We are a family of 4 who have been coming to Acadia every year since 1989. Jim came to visit Acadia National Park as part of a Field Biology class for college and fell in love with Acadia. When Robyn graduated from college, Jim wanted to take her somewhere special, and so we went to Acadia. We fell in love with the beautiful mountains and cliffs that overlook oceans, the lakes and the woods, and just enjoying nature. We loved the lighthouse and the natural seawall that are nearby. We also enjoyed the laid-back, slower lifestyle of the Down-easter’s. We loved Acadia so much, that we purchased a piece of land with the hopes of retiring in Acadia some day. We were fortunate enough to be able to build a home on that land and begin using it in 2006 and offer you the chance, as well, to use it also to enjoy the piece of heaven we found in Acadia. Our family loves to vacation here each year, and we know that once you visit, you will love Acadia, too!

Robyn and Jim purchased this house in 2006

Our home is in a quiet, wooded area where you can enjoy wildlife as well as peace and quiet. We like to watch the birds, deers, squirrels, chipmunks, and rabbits. We have seen a fox and coyote also. We also enjoy the wild flowers in the garden as well as the humming birds and dragonflies that visit daily. Our neighborhood is safe. Children can ride bikes in the neighborhood since it is off the main road and has very little traffic. We love that we are close to many Acadia National Park areas, especially Echo Lake, Seawall (great place to see shooting stars), and Bass Harbor Lighthouse, yet not in the noisy, crowded areas at night when we wish to get a good night's rest for the next days activities. We can even ride our bikes to the town post office to catch the FREE Island Explorer bus. These buses are the Best deal on the island. We love hiking the near-by trails and looking at the Milky Way at night. You have never seen so many stars, except maybe at a planatarium.

We have gone out of our way to make our home comfortable for you and ourselves. Our home is much more than just a rental. We also use this house for vacation, so you know it's comfortable and well stocked. We have added many, many extras such as nightlights, flashlights, extra supplies in case you forget to buy them the 1st time you are at the market. There are even cookbooks, DVD's, Books, Games, and puzzles (great for rainy days). We have an overflowing Welcome Package chalked full of ideas for your vacation. We also enjoy using the picnic table and grill to enjoy the outdoors and wildflower garden.

Hillcrest Cottage

We recently spent a week in Robyn and Jim Simon's lovely Hillcrest Cottage in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Their home is situated on a secluded, peaceful property. All the linens, towels, dishes, pots and pans that you could possibly need are provided. There is even a lobster pot for those adventurous enough to cook their own. Don't let the unfinished second floor scare you away. There were six of us, and we had PLENTY of room to spread out and relax!
Mount Desert Island is the home to Acadia National Park, a nature wonderland. Everywhere you look is a 'Kodack moment'! There is SO much to do - hiking biking and swimming. And, after a day of satisfying exercise, you can relax at night by strolling in Bar Harbor, eating a delicious homemade ice cream cone and looking at all of the interesting shops.
A trip to Mount Desert Island is a must for everyone, and what better place to stay than Hillcrest Cottage!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful words. We are SO glad that you enjoyed your time here in Acadia. We have tried hard to furnish our home with all the comforts you would expect to find in your own home and truly make it your home away from home. And we try hard to provide you with suggestions of things to see, do, and places to eat to help you experience as much of Acadia as possible during the time you are there. We love Acadia so much and wanted you to have memorable experiences also. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness of sharing your experiences.

It is obvious that Jim and Robyn's Hillcrest Cottage was not just a rental property, but their family vacation home. The property is well maintained and on the peaceful side of the island. Their home was a relaxing retreat from the adventures found in their welcome package that was compiled by years of their own family vacations. The home is well stocked with many conveniences and very well kept. My family of six spent a week exploring MDI from the suggestion found in the welcome package. Thank you Jim and Robyn for the most memorable experiences and best family vacation. We look forward to returning to Acadia and Hillcrest Cottage to continue our adventures.
Owner's Response: Michelle, Thanks so much for taking time to do a review of our home and your very kind words. We were so excited to hear from you about what a wonderul time you had on vacation. We are so happy you found our Welcome Package full of meaningful suggestions that helped aid in your family having the best vacation ever. We look forward to having you back again soon.

I really enjoyed the house while staying there!

The property was very nice and secluded. The outside is very nice and well maintained. The inside of the house was very clean and well kept. I like that the house sits at an angle that the sun shines in and brightens the house. The rooms were very nice as well. I enjoyed going around the area and sight seeing. My favorite part of my visit was going on a carriage ride through Acadia National Park. The scenes and look outs were very pretty. I enjoyed eating at Thurston's for lobster. It was the very first time I had lobster and it was very good, and while eating you get to sit along the water. I enjoyed visiting Ravenwood Gift Shop. The owners are very friendly and have hand carved and painted birds for sale. They are very pretty and worth going to see. I also enjoyed buying a hand-painted buoy from there as well. All the painting and carving is done by the owners, Joe and Ann. They have many unique gift ideas as well as the carvings and buoys. The owners are very quick to respond to questions that I had. Overall, the owners do a good job of showing well rounded customer service. I would recommend anyone looking to stay in this area to stay at this location.
Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your kind words and for sharing your wonderful experiences. Acadia is a beautiful place with lots to do. We like Ravenswood gift shop too! Something there for everyone. Glad you got to try Maine Lobstah. We can't get enough of it when we are there. Thanks for staying with us and your review. You're welcome back anytime.

Acadia National Park and many attractions are close by, House well stocked with many conveniences and well maintained, Welcome package is always nice and informational-place to go, things to see, and places to eat at. My favorite thing is seeing the many stone bridges from the highways and carriage roads. I enjoy going for the carriage rides and I love to eat at The Top of the Hill restaurant. I have been coming here year after year and never get bored with the sights and this house location. Owner is always fast at responding to questions. Several of my family and friends have stayed at this location.
Owner's Response: Glad to hear you enjoy your time here every year. We love having you. Thanks so much for coming back year after year and for taking time to share your experiences. Hope to see you this summer. We have updated our Welcome Package, so check it out.

We enjoyed our week immensely. The island is enchanting. Your home was a relaxing place to rest and recharge to face another day of our adventure. We all felt blessed to experience the charm of MDI (Mount Desert Island). Southwest Harbor may be the quite-side, but we definitely preferred this side of the tracks. Thank you for the use of your place.
