My wife and I are thrilled with our decision to stay in this wonderful Outer Banks home. If you choose to do the same you will not be disappointed. This being our first trip to the Outer Banks we were not sure where to stay. If you have been surfing VRBO you know the choices in this area are immense. We almost went south to Hatteras, we almost went north to Duck. After being here and visiting those areas we can say thank goodness we stayed in Pirate's Cove on Roanoke island. If you choose this home you will find QCV. Quality, Convenience and Value!
Quality? The open areas and furnishings of this high end home make it a pleasure to stay in. The photographs don't do the home justice, especially the top floor which has the main living area and one of the two Master bedrooms. The special thing about the top floor is the entire back wall of the house, which looks over the boardwalk, canal, and across the salt grass marsh to the sound, is literally glass. What beautiful water vista's. The development is re-pleat with many many amenities and lovely homes however, one thing we are most amazed with is in the middle of everything offered this home is quiet, relaxed and removed from all sense of hustle and bustle.
On the issue of convenience what a wonderful location. This home is CENTRALLY LOCATED to all the OBX has to offer. The beach is just across the bridge with ample public access, Roanoke island itself offers much to do. Easy day trips can be made all the way north to Corolla and South all the way to the southern end of Cape Hatteras. Going south it is even within the scope of a day trip to take the 40 minute ferry ride from Hatteras further south over to Ocracoke island. There you can Explore the former home of Blackbeard and see the oldest lighthouse standing in America. If one were staying north in Duck or South in Hatteras it would be hard to travel to and from the "other ends" of the OBX in a day. Nags Head is immediate to this home and filled with shopping which pleased my wife greatly. Going to Kitty Hawk is no more than a typical drive to town.
As it pertains to value I'll say my wife and I usually vacation in October and we always stay in vacation homes. Who can be comfortable in a little matchbox hotel room for a week? Simply stated this home gave us as much or more "bang for our buck" as we have ever had.
We have really enjoyed our first trip to the OBX and this home is a large part of the reason why. We don't want to leave!
