The perfect cabin
We've rented Jane and Eddie's wonderful cabin for two weeks the past three summers, and my family of four thinks it's just perfect. It's a bright, cheery space right on the water. Standing in the living room looking out, you see lake not land. It's like being on a boat, and it's very relaxing.
Our favorite room in the cabin is the screened in porch, which includes, among other things, a hammock we race to claim and a table we eat at, color at, have our morning coffee at. We live on the porch.
The swimming in front of the cabin's very nice. With kids, it's great because the water's shallow and generally calm, so easy to walk right into. There's also great swimming a mile or so down the road at Sandbar State Park, also great for kids.
Other attractions we like in the area include Burlington (a 20 minute drive), North Hero (a 15 minute drive), and the Allenholm Farm maple creemee stand (a 3 minute drive). There's a very good restaurant, The Blue Paddle, within walking distance.
As it starts to get colder in Brooklyn, my family starts talking more about South Hero and this cabin. We're already looking forward to returning next August. Thanks, Jane and Eddie, for the perfect cabin.
