Gadsby in the ruff........: The Pest House Manor is a brown shingle 2 bedroom family cottage sitting on the San Lorenzo River in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Tastefully furnished with family antiques, oriental rugs, and lots of wonderful memories. A cozy deck hangs on the river bank...The perfect spot for a mint julip. Ping Pong, Badmitten, Horse shoes, Swimming, dominoes, bridge, painting, writing, The Owl Grove: The 3 outdoor beds nestle in a grove of redwoods close enough to the house, but far away enough to be a bit adventuresome for the younger children. (about 105 feet) The sun peeps through the redwood boughs leaving this to be a favorite spot to find a stray napper. Bring your own sleeping bags and flash lights for this one.
Quick look....right on hand: Nearest airport and railway station: San Jose.....45 minutes, San Francisco.....1 hr. 30 min., Carmel.....45 min, Golf....15 minutes, Boar hunting.....60 minutes, Monterey Bay Aquarium .....45 minutes, Santa Cruz beach......15 minutes, Grocery store…..2 minutes, best German restaurant.....2 minutes, fresh live crab in season......20 minutes, Post office......2 minutes, bar.....2 minutes, liquor store.....2 minutes, winerys.....30 in mountains, 10 - 30 minutes, hiking.....out your front door!
In and around town: Ben Lomond, is approximately 20 minutes from the beach at Santa Cruz, 30 minutes from Los Gatos (great shopping) and 1 hour, 30 minutes from San Francisco. More than 30 wineries are open within 10 miles in the Santa Cruz Mountains including Bonny Doon, Byington, Storrs and Hall Crest. Big Basin State Park has excellent hiking all the way to the coast, (see the giant redwoods). This area is lively with numerous small towns, road side taverns, and out of the way places. Enjoy the stage plays in our Mountain Theater, eat at the Tyrolyn Inn that has the BEST German food in the South Bay Area. Walk to our local bar Henfling’s Firehouse Tavern, for nightly live music or Ben Lomond’s “Cao Bella” for dinner and theater. Roaring Camp Railroad offers special events civil war enactments etc. This is a great area for the motorcyclist's. Miles and miles and miles of mountain side, sea side and country side roads to explore.
