Ready to go back!

newheart Douglasville, Ga
Review Submitted: October 8, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
My husband, Min Pin, and I had the most wonderful time at the cabin in August, 2008. We wanted a place to either sight see and do the tourist thing: or just see and hear no one and nothing but mother nature if we so desired. We had that and more.

The directions were "right on" and the cabin was very clean. It was also very nice to find the hot tub warm, clean, and ready to enjoy. Our pup very much loved running in and out and having a meadow to play in and not have to be on her leash. She even had a few friendly dogs to show up to play with.

We enjoyed breakfast on the enclosed porch and listening to the creek and watching the horses in the field across from the creek. Mother nature needs to "GENTLY" help the water level of the creek going past the cabin but the sound of running water and watching it was pleasant.

The town of Blue Ridge is welcoming and wonderful shops to wander through. At the nearest park, we enjoyed "pikin in the park" a weekly musical event put on by the locals.

As we work a stressful job and I have health problems that will not be getting better, this place was a paradise for us. One of my favorite times was the day we did not leave the cabin at all and the only sights and sounds were those of nature.

We thank Janice and Donnie for sharing their beautiful spots with others. They were most kind and very informative about the area. We are looking forward to our next visit more than I can say.

Thank you so much, Janice and Donnie

My husband and I took our boys and my parents to this little piece of heaven and had a great time. Donnie and Janice were great and on top of things! We didn't have any issues with thte window units and it stayed cool in the cabin, we even had to get up in the middle of the night to turn the AC down or off. It was very relaxing sitting on the back proch and listening to the river and watching the kids in the hot tub! They loved the hottub!! We didn't go any where...we enjoyed the cabin too much to go out! Thanks for sharing with us and we are looking forward to returning...hopefullly in October!

Perfect Couple's Getaway

Atlanta Romatics Atlanta, Georgia
Review Submitted: November 8, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had a great time at the cabin... It's secluded enough that we were able to enjoy ourselves without worrying about the neighbors. Soaking in that wonderful hot tub at night when the sun went down was magnificent... The cabin is quaint and we loved it. We probably would not go at the height of summer since there is only an air conditioning unit in the window of the master bedroom, so it's not possible to cool the house down while someone sleeps there behind closed doors, and I definitely would not recommend for people with toddlers. Our 2 year-old wanted to climb up and down the steep wood stairs, and the gorgeous loft upstairs has very wide rails around it -- easily wide enough for a child to slip through and fall down to the first floor! Otherwise, you couldn't ask for a more charming location SO close to Blue Ridge and other destinations. There are tons of restaurants within 10 minutes and it's 3 miles from a MAJOR tubing site. We'll definitely return (without our son) and hope that hot tub is still waiting for us!

Owner's Response: We have a second a/c window unit in the upstairs loft; when it is on with the ceiling fan over the living area, it keeps the cabin quite comfortable. We most always have the cabin rented through the hottest time of summer and have never had any complaints about the a/c. If anything, we have been told the two units are extremely efficient for the size of the cabin. We encourage people to use both units with the ceiling fans to keep the air cool and circulated. We want everyone to be comfortable and cozy!

A little dissapointed.

We were wanting to fish, and the creek is definately not rushing. You could not fish there, was mis led about that. That was the main thing wrong. Did not use the hammock, or the fire pit. Just wasn't what we expected, and we have rented several, through the years, and this one is one I would not reccomend.
Recommended for:  Age 55+
Owner's Response: We were profoundly saddened to find that we had an unsatisfied customer. We would never intentionally deceive anyone about any feature of our rental cabin. I suppose whether the creek is rushing would require a subjective opinion; however, the adjective rushing is commonly used when locals refer to this particular creek. As far as fishing is concerned, I must disagree with the renters as I have caught many brown trout in the creek myself and only live three hundred or so yards up stream, and there has been a 21" rainbow trout caught in it as well just a couple of years ago and was pictured in the local paper. We are truly about trying to accommodate the people who rent from us and feel quite terrible about the level of dissatisfaction. We apologize for the disappointment and any misunderstanding and hope no one in the future will be the least bit disenchanted.

Our family loved our stay at Little Bears Cabin

We loved our stay! It was very relaxing and refreshing. The creek is right outside the cabin and in the mornings we would eat our breakfast in the screened in sun room. Plenty of room for our three year old to run around outside. Thank you for sharing your cabin.
