peaceful quality, full of sunshine, endless views of the lake. The home emanates peace, joy & harmony. It was serene to watch a few freighters passing by in the distance.

Sometimes we couldn’t get cell phone service, but that wasn’t the case with all our guests.

The owner was quite accommodating and very easy to work with. Peter would get back to me right away with any questions or concerns I had.

Hope to be able to rent in the future.

We were a group of several families (was supposed to be four, but one had to cancel at last minute) that rented the cabin together. The cabin was beautiful, roomy and well equipped. We had great fun playing on the icy beach and even made a fire outside in the fire pit for the kids' to roast marshmallows. Holiday decorations were left up per our request, so we got to enjoy the giant, lovely Christmas tree. Twice we saw families of deer walking across the property. Very idyllic. The owner took our calls and answered our questions and the caretaker was available when needed. Probably one of the greatest things is that there was more than ample space for everyone, but the cabin still felt cozy. The only downside is that my phone wouldn't work up there, but thankfully my husband's still got service. Also, we didn't realize there was no wifi or internet access, but there is a library in town that has free wifi. Overall, we would definitely go back again, and were very happy with the whole experience.

We have just arrived home after spending a week with our family at this wonderful cottage. There were 12 adults and 2 babies and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the vacation. The cottage is very large and comfortable and well equipped. It was very clean when we arrived. The weather was great and we enjoyed the lake. It is a little rocky, so don't forget shoes for the water! We hope to return again next year.
